Chapter 42 - Chapter 41:First step

Fai knew it, if he was to stand any chance against the people in front of him, he had to use everything in his arsenal. He was going to use the six stat points.

Unfortunately, his Fae Eyes would be of no use in combat, at least for now. He didn't yet know their full potential, and if he wanted to find out, he had to level them up—something he had no idea how to do.

With that in mind, Fai distributed the points into the attributes he had chosen: HP, Endurance, and Speed.

Once done, he quickly pulled up his status screen to confirm the changes.

[Fairy Storage]

[Description: This skill allows the user to store non-living things. Due to the user being at the Seedling stage, the space is limited.]

[FAE EYES lvl 1]

[Description: When activated, the skill can give the user information about anything he scans or sets his eyes on.]

Now, with his new stats, Fai was ready.

The moment he assigned the points, he felt a change ripple through his body—similar to when he had consumed the Mutation Pill. But unlike that painful experience, this was different. This time it was pleasant.

His muscles bulged and reshaped themselves, tearing down and rebuilding, but instead of agony, it felt like a soothing massage spreading across his body.

In moments, the broken bones in his hands recovered and were fully healed.

As the dust from his earlier crash began to settle, Fai heard someone's mocking voice.

"Aren't you guys overreacting? He's just a no-name. Even if he dies, who would care? No one. In my opinion, even if we kill him, we won't get in trouble."

'What is he talking about? Are they planning to kill me? Why? Just because I'm a no-name? Because I'm an orphan?'

Anger stirred inside Fai. Emotions he thought buried rose again... the pain of losing his parents, the ache of growing up without a mother's love.

"You guys!" Fai cried out, his voice nearly a scream. "What did I ever do to hurt you? What did I do that made you hate me so much that you'd plan to kill me? Oh, no need to tell me... I know why. It's because I'm a piece of trash, right? Just a stinking orphan, something that shouldn't even exist, right?"

Each word was heavy, dripping with pain, anger, and frustration.

Leo, Brine, and Prime stared at Fai, and for some reason, a shiver ran down their spines.

Fai stood before them, yet they couldn't attack. They were scared—yes, that was the word.

His eyes glowed faintly yellow, and his gaze cut through them like blades.

"Is it me, or does this guy suddenly creep you out?" Brine whispered, stepping back. Though she knew Fai wasn't a mutant, she couldn't shake the suffocating aura rolling off him.

"No, it's not just you. I feel like his eyes could eat me raw," Prime muttered from her side.

Leo, however, remained calm, his focus locked on Fai. Then, without warning, he sprang forward again, energy coursing through his foot, his speed just as sharp as before.

Like last time, he aimed for a devastating punch. But this time, Fai was ready. He positioned himself and prepared his own strike.

During Leo's first attack, Fai couldn't even follow his movements, instinct had forced him to block, resulting in broken hands.

Luckily, his unique Seedling body healed quickly, faster than human eyes could notice, maybe even faster than most mutants.

But now, things were different. As Leo lunged forward, Fai could see him, see every movement clearly. It was the same attack as before, but Fai had no intention of blocking. He would counter.

He ducked low, launching himself forward with all the speed he could muster. Though slower than Leo, he was still far faster than any ordinary human.

His fist shot out, packed with anger and strength.

He would hurt them all, just as they had hurt him.

Leo realized what was coming, but it was too late. Fai had moved faster than he could react. All he could do was brace himself.

'It's not like he can be stronger than a mutant,' Leo thought.

That thought shattered the instant Fai's fist slammed into his stomach.

Time seemed to slow. Fai had slipped under Leo's punch and driven his own fist straight into him. Leo's blow missed, his momentum carrying him forward, and Fai's strike landed perfectly.

The impact was brutal. Leo felt as though his insides were about to spill out.

This was Fai's first step toward revenge.
