Chapter 2 - Upgrading to Raft

Max started reviewing the supplies he had received from the basic supply box.

When he saw the quantity in his inventory, he was first stunned, then amazed, and finally broke into joyful laughter.

His inventory held about 1000 logs. While he was aware the supply box could provide between 100 and 1000 logs, he never expected to receive the maximum amount.

Max turned his attention to the talent crystal, a promise of a talent that could develop and grow.

The last section held water and bread, enough supplies to keep him going for seven days on his survival quest.

Max took out the talent crystal, a diamond-shaped gem that shimmered with various colors under sunlight. Without hesitation, he crushed it between his palms to activate his talent.

The moment the crystal shattered, it turned into shimmering light fragments that merged into his body, instantly washing away his fatigue and clearing all negative effects. A soft, contented sigh escaped him as his body regained its strength.

Max had never felt so at ease in his life; it was as if his strength had leveled up, and he was confident he could take on two or three adults in a fight all at once.

Max excitedly accessed his personal interface to discover the talent he had awakened, only to be disappointed when the system required him to upgrade his ship to a level 1 raft to unlock his personal panel.

Undeterred, Max happily tapped the upgrade icon, dragging 100 log icons from his inventory into the upgrade panel and dropping them into the basket icon.

As soon as the upgrade button turned green, Max pressed it without hesitation. The log between his legs began to glow with a dazzling white light that momentarily blinded him, as he had been staring directly at it when the brilliance erupted.

Soon, Max's eyesight cleared, and he found himself standing on a raft made of 100 logs glued together. He felt secure as the solid structure beneath his feet didn't sink, even if two more people were to join him on the raft.

Max then opened his personal panel and checked the raft details listed there.

Item: A level1 Raft

Size: 12 square meters

Durability: 100/100

Length: Fifteen square meters

Sturdiness: level one

Movement speed:6 km/hour

Owner: Not bound/ bind the raft?

As soon as he opened the ship panel, Max received a notification to bind the ship to his soul.

He agreed to the binding and felt a slight tingling sensation at the center of his forehead. The system then informed him that the raft had been successfully bound to his soul.

Max rubbed the center of his eyebrows where it stinged and knelt on the raft edge to see his reflection of his face and see why he felt the tingle.

Max then discovered that a red-colored ship anchor tattoo had been printed on his forehead.

Max tried to erase the tattoo, but no amount of rubbing showed any sign of removing it from his forehead. Instead, his head began to ache from the forceful scrubbing.

After his wasted efforts to scrub off the mark, Max shifted his gaze back to the personal panel and found his personal attributes and his talent were displayed in the sheet.

Survivor: Driven by an unyielding will to survive in any extraordinary place, develops a heightened sixth sense that can detect treasure chests and other resources floating in the ocean from afar, greatly enhancing their chances of survival.

Max was thrilled to discover his newfound talent, the ability to sense treasure chests. This skill gave him an edge over others, and he was convinced that keeping this advantage could bring him extraordinary rewards.

He closed his personal panel and turned his eyes to the horizon, feeling a pull in that direction as soon as his talent was activated.

Max sat at the center of the raft, closed his eyes, and connected with it, guiding it toward the direction where he sensed resources to collect.

The raft moves using the spiritual power or mana within the captain's body, and the distance it can travel depends on the amount of mana or spiritual energy the captain possesses.

One spirit point or 10 mana points are enough to propel the raft 100 meters across the ocean.

Max soon opened his eyes and mentally directed the raft to move toward the direction his senses indicated, where a treasure awaited.

Within about ten minutes, Max felt his spirit energy drop significantly, leaving him strained. Fortunately, he managed to reach his destination just in time.He stopped the raft and took a moment to rest, recovering from the mild headache caused by the rapid depletion of his spirit energy.

After recovering from his headache, Max stood up on the raft, searching for the treasure chest, when he noticed seaweed floating nearby. Using the black iron spear, he pulled the seaweed closer to the raft and discovered the treasure chest hidden within it.

With some effort, Max managed to drag both the chest and the seaweed onto the raft. As soon as the seaweed was fully onboard, it vanished, automatically being stored in the inventory, leaving only the treasure chest behind.

Max then found the treasure chest was entirely made of wood, and max understood by seeing it that it was lowest grade chest.

"I wonder what I'll get from the box," Max thought eagerly as he began his ritual of praying to all the gods before opening the treasure chest.

This time, a gentle white light flashed briefly, and a few items appeared inside the box.

Unlike the special treasure chest that vanished after being opened, the wooden treasure chest remained on the raft, showing no signs of disappearing.

"Let's see what you have here?" Max peered into the box and found few wood blocks and one portion of food in the box.

Max quickly transferred the items into his inventory and chose not to dismantle the wooden box, planning to use it to store other unimportant items.
