The wind stopped.
Adam stood in a long hall surrounded by mirrors on every side, as if the walls
had swallowed themselves and turned into eyes silently watching him. The mirror
in front of him trembled, but did not shatter. His reflection did not look
exactly like him... it held something more mature, and more painful.
He took a step forward, then heard his voice coming from behind:
> "Every mirror here does not reflect your image, but your guilt."
He turned around. There was no one.
But he heard the sound of Zira's footsteps approaching. She was wearing a long
black cloak, her eyes sinking into a mysterious shadow.
She said in a calm voice, as if afraid to awaken something:
> "This is the Hall of Final Reflection. Whoever enters it... does not leave
> unless they strip themselves of everything they thought was their identity."
Adam: "Have you crossed it?"
Zira: "I was born here."
He did not understand, but did not ask. For the first time, he felt that the
question might reveal more than he could bear.
At the moment he tried to touch one of the mirrors, it opened by itself like a
mouth swallowing, and he fell into a dark abyss with no bottom.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He woke up to the sound of roaring sea.
But it was not a sea, it was a sea of sounds. Every sound was a whisper, a
scream, or a cry from a past forgotten or denied.
"Labobo" suddenly appeared on his shoulder, but he was not as he knew him. He
was bigger, and his voice was more mature:
> "We are getting closer, Adam. But who are you now? Who are you after all
> this?"
Adam did not answer. He only looked at the black sky that opened above him like
a living eye, and said:
> "I am the one who learned that the mirror does not lie, but it also does not
> understand."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elsewhere, Zira stood before a wall inscribed in a language unlike anything
earthly.
She whispered:
> "He will not survive... if he does not remember where he truly came from."
