Chapter 17 - Elective courses

Andria's POV

"You guys are lucky that you came before twenty minutes since I started lectures." The Prof, well, I don't know his name, barked.

Tristan, who was in front, walked to his chair. We are having electives today, which is why there's no Aven or Damon in class. They must be in the Agric lab or the geography lab, who knows.

"Don't you want to know where they?" Athena asked, concerned, she is more enthusiastic about them than I am.

"Wait, Miss." The Professor stopped me just as I wanted to make my way to my seat.

"I'm guessing you are the new student in my class, Aria, if I'm not mistaken, but I think you have gotten acquainted with your course mates." He continued, and I just nodded in affirmation.

"Welcome to my class, I'm Professor Alan, your literature teacher." He said, extending his hands for me to shake, and then added, "But don't be late to my class again, I have low tolerance for that," he said, squeezing my hands tightly until I winced.

I could see my hands turn pink from the pressure he was applying to my palm. Thank goodness the trio didn't choose this elective; they would have giggled mockingly at me now.

I walked like a flash to my seat and, of course, close to Tristan. He looked at me and smiled. I wondered why he was acting so friendly, instead of the stocky Tristan I was familiar with.

I think I need to be scared of this version.

"Sassy wolf, you know we haven't done a proper introduction." Oh, here he goes again. What sort of nickname is that?, I knew he couldn't be normal, after all, he is the heir to one of the strongholds.

"My name is Aria Wolfsburn, you can call me Wolfsburn or Aria, not sassy wolf." I fired back at him.

"Uh, feisty, I like that, but that's not how you talk to someone who just wants to get acquainted with his mate," He said, shooting me a wide smile.

I was becoming uncomfortable speaking to him while Athena was doing a happy dance.

"Now is that the way to get acquainted, by calling me sassy wolf? I looked directly at him and noticed that he wanted to flare up but managed to remain calm.

"Well, I just thought since we are now mates, we should get closer," he said, raising an eyebrow and curling his lip in a half smile.

Is he trying to flirt with me? I thought he saw everyone as beneath me.

We were going back and forth, and I didn't know when the lecturer approached where I was seated.

"What did I say last?, Miss Aria, since you were so attentive," Mr Alan tapped me and I was lost for words, I mean I was getting distracted by some successor in my first literature class, how do I escape this.

And then I remembered that he had introduced a book earlier; what was that book?… yes, the book 'The Glass blood', and I could remember, common think, Aria, you can remember what he said last.

"Miss Ashton knew it was a forbidden love between a vampire and a werewolf, but she would try anyway," I answered him.

I recall that he was doing a plot summary of the book; it was such a tragedy. I remember reading it over and over again in my dad's library.

I would sneak into his library to read some of his books since I enjoyed literature. And somehow it has come in handy.

The book was about a vampire prince who fell in love with his werewolf maid, but the odds were against them, and the maid was banished from the kingdom. Unknown to them, she was already pregnant with the prince's child. Long story cut short, she dies during childbirth.

Mr. Alan looked at me with an eye that could kill. You are lucky that you got that one. Now, please pay attention and refrain from disturbing the class.

"Ok, now you are no longer Sassy wolf, you are now Miss Genius." I glared at him; besides, he was the reason I got picked on right now.

The teacher seemed to avoid him, perhaps because, after all, he is the successor; this is getting old, please.

Mr Alan walked back to the front of the class and continued his lectures, and I ignored Tristan, who kept trying to strike up a conversation.

"Ok, we call it a day," Mr Alan voiced out as he left the class.

Class tests were coming soon, and I knew I had to read for them, but I kept remembering the witch's voice in my head, till the time is ripe.

What does she mean by that? Does it mean a time will come when my scent will be all over the place? Well, I'm in class and present, until that time comes, I won't bother myself.

Soon, the other students started returning from their elective courses. Aven strode in with his usual composure that made my heart leap, his calm demeanor. I see why he feels on top of the world.

"Holla," Tristan called out to him from beside me.

I looked at Aven, and I could see something else in his eyes; it seemed tense and possessive, and he was glaring at Tristan. Was he jealous?

He sat on his chair, and they started whispering things to each other that seemed like they were having a heated argument in code.

I wonder what has gone wrong with the strongholds now, because that should be the reason why they are having a heated argument in whispers.

"Holla," of course, it was Damon. He glanced at me, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that maybe the argument they were having could be about me, but maybe I'm wrong.

Damon walked to the seat beside me. 'Ok, that's right, getting sandwiched by them.' Thanks to the witch, if not, my scent would have been all over the place by now.

"Ok, class, listen up," the petite lady who happens to be the history teacher spoke up, drawing my attention to her.
