Chapter 29 - Alchemy Master

Upon reaching the top floor, Max and Sophia exited the Elevator following the receptionist and found themself in a long narrow corridor with only few potted plants and sofas arranged for guest arrived to sit.

The receptionist guided them through the Corridor, where Max found few closed windows, through the window he can see one part of the city.

The receptionist then asked them to sit in the sofas present there and wait for few minutes as she will go in and inform the president of your visit and invite them after he is ready to meet you after completing his work.

Max and Sophia quickly agreed, realizing it was their fault for arriving unannounced and causing the Alchemy Guild to adjust its busy schedule, which left them feeling guilty. They sat on the sofas and asked the receptionist to let them know when the president was available.

As they sat, the receptionist thanked them for their understanding ad went inside the room after opening the door which was situated at the middle of the corridor.

Max and Sophia stood in the corridor, taking in the lively city below. The streets buzzed with activity as people moved back and forth between shops. As they looked closer, they noticed the merchant guild on the right side and the exploration guild on the left, each adding to the vibrant scene.

The Exploration guild building features a globe with a ship anchor on top, serving as a recognizable symbol for others, while the merchant guild showcases a large gold coin emblem coated in gold paint. Max couldn't help but wonder if it was actually made of pure gold.

Max and Sophia discussed and decided to register with the Exploration Guild and the Merchant Guild once they finished their work here.

As they were talking, the receptionist emerged from the room and informed them that the president was available to see them. She invited them in, and they happily agreed, following her inside.

They were directed to a small reception area where an elderly man was already seated.

The elderly man has clean clothes which looked grand and there are several inscriptions on the dress which were shining when sunlight shine on them.

He has long beard and small smile on his face; he squinted his eyes and started observing Max and Sophia, while they were doing the same.

The elderly man rose from his seat and instructed the receptionist to resume her duties, assuring her that he would handle the guests from that point onward, then sent her on her way.

Max watched the receptionist leave promptly after the command was given, quickly realizing that the elderly man had strong authority over his subordinates.

Then he shifted his gaze towards the elderly man and found him standing next to him.

"Hello, my name is Morgan, I'm the current acting president of the Alchemy guild." The elderly man introduced himself while extending his hand towards max.

Max took Morgan's hands in his own, gave a firm handshake, and introduced himself.

"Hello, I'm Max, I'm the captain of ship, the one next to me is also a captain of a ship, her name is Sophia."

Sophia gave Morgan a quick handshake, and Morgan invited them to sit down and discuss the purpose of their visit.

Max and Sophia sat opposite to Morgan and began to talk about their purpose.

"My ship which is now parked at the dock required an alchemist to draw required array's so I'm here to request for your help." Max stated.

Morgon went to deep thought for a second and Max and Sophia didn't disturb him but waited for his request.

Soon Morgan got out of his thoughts and asked when they would like to have it done.

Max and Sophia exchanged happy smiles, looked at each other, and said it needed to be completed within two weeks since the island test was scheduled to begin then.

Morgan then thought for a second and agreed for their request for drawing arrays on both ships in 2 weeks' time.

"Sir, what would be the cost of the procedure and material it required, if you inform us then I will get the amount get ready." Max asked.

Morgan laughed and didn't say the amount of gold coins required but instead asked "What is the relationship between the Island lord and max."

Max thought for a second and found there is no harm in informing the alchemy guild master such small details and informed him that they were both grew up together from childhood and he always treated her as younger sister.

"So, hasn't iris informed you what the island lord token represents." Morgan asked back.

"No, she just handed over the token and told them to show it when he mentioned he would be visiting the alchemy guild. She was busy with work; otherwise, she would have joined us," Max replied.

Morgan handed the token back to Max, explaining that it symbolizes absolute authority in the city, even granting the power to command troops. I just wonder, who did the Island Lord give such an important token to without a second thought?

Max didn't feel any ripples of excitement upon learning he could command troops with the token, but he was happy to know that Iris trusted him immensely.

Morgan who observed Max didn't care about the advantages of the token and thought Iris has learned to be indifferent to external things from him.

If Max heard this, he would likely disagree, as he was indifferent, having experienced a greater world in BlueStar where he commanded many. He had no interest in leading troops on the island, but Iris clearly hadn't learned anything from him.

Morgan then stated that he would personally handle the modifications of the two ships and wouldn't accept any payment from him or Sophia, as he didn't want the Island Lord to feel he had treated them unfairly.

Max and Sophia initially refused his proposition, but when he threatened to assign the job to his junior if they didn't comply, they reluctantly agreed. They wanted to avoid any issues with their ships concerning the arrays.

After chatting for a few more minutes with the alchemy guild president, they bid him farewell and headed to the exploration guild to register themselves.
