Max now filled with material required to upgrade his ship immediately started to upgrade his ship and clicked the upgrade while selecting the upgrade button.
As soon as the upgrade button was pressed, the system notified him that the ship would be unable to move during the upgrade. It also explained that the upgrade duration would depend on the ship's level and displayed a timer indicating 1 hour required for the process.
Max having to do nothing began to open the chat channel and decide to pass the time.
As soon as he opened the chat channel Max saw many are happily discussing as they have managed to upgrade their raft to level10 and now initiated the upgrade process and will be proud captains of ships by tomorrow morning.
Max too happily congratulated them and began to happily chat with the people as he never really chatted with them as he was always on lookout to find resources and upgrade his ship or busy with some other things.
As time went on, the ship that was once at level 0 progressed to level 1. After a brief tour, it was discovered that the ship had gained a meter in both length and width, making the previously cramped space feel a bit more spacious.
He also discovered a newly added iron anchor with a chain, which can be used to stop the ship in one place.
Max decided to use the anchor for today and upgrade his ship to level 3, focusing only on collecting treasure chests and resources floating nearby.
As soon as the decision was made, he quickly pressed the upgrade button, and the system notified him that the ship would take two hours to upgrade to level 2.
From this, Max realized that each time the ship was upgraded, it would require him to stay put for an additional hour compared to the previous upgrade.
It might not be certain until he reaches the mid-stage of the upgrade at level 5. He will know for sure once he upgrades to level 6, and if the ship takes 6 hours to upgrade, he can be confident about the time required for the next main upgrades.
By knowing the time requires for an upgrade Max can then effectively allocated the time he travels the ocean or take rest while during the travelling by upgrading the ship.
As soon as free time was available, Max started to enquire if anyone need water purifiers and got many trade requests, Max immediately began producing water purifiers for the other survivors who had requested them in exchange for materials. Water had become a scarce resource after the three-day rations were consumed, and sellers were charging extortionate prices for it.
The entire day Max does nothing but trading with the survivors by manufacturing water purifiers and each manufacture cost him 10 mana points which made him to rest for a while to regain mana and continue to supply the workbench with the magic power it needs to work and produce the required items.
As time passed and evening arrived, Max upgraded his ship to level 3, extending its length to 7 meters, width to 5 meters, and height to 2 meters. The cabin was also slightly expanded, rearranging the previously tight spaces and making the rooms more spacious, allowing him to move freely without feeling cramped.
As night fell, Max had gathered a substantial haul of treasure chests, hunted a shark, and retrieved a bronze treasure chest that his talent had drawn toward him.
Max put all the treasure chests on the deck and began opening and found he got wany weapon blueprints which were varying from forks, axes, spears, knives, swords, matchets and other resources such as wood, iron, bread, spices etc.
Max opened the bronze treasure chest and discovered a blueprint for armor crafted from the monster's skin and bones.
Max happily kissed the blueprint, then took out the shark bones and skin. Using the workbench, he crafted an armor that felt satisfying to the touch and, to his relief, carried none of the unpleasant smells he had feared before making it.
Soon he put on the armor and discovered it was perfectly tailored to his size, fitting him comfortably. He was surprised by how lightweight it felt, more like wearing an extra shirt than armor, which brought him a sense of joy.
Max tried various poses while wearing the armor and found it didn't hinder any of his movements. He found it very flexible, making it a good armor with great defense. He tested it by hacking at it a few times and discovered it could withstand a couple of sword strikes and was capable of handling single-point penetrating attacks.
Max quickly used the extra shark skin to craft another piece of armor and layered it over himself, making him appear bulky and feel extremely secure.
He placed the octopus skin on the workbench and crafted another piece of armor, discovering it turned into pink armor that wasn't suitable for his level. He took a photo of the armor and sent it to Sophia, asking if she wanted it since he didn't need it.
Max requested only one beast core and a monster skin as payment, which she agreed to. Max happily traded the armor to Sophia, who thanked him for selling it to her.
Max crafted the shark skin he traded with Sophia into new armor and listed it in the trade channel shop. He set the price as one completed monster skin, a monster core, and 100 wood. Having collected about 2000 wood from previous trades and treasure chests, his total wood tally reached 3000. However, he still needed 1000 more wood to upgrade his ship to level 4, even though he had an abundance of iron for the upgrade.
The armor sold out quickly, so he acquired a new monster skin,Max then crafted it into armor, placed it on the shelf, and traded it right away, making resource collection much easier.
By dinnertime, Max had crafted a total of 10 monster hide armors for trade and gathered enough resources to upgrade the ship to level 4. However, he had to stop production as he had completely drained the mana or magic power in his body.
Additionally, he obtained 10 monster cores, which could be used to power the ship during emergencies for escape.
Max began preparing his dinner and getting ready to rest, but he was interrupted by a series of system announcements informing him that other people in the channel had upgraded their rafts into ships.
Max then saw there were 10 members with only few seconds in a gap between them has upgraded their rafts.
