"I wouldn't dare," Valessia retorted, lifting her gaze to stare at Alpha Lucien as he lazily picked up the cutlery from the table.
"Then sit and eat," Alpha Lucien instructed, gesturing toward the seat at his right, the first seat, not the second one Penelope had shown her earlier.
Valessia tried to move forward, tried to obey, but for some reason her legs remained frozen. They refused to move toward the table.
"Don't make me repeat myself, Valessia. Unless you'd prefer to be assisted by the maids," Alpha Lucien murmured, his gaze drifting toward Penelope, who was eagerly waiting for his next command.
"T–t–that is…" Valessia stammered. Even with the Alpha himself ordering her to dine at the same table, her body betrayed her, refusing to move.
Zara stepped forward immediately after receiving a subtle signal from the Alpha to assist.
"It's alright, Ms. Valessia. You can sit now," Zara whispered softly, her tone calm, reassuring.
