Lucas groaned in pain as Ezra's long nails seemed to be trying to tear his neck apart. His wolf-like eyes glowed brightly as he exerted all his strength to pull the airways in Lucas' throat.
"Is this why you came to this company, huh?!" Ezra snapped.
There was a desire to respond to Ezra's words. But because he was choking, the pain Lucas was experiencing made him unable to say anything.
Ezra's nails tried to pierce the pores of Lucas's skin, which was beginning to weaken. However, Lucas couldn't attack with all his strength during the day because he had almost channeled all his strength to survive under the sun's rays.
"I won't let a loser like you take advantage of the research here, Lucas!" Ezra threatened.
That was why Ezra hated seeing Lucas at the BIOVENA company. Many blood samples were being researched there, and that was Lucas's food. If Lucas knew there was pure blood there, it would be like giving the vampire horde a ten-step head start, and they would go mad hunting for blood, kill all living creatures on Earth, and take over the world of darkness.
What made Ezra even more upset was that Lucas was also trying to clean the blood off the floor by licking it.
Lucas's fangs and vampire eyes disappeared, and Ezra finally released his grip on Grace's neck upon hearing footsteps approaching. Lucas fell to the ground weakly and rubbed his neck, which felt excruciatingly painful.
"What's wrong?" Grace asked, noticing Lucas was in pain.
"He hates blood," Ezra replied casually.
Grace, feeling uneasy about Lucas's condition, quickly cleaned the floor where his blood had dripped. She didn't know that Lucas might have a phobia of blood.
"Are you okay, Lucas? I'm sorry for making things worse for you," Grace said.
"I'm okay." Lucas stood up, glared at Ezra, then limped out of the room toward the bathroom.
There was no intention whatsoever to come to work at BIOVENA to fight with Ezra. Lucas also didn't think about searching for and taking blood for the vampire pack.
Because he had been abandoned.
If he did obtain someone's pure blood, he would drink it himself. There would even be a plan to destroy the entire vampire pack if he gained great power. Lucas would never feel guilty for becoming so greedy.
"Lucas, do you need medicine?" Grace continued to follow Lucas.
"No," Lucas answered and quickened his pace.
"But you seem to be in bad condition."
"Get away from me, or I'll make your condition worse."
As if hearing a threat, Grace stopped in her tracks and only watched Lucas's back disappear into the men's restroom.
In just a few moments, his burning body became so cold. Some parts of his body felt numb, but Lucas was still able to move his limbs slightly. He didn't feel any pain; his mind was floating.
Like being drunk.
Trying to stay in control, Lucas walked out. Suddenly, Grace appeared in front of him, holding a bottle of medicine in her hand.
"I took this medicine from the health room. Maybe you'll feel better with this." Grace handed him the medicine.
Lucas didn't respond. He continued to stare intently at Grace. His gaze grew deeper, as if it were piercing Grace's heart, making her feel uncomfortable under his gaze.
"I'm fine. Get out of my way!" Lucas said, walking past Grace.
Due to the side effects of drinking his own blood, Lucas couldn't see anything that might tempt him. His desire was no longer for blood, but for women, and if it wasn't fulfilled, it would slowly destroy him.
That was why his pack had imposed a strict prohibition against drinking their blood.
"Lucas, but you—" Grace grabbed Lucas's hand. However, her words were cut off as she felt the coldness of his hand.
Immediately, Lucas pulled his hand away from Grace.
"Don't touch me!" he snapped, his face shocked.
"Hey, why is your hand so cold? Is it because you're afraid of blood? But why do you work at this company? Isn't it... hmph..."
Lucas suddenly kissed Grace's lips, even biting them as she spoke.
Grace froze. Her mind was still trying to process what was happening to her and why Lucas had suddenly kissed her. Though it seemed a bit forceful, Grace couldn't resist. Lucas's freezing body temperature transferred to hers through the kiss.
It was her first kiss. Though cold, it was very gentle. Unconsciously, Grace closed her eyes and returned Lucas's kiss.
The desire in his body grew stronger, making Lucas almost lose control. His kisses began to descend Grace's neck, and his hands also caressed her breasts.
Grace, realizing that Lucas was going too far, pushed him away with all her strength.
"S - sexual assault!" Grace exclaimed suddenly.
Lucas's eyes widened as he realized what he had done.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't realize what I was doing. I - I..." He stammered.
However, Grace didn't want to hear his explanation. She dashed to the laboratory, following her other friends, leaving Lucas standing there with his desire growing stronger.
Lucas immediately regretted his decision to drink his own blood. He only wanted to gain energy, but he didn't think about how his body would feel the excruciating pain, and his body would be destroyed if his desire was not fulfilled.
Lucas also didn't want to play with women's feelings by pretending to fall in love to satisfy his desire to live without feeling the excruciating pain that would destroy him.
Lucas also entered the laboratory, and when his eyes accidentally met Grace's, she immediately turned her face away, showing her hatred.
"Lucas, can you come here and help me take notes?" Someone called Lucas.
With a slight nod, Lucas approached the woman. But he dared not look at any of the women. His hands remained busy taking notes, while his mind and heart struggled to control his body with all their might.
Even a vampire who was always aroused by the sight of blood was now completely uninterested in the blood in front of him.
"Lucas, record the data carefully. I feel something is off with this sample." The woman approached Lucas to see how well he was recording all the information.
But that wasn't good for Lucas. His eyes widened as he sensed the strong scent of the woman's body next to him. His heartbeat grew irregular, and his chest felt tight as he struggled to control himself.
"There's something important I forgot. I'll be right back." Lucas handed over the notebook and ran out.
The pain in his chest began to intensify. It felt like being burned, pierced by thousands of needles, and stabbed repeatedly with spears.
What was most torturous was that Lucas wouldn't die immediately. He would have to endure that agony for hundreds of years until his life was over.
Lucas's legs kept moving, leading him into a forest, where his body collapsed. Holding his chest, he curled up and began to groan loudly. His strength was completely useless against the pain he was feeling.
