After regaining her clarity, Selina immediately realized that the company she had thought to be just a regular commissioning establishment, are actually capable of exhibiting beyonder powers ranging from an intense radiation of sunlight to mysterious abilities capable of slightly delaying the vampires.
I-Isn't this supposed to be a commissioning company? Confusion rushed within Selina. Although shocked, she was grateful that it shifted her situation positively.
One of the vampires, disintegrated before her, resulting from Klein's use of what seems to be a plate and Dunn Smith's precise gunshot.
But instead of producing a body, the vampire's being melted into ash that dropped a transparent wriggling object before disappearing immediately.
What? Selina was in disbelief. The vampires that had been on her trail weren't real.
Then suddenly, all of the vampires turned toward her, their eyes stared intently.
Realizing the changes, Leonard quickly turned toward Dunn Smith and raised his voice. "Captain! They're heading for the lady!"
Dunn immediately knew what he was referring to, it was the silver-haired lady whose origin was unknown yet ended up in the front door of their establishment, covered in deep cuts and bruises.
He quickly turned toward his teammates and ordered with a raised voice. "Don't let them get near the woman!"
Then, the next second, he aimed and pointed at the two vampires in pursuit, in hopes that Klein already knew what actions to take.
Sunlight bathed the entire edifice of the hall, engulfing both Klein, his teammates and the vampires in a simulated broad day.
Yet the vampires remained unharmed, or rather, came slightly scathed, concealed by their additional swarms acting as shades.
The swarms of bats disintegrated along with the light.
Bang!
A gunshot rang from the corner!
Leonard had been constantly shifting positions amidst the light. Although also blinded by it, the layout of the whole building have already been etched into his mind like the back of his palm, allowing him to move even if obscured.
Splash!
Blood splattered from the chest of one of the flying foes. Leonard's bullet had directly hit the heart!
As the light gradually receded, the vampiric woman turned to dust, producing a transparent object that wriggled out of existence.
Though he had managed to eliminate the pursuing vampire. The other still kept his momentum.
The rest of the vampires grew an excessively long nails made of darkness.
This vampires went in a separate directions, heading towards Seeka Tron and Frye.
Seeka Tron kept her firing, but against the agility of the creature. She attempted to roll on the side for cover.
But with a slash of its dark claws.
Splash!
Blood splattered from her shoulder, deep and severe. Seeka's face contorted as she let out a painful cry. "Ahhh!"
Her revolver was thrown to the side.
Along with Seeka, Corpse Collector Frye managed to evade, but his left arm experienced a deep cut, slightly revealing his white, milky bone.
Seeing this, Dunn quickly depleted a few rounds of gunshots.
Bang! Bang!
Intending to either pierce the suspended vampires to their heart or fend them off from their wounded teammates.
But his bullets failed to hit the moving targets.
However, the next moment, three of them suddenly halted mid-air. Their body becoming much colder than before.
Daly, standing at a distant from the weakened Selina, finished reciting another series of lines, spoken in strange language.
...
After the attack on Seeka, the vampire who have a long hair, dark crimson eyes, and pale face changed her trajectory. Now aiming for Leonard, who's attention focused on Selina.
A premonition suddenly hit him once more. His head turned to where the vampiric woman was charging.
Leonard quickly darted to the side and rolled mid-air, successfully evading the vampire with her dark claws.
However, just as he was about to return the favor with another gunshot, chains erupted beneath the shadows, cuffing both of his ankles.
In turn, each of his teammates were also caught by the solid dark cuffs.
Then, another two chains once again, shot forth for his hands.
But at this moment, sunlight illuminated him and the others once more. Melting the chains back into darkness.
The woman who have attacked him shifted her target once more. The pattern was consistent, this made Leonard thought. They're trying to delay us!
Urgency loomed his eyes as he turned to where Selina is. Only to see an empty area, littered with small debris.
...
Selina's eyes widened, she couldn't let the vampire take a hold of her. Until now, the capability of this cult in achieving teleportation still haunts her.
Against the wound she bears and the distortion of her sight. Selina threw her weakened body, forward to where Seeka Tron had lost her revolver.
However, upon successful reach. Her left ankle was suddenly caught by a hand.
...!
