Chapter 52 - [52] Operation Infiltration PT-1

"Okay, then let's go get this Roman Pierce." Bilkins says with a shrug.

"Before we go any further I want clean slates for everyone, myself included in writing and signed off on by the powers that be with my own personal council to go over it and approve it." I say, Markham and Bilkins look like they've just eaten something sour.

"Alright, Brian. I'll get that done, Clearance and Agent Markham can sign off on the deal, on their ends." Mr Nobody says and I don't know why I feel a bit of relief when he says he'll do it but I do.

"Agent T, why don't you show Brian to his car." Mr Nobody says to Tess and she promptly nods and motions to me to follow her, once we were out of the secure room.

"Thank you for that…" Tess mutters softly.

"What, wanting you on my team?" I ask and then immediately make an amused sound in the back of my throat and motion with my hand like I'm pushing something away.

"It keeps why you and that old prick are actually here on the DL and makes it so we won't be in competition against one another." I say to her with a shrug and she nods while keeping her head turned straight ahead, a soft smile playing at the corners of her lips.

"Besides if they picked another tool like Dunn we'd be outed in minutes and probably tortured to death…if not outright shot in the head." I add on and Tess hums in agreement.

"So you think the people you named will-."

"Without a doubt." I say quickly cutting Tess off not trying to be rude but to convey my faith in my people.

"Well, if you trust them that much I'll have to try and trust them too." Tess says reluctantly and I laugh softly.

"Don't worry Tess we'll have your back…just have our's in return." I say to her as she leads me to a warehouse where my Skyline is parked sliding into the driver's seat, I type a code into the Pioneer Head unit that both scrambles and fries any electronics that aren't a part of the car but within it.

Tess brings her right hand up to her left ear and presses her finger against her ear comm device.

"Sorry about the feedback just making sure nobody bugged my ride." I apologize to her and she smirks at me.

"Oh they did…good thinking Brian." Tess says with her smirk still on her lips as she moves closer to my car she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a flipphone, "Company issue, completely secure as any electronic can be, keep it on you we'll be calling once we get the okay to get your friend from Barstow." Tess says to me her smirking expression turning serious.

"Okay, talk to you later Tess…ohh and if that Stang needs some body work you can bring it to me." I offer and Tess smiles this time it isn't a smirk but a real feeling smile.

"Thanks Brian, Shelly and I have a long history together, she's my first car."

"Shelly huh?" I tease playfully and Tess chuckles softly.

"What, you don't name your car's?" Tess asks me right back in the same playful way.

"Oh, no I do…this girl's name is Sky-."

"Because of the way the silver paint looks blue when the light hits it just right?" Tess interrupts me and asks and I'm honestly thrown a bit by it.

"Uhh yeah…" I mutter a bit unintelligently and that makes Tess giggle, reach into the car and ruffle my slightly shaggy looking hair.

"See you later Brian." Tess says her voice sounding light/playful as she spins on her heels and walks away with an over pronounced sway of her hips. I find myself rolling my eyes at her antics, while I press the start button, Sky purrs to life and I begin driving out of the warehouse.

I'm not even out of the compound like area, when two undercover nondescript sedans start following me with people who are obviously cops.

'Seriously, are you guys trying to blow this operation before it even begins.' I wonder as I start driving recklessly to lose my tails.

3rd PoV Brian losing his tails

Brian's left hand grips the steering wheel while his right holds the shift lever.

The Skyline roars down the highway, the car's exhaust had a deep, aggressive snarl while the blow of valve sounds like an angry pavement eating beast snorting in annoyance as he cuts through the chaos of the afternoon traffic.

In the mirror, two dark sedans hold steady, slipping through the flow of cars with practiced precision.

They're good…too good to be run of the mill agents. This has to be Mr Nobody's people…a test of some sorts, Brian expresses in his head as

he threads through a gap barely wide enough to allow his mirrors to remain on the car.

The wind whips through the open driver's side window throwing Brian hair into disarray.

He drops a gear, the surge of torque pressing him into the seat as he shoots past a semi and cuts hard across two lanes.

Horns blare behind him.

Up ahead, an exit ramp flashes by. He takes it without hesitation—sharp, fast, tires screaming as the Skyline's ass end kicks out, luckily the tires get a good bite of asphalt again once he's past the cement ramp allowing him to straighten the Skyline out.

The pursuing sedans struggle to match his speed and precision; one manages to make the exit, another overshoots the turn off and smashes into the concrete divider.

The ramp spits Brian out onto a narrow service road, he floors the accelerator, and begins weaving between much slower vehicles, every movement fluid and almost hypnotic.

A hard left sends him onto a ramp to get back onto the highway, Brian slows down and puts himself between two big rigs.

His back and front fender millimeters from making contact with the one big rig's trailer and the other big rig's bullbar.

Brian edges the Skyline just enough to be able to check behind him with the driver's side mirror. The one remaining sedan is on the same ramp but the officers inside are looking around panicked.

Brian smirks, cuts the wheel to the right and darts down an unmarked industrial drive.

Looking through the rear mirror Brian watches as the sedan blows past on the main road, chasing a ghost.

"That was fun." Brian mutters under his breath, a smirk lingers on his lips.
