Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: End of Danzo

When Naruto finally got home, the sky had already gone dark.

He looked around his totally wrecked room, then dropped face-first onto the bed, completely drained.

His mind was still spinning—everything felt like a blur.

After who knows how long, he slowly sat up, lifted his shirt, and stared at his perfectly normal stomach.

"So... there's a Nine-Tailed Fox inside me...?"

He poked at his belly. Nothing felt different.

Logically, finding out that some monstrous Nine-Tails was sealed inside you should be absolutely terrifying.

But for some reason, Naruto didn't feel scared. In fact, there was this weird sense of... calm. Like something inside him was saying it was okay.

And that feeling didn't come from the Hokage.

It came from that man—the one who stood alone and went head-to-head with the Hokage in front of everyone. The only person in Konoha who dared to enforce Absolute Justice.

Maybe... that terrifying man was even more powerful than the fox sealed inside him.

"His name was... Uchiha Chizumi, right?"

"Absolute Justice..."

Naruto stared blankly at a crack in the ceiling, unsure why those words slipped out of his mouth.

Maybe it was because—after finally being recognized by someone—he just wanted to live up to it. Like... he didn't want to let that person down.

And honestly, everything he'd said earlier? That really was how he felt inside.

No lies. No exaggeration.

He also remembered what the Third Hokage told him after walking him home:

"Naruto, Chizumi's justice is... rigid. It doesn't bend or adapt—it's tough, inflexible, and honestly pretty hard to talk to. And truthfully, it's drifted away from what we call the Will of Fire.

Everyone has their own version of justice. You can't just copy his Absolute Justice and expect it to fit you."

"If you really want justice and becoming Hokage to be your path, then you've got to figure out your own way forward. Maybe think about how to blend the Will of Fire with your own sense of justice."

"Justice that brings real good to the village—that's what people will accept. Chizumi's brand of justice... it's not easy to embrace. Otherwise, he wouldn't always be fighting alone."

"Ahem! I'm not bad-mouthing him—just saying, justice that ignores the Will of Fire isn't really justice at all... right?"

"Man... adults say the most complicated stuff!"

Seven-year-old Naruto clutched his head and gave up trying to understand.

He figured all he had to do from now on was wake up early to clean the streets, head to the ninja academy, and after school, go find Uchiha Chizumi, right?

Wait... what about free time?!

Only then did he realize what he was signing up for.

That night

Uchiha Izumi was soaking in the bathtub, half her face underwater, bubbles rising lazily around her.

She still felt weak.

Back when Chizumi-senpai confronted Fugaku, the Hokage, and Koharu, she had stood proudly by his side, glaring right back at them.

But not a single one of those high-ranking adults even looked her way.

If I were just a little stronger...

They wouldn't have ignored me.

They'd know Chizumi-senpai isn't alone.

They'd realize that Absolute Justice has people who believe in it.

And now—

Even Naruto, the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, seemed like he might join them too.

He was young, sure—but his identity was way too special. He had way more presence than she did.

Izumi let out a soft sigh. A giant bubble floated up and popped.

Then suddenly—she noticed a small shadow reflected on the water.

Startled, she covered her chest and looked up.

A white ninja cat sat casually on the edge of the slightly open window.

"New recruit," the cat said coolly, "Chizumi-sama wants you outside. Big mission tonight. And it involves you."

Then added, "Don't worry, I'm a female."

Izumi relaxed a little, but the cat's words left her puzzled.

A mission that involves her?

She couldn't make sense of it, but quickly got up, dried off, got dressed, and followed the cat outside.

She met Chizumi-senpai in a shadowy alley.

"Check your tools," he said, his eyes flicking briefly to her still-damp hair.

"Tonight, we're taking out Shimura Danzo. You'll be the one to do it. We're about to dig up a rare evil trove."

Izumi froze.

"...What?!"

Kill Danzo?!

She remembered him saying something similar before.

Every time she followed Chizumi-senpai's orders and took down one of the "evil ones" he spoke of, she always felt like she got a little stronger.

He once told her it was a gift from Absolute Justice to its believers.

Wait… could this be one of Senpai's secrets?

But honestly, he'd never acted like it was a secret to begin with.

Still full of nervous excitement, she checked her gear quickly, then blurted out:

"Senpai... do you know where the Hokage is hiding Danzo?"

"I've got a rough sense of it," he replied calmly.

"I left a brand on his soul. But I'm picking up two locations. Maybe he split his soul in half to dodge the Flame of Retribution."

Izumi blinked.

Seriously...? He split his soul just to survive Senpai's last attack?

Still didn't work. Chizumi had found him again.

But then... he deserves it. If he hadn't done evil things, he wouldn't be hunted by justice.

"Meow. Big night ahead, Rookie," Jūjirō suddenly said, landing heavily on her shoulder again.

"Wouldn't be surprised if the Third Hokage put a bunch of Anbu around that half-dead old dog."

"Last night, Chizumi pissed off the Third. Today he annoyed him again. Tonight's the third hit. Think the old man's gonna have a heart attack?"

