The next morning, they woke early. The air inside the dungeon was still and cool, carrying the faint smell of damp stone and moss. Droplets of water clung to the jagged ceiling, occasionally falling and splashing against the rock.
The faintest traces of light filtered through cracks above, pale and distant, but it was enough for everyone to know that morning had arrived.
They were eager to finish. Their plan was simple, complete the remaining chambers of the dungeon, claim whatever rewards might still be hidden within, and leave as soon as possible.
The oppressive feeling of being underground for so long weighed on all of them, and though they had grown used to the shadows and the strange, muted sounds, the idea of open skies and fresh air pulled at their thoughts.
However, Sun was still asleep. He lay on his bedroll, one arm draped across his chest, breathing slow and steady as though the dangers of yesterday had never existed.