The vampire had a long and curly dark hair, blood-red eyes and pale skin. Almost identical to Georgia's undisguised form back in Milo.
Held on her hand was a piece of torn garment. It had a specks of blue-tainted lights surrounding the edge, while the center reveals nothing, akin to a blank canvas.
Suddenly, the garment began to glow as multitudes of colors appeared to surround Selina and the vampire, painting the scenery in an abstract surrealism.
At that moment, the two phased out of the establishment, leaving only a trail of blood on the floor.
...
Daly staggered from her stance as she felt her spirituality beginning to wane.
With a slight turn to the left, she saw Leonard, staring at the area of the corridor, covered in trails of blood. His eyes in great horror.
This confused her for a moment. Before realizing that the young lady who had a silver hair, resting in that same spot that Leonard had placed her, suddenly vanished.
By this logic, she quickly turned toward Dunn Smith and the others, who are now dealing with six flying creatures in comparison to the previous seven.
...
With a slight delay from the spirits commanded by Daly Simone.
Klein managed to imbued the Sunbathed Template safely, clearing his thoughts of any malicious desires in activation. This is because the artifact responds to the desires of wielders, adhering to the logic of good and evil accordingly.
If good then you're subjected into praising the eternal sun while holding and when evil, curses you into being a husk of a human, whose entire being is only dedicated to worshipping the sun.
Sunlight engulfed the hallway once more.
Taking this chance, once the light began to slowly fades, Dunn had already pointed at one of the vampires mid-air.
Bang!
The humanoid creature with dark hair and uneven features found itself with pierced in the chest.
As the light dissipates, so does the humanoid creature, reducing into just an orb that wriggled before disappearing.
There were now only five vampires left!
However, at this point, the whole team are now in a dire state.
Klein's spirituality have beginning to reach a boundary, settled for the use of the Sunbathed Template.
He turned toward Seeka, whose hand is trying to stop the bleeding from her shoulder with great difficulty.
Walked up to her, lowered himself and said. "Your turn to use the Sealed Artifact 2-124."
Seeka faced him, glanced at the template held by his gloved hand and replied. "Then can I borrow your glove? Also help me stop the bleeding from... Argh! From my shoulder."
Klein nodded, dropped the template onto the floor, took his glove out of his hand along with his coat.
"Here." He first handed the black glove before going to her side with the coat in hand.
Seeka then wore Klein's glove and reached for the Sunbathed Template.
After getting her shoulder covered, she raised the template with her hand and prayed solemnly.
The prayer specifically points to the Eternal Blazing Sun. However, it doesn't need to receive response, as this prayer is the only way to activate the artifact without risking the side effects from using desires.
Whether it would be good or evil, all have something to be subjected by the artifact.
Bright flash casted a blinding light, engulfing the scene!
Dunn managed to gain distance from the two vampires and fired off another bullet.
Bang!
Just before the light receded, the shot pierced the heart of another vampire, who's vision was heavily obscured by the sudden intense light.
Lorotta, who's goal was to stall until the captain and the others fire a clean shot, now noticed that the frontline are slowly reducing.
Thus, she changed her tactics. Now aiming for their heart, waiting until another light bathed the entire hall.
Bang!
Another flash tore through the darkness of the ruined corridor. It accompanied her bullet which managed to pierced the heart of her target.
...
Somewhere within a plane of painted colors.
Selina raised the revolver, clenched tightly on her hand with great difficulty and pointed it at the humanoid creature identical to Gorgia's form.
Then her finger pulled the trigger, hitting directly at the vampire's heart.
Bang!
The vampire didn't managed to react in time, as her hand was holding Selina.
Blood spilled from the vampire's heart. The next second, the two immediately phased into multiple colors, returning back into the overworld.
...
Leonard was stunned. The lady resting just behind him had vanished along with the vampire charging toward her.
How...
Then, at that moment, light burst from the palm of his teammate, Seeka Tron, awakening him from his daze.
The battle between him and his team was still ongoing. He couldn't afford to lose anyone all for the sake of a stranger.
Thus, he propped himself from the floor and opened the chamber of his revolver.
Six demon-hunting bullets left...
After checking the cartridge, he cocked the chamber back to the revolver, and dashed toward one of the vampires, charging at Seeka Tron.
Bang!
