"Who are you people? How dare you block our path!?" Gōzu snapped sharply.
"You're the ones getting in the way!" Jessie's voice came from inside the Meowth robot. "We're here to deal with that kid. If you know what's good for you, get out of here!"
With her words, the robot's upper body began to spin. Its two gigantic robotic cat claws, like fan blades, created a powerful gust of wind! Looking at the machine, Ethan couldn't help but inwardly give a thumbs up. He wondered where they had managed to get such a contraption in such a short amount of time.
"Darn it!" The intense wind pressure blew off the Matori Matrix members' berets. With this delay, and watching the freight train speed past on the tracks beside them, Gōzu shouted, "You dare disrupt our operation? I'll report this to the boss immediately!"
"What are you talking about!" James, looking down at Gōzu through the glass cockpit, said. "We're on a mission, too! When did we disrupt anything?"
Since things had come to this, no matter how angry Gōzu was, it was no use. He had to prioritize and make Ethan his primary target. However, when he looked at Ethan again, he realized that after a high-intensity battle, Ethan's Pokémon were at a disadvantage!
"Squirtle! Use Water Gun! Ivysaur, use Razor Leaf!"
The first to create an opening were Squirtle and Ivysaur. This Water/Grass-type combination, when facing the Ground/Rock-type Rhyperior, could deal four times the damage with every attack! Although Rhyperior was a second-stage evolution, its clumsy movements caused it to fall to the ground from exhaustion after a series of attacks from the two Pokémon.
"Tch!" A member of the Matori Matrix could only recall Rhyperior with his Poké Ball.
"Don't get careless, everyone! He's only one person! We absolutely cannot lose to him!" Gōzu shouted, giving a word of encouragement. But no sooner had he spoken than another Pokémon fell.
Toxicroak, a Poison/Fighting-type, only managed to hold on for a few rounds before Kirlia used its psychic powers to pin it to the ground. It was completely helpless!
These two Pokémon were quickly defeated due to type advantages, but the other three were not so easy to deal with.
First, there was Purugly. As a Normal-type Pokémon, it had no special type advantages, but aside from Fighting-type moves, other types could not deal additional damage to it. Moreover, this rather stout-looking cat possessed a speed that belied its appearance. Only Jolteon could keep up with its movements on the field. The two Pokémon, chasing and tangling with each other, had already disappeared from view!
Next was Skuntank. This Poison/Dark-type Pokémon also prevented Ethan's Pokémon from dealing any extra damage to it. Combined with its Stench ability, every time it attacked, a foul odor accompanied it, preventing other Pokémon from getting close!
Lastly, there was Gōzu's Aggron. This Pokémon was indeed powerful. Despite being at a type disadvantage against Gyarados, it was now gaining the upper hand.
"Aggron! Use Iron Tail!" At Gōzu's command, Aggron, using its last bit of sanity, swung its tail, striking Gyarados's head! Gyarados cried out in pain, its massive body instantly collapsing. Just as Gōzu was about to have Aggron press its advantage, the giant Meowth robot, in a stroke of sheer luck, lumbered in front of it.
"Watch my Stomp!" Meowth laughed sinisterly, operating the robot's legs to repeatedly lift and slam them into the ground, causing a series of tremors. These tremors not only failed to finish off Gyarados but instead dealt massive damage to the Steel/Rock-type Aggron, knocking it to the ground!
"You idiot! What are you doing! Stop it immediately!" Gōzu shouted anxiously, trying to go forward to stop it, but the force of the tremors knocked him off his feet as well.
"We're trying to help you!" Jessie snickered. "You shouldn't be so ungrateful!"
"A perfect opportunity!"
Seeing Aggron fall, Ethan's eyes lit up. As he recalled Gyarados to its Poké Ball, he shouted to Ivysaur and Squirtle, who were rushing to help, "Attack quickly!" The next second, a Water Gun and a continuous barrage of Razor Leaves struck Aggron!
With a successful attack, Meowth, controlling the giant robot, took heavy steps and moved towards Skuntank.
Skuntank's moves were mostly close-range. With Kirlia's help, Charmander was barely managing to hold its own.
"Skuntank, use Bite!"
With the loud command from a Matori Matrix member, Skuntank suddenly sped up, opening its mouth wide and fiercely lunging at Charmander. Just then, the Meowth robot lumbered between the two Pokémon. Skuntank couldn't stop its charge and slammed its head hard into the robot's body.
Thump!!
The impact was quite heavy. Skuntank was not only dizzy, but its signature stench couldn't even reach the inside of the Meowth robot!
"Hehehehe..." The Team Rocket trio let out triumphant laughter.
At this point, everyone on the scene finally understood their goal. Ethan, although he wasn't sure why, felt it was strange but didn't care much about it. After all, both groups were his enemies. He had to defeat them all!
The members of the Matori Matrix also realized that Jessie and James were intentionally targeting them. They frowned and gathered around Gōzu.
"Captain, what do we do?"
"We retreat for now," Gōzu said grimly, staring at Ethan. "His strength is truly formidable, especially compared to that International Police officer. If we continue to fight, we have no chance of winning!"
"But..." A member looked at the giant Meowth robot with disgust, unwilling to concede. "What about those two?"
"We absolutely cannot let them get away with this!" Gōzu said fiercely. "We're going back to report this to Ms. Matori. The boss must punish them severely!"
"Yes, sir!"
The members all recalled their Pokémon and, with Gōzu, flashed away, disappearing from view.
"They're really gone?" Watching them leave in such a sorry state, Jessie's mood immediately improved. But she didn't forget the main task and turned her gaze back to Ethan. "Alright, now that those annoying people are gone, it's time to show you what we're made of!"
With that, the giant Meowth robot took a large step and charged directly at Ethan.
The chaotic melee has ended with the Matori Matrix retreating, thanks in part to the timely and mischievous interference of Jessie and James. Ethan has once again proven his strategic prowess, and now he faces a one-on-one showdown against the Team Rocket trio's Meowth robot.
How will Ethan counter the powerful and unconventional Meowth robot? What is the next step for the Matori Matrix and Team Rocket's overall plan after this surprising turn of events?
