Chapter 61 - Geno's Doubt

Luthor Factory.

Basement Level One.

Bizarro, looking like a walking zombie, grinned and followed Lex, constantly repeating the word "father."

This big oaf seemed to have no worries, calling out with a full smile, completely oblivious to Lex's increasingly grim expression.

After some time of teaching, Bizarro had learned some basic vocabulary.

"Shut up, Bizarro, go stand in the corner for a minute!" Lex glared at Bizarro viciously.

"Oh." Bizarro scratched his head, not knowing how he had angered his father, and moved his legs towards the corner to stand. He mumbled as he counted: "1. 2. 3."

"So, why does he call you father?" Geno asked from the sofa.

Lex sighed. "Because those idiots told Bizarro that whoever created him is his father."

Geno grinned. "Congratulations, you have a big son at a young age. Does Victoria know?"

Lex glared at Geno. "Shut up! Geno."

The two brothers bickered as usual, when a security guard approached Geno.

The man respectfully bowed and said, "Mr. Geno, the security guard at the gate has sent word that your classmate, Chloe, is waiting outside the factory."

"Chloe?"

Geno stood up and rubbed his cheeks, a little curious. What was the girl doing here? Could she be worried that I haven't been to class for a few days? Sighing inwardly, Geno said softly, "Tell the gatekeeper to let her in."

Chloe walked into the sprawling Luthor Factory.

Whether by design or accident, the Luthor Factory's architecture resembled a nuclear power plant, with towering smokestacks spewing black smoke into the sky.

The girl gazed up at the smokestacks, momentarily lost in thought.

Her father worked here as a workshop director.

"Tap."

A gentle touch landed on her shoulder.

Chloe tensed up, startled. She turned around to face a pair of pure, blue eyes.

"Ge, Geno!?"

Facing those azure eyes, Chloe stammered and stepped back.

She didn't know why, but after not seeing him for a few days, the eyes she was used to seeing seemed even more pure and blue.

"What's wrong?" Geno chuckled, waving his right hand in front of Chloe's face, teasing, "Is there something in my eyes?"

"No, nothing, it's just, your eyes look very beautiful."

Chloe turned her head to hide her nervousness. The setting sun seemed to dust the girl's pretty golden short hair with gold powder.

Geno casually made an excuse, "Ah, maybe it's a bit dark today."

That was obviously not the reason. His eyes were so intensely blue because he had been practicing the Freeze Beam recently, which made them appear somewhat more vibrant.

"Yes, that's right."

Chloe gestured with her chin towards the book in her arms, looking at Geno and saying, "The final exams are next week. I think you need to review."

"I've already marked the key points in the textbooks."

Geno listened patiently to the girl, nodding in agreement from time to time.

"Ring, ring~"

A series of phone rings interrupted the two of them.

Anxious voice of Pete came from the phone after it was picked up: "Geno! Clark has fainted."

Chloe, who was beside him, perked up her ears to listen.

Hearing Pete's words, Geno was a little surprised: "Clark fainted?"

The two of them exchanged a glance.

"Alright, I'll be right there." Geno hung up the phone and looked at Chloe.

"Chloe, come with me to the hospital."

"Clark fainted." Pubfuture Ads

Geno came to the town hospital again, feeling a sense of déjà vu.

Sniffing the pungent smell of disinfectant in the hallway, he was somewhat dazed. He remembered that thirteen years ago, he and Lex had welcomed a new beginning in this very hospital.

Geno pushed open the door and walked into the ward with Chloe.

On the white bed, Clark lay peacefully, his eyes closed, his breathing even, and he seemed to be in no serious trouble.

"What happened?" Geno looked at Pete, who pursed his thick lips and recounted the events.

"Infected factory workers?" Geno frowned. "I'm not familiar with this."

Ten years ago, when Earl was fired, he was still visiting some mysterious mages with his mother.

However, it was indeed something Lionel would do.

The youth knitted his brows, but another thought surfaced in his mind.

Based on Pete's description of Earl's reaction, the other party was likely also affected by Kryptonite and stated that everything was caused by Lionel.

Perhaps, this could also indirectly prove that his father had begun secretly researching Kryptonite as early as ten years ago.

But, why hadn't Lionel ever told him about these things?

What was he hiding?

A shadow of unease settled over Geno, but he kept his expression neutral, smiling as he asked, "Where is Earl now?"

There were some things he wanted to ask in person.

How exactly had Earl become this way? Was it the influence of Kryptonite? What had he seen at the chemical plant?

These were the questions Geno needed answers to.

Pete scratched his head and pointed to the next ward, "He's been cuffed to the bed."

"Tick-tock, tick-tock."

The clock on the wall ticked with a steady rhythm.

The smell of disinfectant mingled with the acrid scent of metal.

In the dim ward, Earl slowly opened his eyes.

The first reaction when someone is in an unfamiliar environment is to observe.

He subconsciously wanted to push himself up from the bed.

"Clang!"

The sound of cold chains echoed in his ears. Earl turned his head and discovered that his arms were handcuffed to the head of the bed.

"Hoo… hoo."

Earl was breathing a little nervously, subconsciously clenching his fists. He had been captured?

"Knock, knock, knock~"

A knock on the door sounded. Before Earl could react, the door opened, and a tall young man with blond hair and blue eyes stood at the door, staring at him expressionlessly.

The young man wore a casual white short-sleeved shirt, black shorts, and sneakers. He whistled a tune as he slowly approached Earl.

"Who... who are you?!"

Earl swallowed nervously, staring at the young man's face, startled by the stranger who had entered the room.

Conflicting thoughts swirled in Earl's mind. Who was this person? What did he want? Was he a hitman sent by Lionel?

Earl had once worked at the Luthor Factory and had heard his colleagues mention the Ziben Family's "disappearing people" trick.

The girl in the iron barrel under the Wall Street concrete had the most to say about it.

"Earl Skinner, right?"

Geno ignored the man's question, simply staring at the black man in the hospital bed.

He stood in front of the man, his expression cold. "I want to ask you a few questions."

"You used to work at the town's chemical plant. What turned you into what you are now?"

Hearing Geno's question, Earl didn't answer. Instead, he stared at Geno with a guarded expression, questioning him: "Who are you?"

"Oh, I forgot." Geno sighed, patting his head as if annoyed by his forgetfulness. He stared into the black man's eyes, placed his hand on his chest, and said, word by word, "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Geno. Geno Luthor."

Hearing Geno's words, the black man's eyes widened suddenly!