The bullet penetrated the monster's heart, but without the light to follow, the wound quickly healed as the bullet remained within the flesh.
A blinding sun illuminated the entire hall once more.
Bang!
Dunn fired off another bullet and accompanying it was a plague of bats.
It failed to hit the vampire that had turned into dark swarms, charging to surround him.
The swarm melted into the receding sun, revealing the vampire he had failed to eliminate.
Bang!
With the close distance, Dunn fired a clean shot at the heart and along with it, the vampire's dark claws accelerated toward him.
Dunn quickly sidestepped, barely evading the attack.
Drip...
However, the large claw still managed to reach his chest, leaving a large mark on his clothes and skin.
The vampire melted into dusts, similar to the previous ones, it produced a single transparent orb that wriggles in a blink of eye before disappearing.
At that moment, darkness surged the entire edifice of the security company.
Above, was an airship, with a large mass of gas lifting the gondola under its flight.
Multiple people wearing red gloves have all descended from its rope led by the gondola.
One of the arriving red-gloved individuals was a man wearing a black windbreaker. With a very short golden-brown hair, and blackish-green eyes.
After looking straight ahead. The man turned to his side and said to one of his subordinates. "Use the Sealed Artifact 1-63."
The Nighthawk nodded and crouched down, helped the other subordinate to untie the chain around the silver suitcase.
Throughout the entire process, the man's muscles are very tense, as if in conflict with an internal force.
The Nighthawk on the left took a deep breath and pressed down suddenly, causing the illusionary ripples on the surface of the silver box to crack.
The surrounding halo suddenly disappeared as if it was completely sucked into the case. A bone sword, that was less than a meter-long, emitted glossy, pure white light as it slowly floated up.
Its blade had an ancient silver-coated mirror attached to it.
The Nighthawk on the left took the mirror and pointed it at the brick-red building.
The mirror glint with moonlight glow as it returned a gloomy and unrecognizable feeling of distorted building. However, its surface still displayed the very same establishment.
"Let's enter."
After grasping the short bone sword. The surrounding halo became eased. In the following second, the man with a golden-brown proceeded to enter the building.
...
In a secluded area of the lower street, Far-South of the West Borough.
A silhouette of two woman phased out of the strange world.
Selina was thrown to the cold cobblestone floor.
The vampire's chest quickly recovered. However, it doesn't seem to move, only staring at her, suspended mid air, her wings remained stationed.
She wasn't breathing, yet her pulse was still vibrating.
"You're quite troublesome..." A familiar voice suddenly echoed from a dark corner.
Deimsfel, in his black coat and top hat, walked toward Selina with composure.
"Sometimes I wonder how did I fall for such a woman?" He mocked. "But later I realized it was because of your spirit."
His smile widens.
Selina looked at him with bloodshot eyes. "Stop with the vampires..."
She recalled how the Nighthawk members she came across suffered severe marks from the creatures she was supposed to face.
"I'll go... So order them to return." Selina forced her body to stand.
She staggered, almost losing her stance and falling to the ground once more.
What she thought was just an intermediate wound behind her had now worsened into a fatal mark. An ordinary person wouldn't able to stand at such a state!
Her vision was becoming blurry, yet her breath was stable.
Amused, Deimsfel toyed. "Of course, it wouldn't have led into this pointless charade if you had just agreed to return."
...
36 Zouteland Street. In the building of the Blackthorn Security Company.
The vampires, suspended in the air suddenly began to wilt.
Their skin showed countless writhing vermin that began to die and decompose into a pile while the its insectile shape fade, reverting into just a regular flesh.
...
Deimsfel flicked his finger and said. "There... I hope that satisfies you."
Selina still maintained her glare as she replied. "No, I still need to see them."
"Smart." Deimsfel commended, closing his distance from Selina.
"You have my word, no one was killed." He added with a sinister smile.
How could I trust your psychopathic nature? Selina muttered inwardly.
Seeing the lady went silent with her face telling of someone unconvinced. Deimsfel turned to his side and faced the vampire who had dragged Selina into this secluded area.
"Are you still doubting?" He asked. "You see why this woman isn't moving?"
He flicked his finger.
The woman's head began to lift, her eyes gaining fake luster. She faced Selina and smiled.
Deimsfel and her both said in unison. "I hope this ease you."
