Chapter 70 - Chapter 70 : our other member Vex

Junpei:

"Have you seen the recent tournament?

You've seen how Alistair, the late principal of the Prestigious Academy..."

(While pointing his finger and tapping the table with it.)

"He was demonified.

It actually is true. Humans can be demons — and much worse — begin to eat humans.

Why do you think even though you are a noble...

You didn't get asked to join or try these seeds?"

Her father said:

"I don't know... it's actually my first time hearing it."

(While looking down.)

Junpei:

"It's because of one thing.

I actually don't know about you — but let me guess:

You're not noble by blood, but rather by wealth.

Isn't it?"

Her father was shocked and said:

"How did you know?!

Even my family don't know my ancestors — they were farmers.

But my great grandma used the farmland and changed it to wealth,

And just like that I was considered a noble.

How did you know?"

The truth is that he used Appraisal Eyes

And found out about his family.

He's smart — I will give him that.

Then he said,

"That's what I'm talking about.

Anyway, if you don't have noble blood,

That means you're a stock — like us.

You know we are just harvested food for the upcoming demonified nobles."

Her father said:

"Wait, what? But then..."

And he covered his mouth.

Junpei:

"That's the reason we are gonna take down the nobles.

My father knew about this.

It's not about 'I don't want to work anymore'.

It's about — this isn't what I should work for.

It's the reason he got killed.

No one actually killed a citizen just for fun or to be evil.

And every person that disappears, got killed, or abducted — it ain't us.

It's the kingdoms using our name and feeding demonified nobles their harvest —

Which is us.

Soon I will have authority over the kingdoms through technology.

And I will use that to uncover all the mysteries that happen."

Until then —

Never say a word about what I told you,

For your and your family's safety.

Plus —

If anyone contacts you saying you must try the demon seed,

Act normal about it as if you don't know.

Mess around, then say,

'Maybe later, I got a lot of work going on, you know.'

And after that — contact me and tell me the person's name."

But soon —

We will wipe them all.

And kill them all.

Not a single one of those who demonify humans must be spared.

Humans should be humans.

Demons should be demons.

That's our job currently."

Her father said:

"What are you gonna do about it?"

Junpei:

"The one in charge of the seeds is gonna be me, Kurai,

And a new member will go to another land —

Another continent named The Elfen Land.

So until they get back, I will be the one to take care of the seeds and the citizens.

If the citizens accept and follow me — it's super simple.

If they don't...

They will have to pay some

price.

As always — violence is the way to get to humans."

He then leaned back and said:

"If you're gonna protect my stepdaughter — I allow ya."

Junpei will and continue to do from this point on it's us vs the kingdom.

Her father said

Then it's okay now.

"Promise me that you're gonna take better care of her than we all do and keep her safe."

Junpei said:

"Nothing is gonna happen to your family. I won't let it—over my dead body, sir.

You don't need to tell me what I should do.

I would protect her with my life.

I could have stayed and changed my identity, thanks to my system, and lived a very quiet life.

But if it means people I care about are getting hurt,

Then it only means I'm dead—not even selfish.

I'm here, putting my life in danger just to see her.

I caused a scene, thinking the class would be stopped and they'd all go home, but they didn't.

I was running, hiding here and there, just waiting for the perfect moment.

Who knows? I might die right away the moment I step out.

So don't make me sound like someone who uses the name 'villain' to create their own selfish desired outcome."

Her father greatly regretted what he said.

He then walked to him and said, "Thank you for your help… all of it."* And they hugged each other.

The father continued, "And please… I know it's hard, but keep yourself alive and safe out there.

Another thing—don't worry about her anymore. We are here.

Don't risk your life to come see her unless you're sure you won't be in danger."

Then he hugged him again.

Junpei was so happy that he spent some time with them.

Then, they told him to go to her room and talk to her alone. So he walked upstairs and knocked on the door.

"Get in," she said.

So he entered.

After that, she asked (not locking eyes with him), "So… what did Dad say to you?"

He replied, "Your father just asked me a couple of questions, but it's okay. He said you're all mine." And he got close to her.

She blushed. "Don't say it like that…" Then she hugged him tightly.

Shyly, she whispered, "I wanna know… do… do… that again."

Junpei teased, "Do… what? Ohh, the kiss?" He looked up, then bent his neck slightly, holding her waist with one hand and pulling her chin up with the other before kissing her.

She raised her hands, crossing them around his neck, hugging him tightly.

They looked at each other… and did it again.

Before leaving, he said, "Goodbye. If you need to talk to me, just call me, okay?"

He thanked everyone and left the house, waving.

---

Then, me and Vex waited for him outside.

Vex said, "It's almost late, you know? If I were you, I would've stayed the night."

He looked at me and laughed.

I chuckled. "You've actually changed a lot."

"Let's go back. You guys, hold me tight—I'm gonna teleport all three of us."

We teleported multiple times before finally reaching Fairy Land.

For Vex, it was his first time. I brought him in a wheelchair, then we entered.

It almost felt like a dream come true for someone like him to reach the Liberators.

But everything came at a cost—and this time, I'm gonna take the blame.

He sounded incredibly happy. Then, he saw the Fairy Queen—a god-like being.

He said he'd pray and even do whatever she asked if she helped him, as long as his legs worked.

The other members were ashamed and scared of meeting him.

They didn't know how to respond.

Everyone here was someone drenched in darkness, dried by a cold, lonely breeze.

They understood pain—it almost felt like they could see it.

That was the core reason they avoided him.

But it didn't matter anymore.

I wasn't here to show empathy.