Jūjirō sounded downright gleeful.

Izumi groaned under his weight.

"Why are you on the other side this time?"

"So you don't end up with lopsided shoulders. I heard human girls care about that. I'm thoughtful, right? Meow."

"...Yeah. Real thoughtful," she muttered.

Meanwhile — Anbu Safehouse

"Huff... huff..."

Danzo, now only half a body, lay sprawled on a cold iron bed. The pain gnawing at his soul never stopped. Nothing dulled it.

His voice was gone. All he could do was wheeze and grimace.

Only one Sharingan eye remained. The other—the Mangekyō he'd taken from Shisui—had been removed "under Hokage orders." He nearly passed out from rage.

IV tubes kept him technically alive. Barely.

Death might've been easier.

But his hatred wouldn't let him give up. Even suicide wasn't an escape. The soul-burning agony would follow him into hell itself.

This power of the Mangekyō... it was beyond terrifying.

Danzo pinned all his hopes on Sarutobi Hiruzen.

If Hiruzen realized how dangerous Chizumi's eye was—enough to threaten even him—then maybe he'd take action.

He stole my Kotoamatsukami. Shouldn't he at least do me the favor of killing that damned Uchiha?!

Danzo clung to that hope. He hadn't lost.

Not yet.

Not until the Uchiha were wiped out. Not until he became Hokage. Not until he remade Konoha.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Faint footsteps reached his ears.

He turned his bloodshot gaze—and saw an old ally: Mitokado Homura.

Homura pulled up a chair, adjusted his glasses, and said:

"Danzo. The medics tried everything. Even Itachi gave it his all. Nothing worked. Maybe only Uchiha Chizumi can undo the Mangekyō he cast on you."

Danzo's face twitched again. He wanted to scream—but couldn't.

Homura sighed heavily.

"You may be stuck here, but you deserve to know—Chizumi's been stirring up chaos in the village. The Daimyō is involved. So is the Nine-Tails kid."

He ran through the past two days.

Even Danzo—lost in constant pain—froze in shock.

That damned Uchiha brat is getting bolder—and no one can stop him!

No, that's not true. Hiruzen could... if he wasn't such a coward!

Does he really think avoiding bloodshed is worth letting this monster roam free?!

Danzo clenched his teeth in fury.

Damn you, Hiruzen...!

"I should get going," Homura said, standing up. "Don't stress about it. Rest."

But then—

BOOM.

The entire base shook violently.

The ceiling above began to glow red‑orange.

Homura's instincts flared—he bolted backward—

Just in time. A flood of lava burst through, tearing open the floor and igniting multiple fires across the facility.

"Uchiha Chizumi!!"

A calm, eerily familiar voice rang out:

"So that's it. You used the Reaper Death Seal to split your soul in two. Thought that'd stop the Flame from burning you completely."

"I used to think you were just dumb. I mean, who stabs Susanoo with a kunai? But turns out you had a few clever tricks."

"Too bad splitting your soul doesn't sever the pain connection. That's why you're still lying here, half-dead."

"Your little idea didn't save you—it made things worse."

"Isn't that right... Shimura Danzo?"

Chizumi had gone to two places tonight. First, the Uzumaki clan's Mask Storage Temple—where he felt one half of Danzo's soul.

Then here—the Anbu base.

Homura's eyes went wide as he saw Chizumi standing calmly in the lava.

"What are you doing?! This is an Anbu base! You can't just break in and destroy everything!"

Chizumi absorbed the lava back into his body. Then turned to Homura.

Homura flinched and immediately averted his gaze—memories of Danzo's current state burning in his mind.

"Eradicating evil from the shinobi world," Chizumi said flatly.

Homura's blood went cold.

He's still not letting Danzo go?!

And how the hell did he even find this place?!

Then—

Two figures dropped in from above: a kunoichi in police gear and an orange ninja cat.

"Meow. This is Anbu turf, right?" Jūjirō mumbled. "These guys are fast."

Within seconds, a group of Anbu formed behind Homura. Only then did he feel even slightly safe.

The Anbu stared in shock at Chizumi—again, already, and like this?

"Uchiha Chizumi," Homura said carefully, "Danzo can't do anything anymore. The Hokage stripped him of everything. He's not part of the leadership."

"Must you really push this to the bitter end? Can't you show some mercy for a fellow villager?"

"If your justice weren't so extreme, people might actually accept it."

Behind him, the Anbu exchanged uneasy glances.

They were starting to understand.

Chizumi had been hunting Danzo this entire time.

And now... Danzo was done for.

Chizumi asked coldly:

"Did Danzo ever show mercy when he did evil?"

Homura had no reply.

If Danzo had left people a way out... he wouldn't be Danzo.

"Absolute Justice is here to remove a festering cancer from the shinobi world."

Chizumi stepped forward alone, blocking the entire Anbu force.

"Anyone who stands in the way of justice... is my enemy."

"Tonight, this path is closed."

"Danzo must die."
