My stops were in a couple of stores. First, I got everything identified.
The shirt I got in the dungeon has a speed modifier, allowing me tk run faster. That explains why I could outrun the giant worm inside that dungeon.
The combat boots that I am still wearing add +3 to Magic Control.
I used a Godly level there. Those three levels kept me alive without knowing I had them.
The pants… worthless. It only added +1 to strength, and it was cursed when I got it. Those went to be sold for pocket change.
The items from the camp are another story. I kept the Mystics and sold the rest as nothing of value came from them so might as well get resources for other items.
A couple of the Mystics were useful for me. A Moon Silver Ring called (Lady of the Mountain) with +5 Magic and +5 to Magic Device (a skill that dominates use of items like wands, improving their effects). A Gold Bracelet called (Soul of Distress) with +10 Elemental Resist and +10 Chaos resistance with +5 Spell Weaving. And a Flowery Hairpin called (Lady of Blue Stone) that gives me +5 Spell Weaving and +5 Magic Control and gives 5 levels to Ice magic.
Those are the stats that matter to me.
There is a Bracelet called (Destroyer of Realms) that gives +10 Dual Handed and +5 Strength with +5 Elemental Resistance. I will give it to Aurelia.
And a Staff that gives +10 levels to Holy Spells and +5 Faith, which is going to Lisa if she continues with us.
So, now I have 29 Spell Weaving and 24 Magic. If only I could train my stats and skills! I doubt they would be double, but I could have more right now!
I make other purchases. Some magic books with few pages to recharge some of my spells. Some wands to use magic without using my own resources and some scrolls.
Three of the scrolls I used immediately.
A [Better Material] scroll that took 15k from my wallet, which changed the material of my Kimono from Cave Worm Silk to Magic Butterfly Strand. Defense went from 250 to 350 and protection from 50 to 75.
Next came an [Enchant Scroll], another 15k. When I read it, it made my now called Magic Butterfly Strand Kimono into a +1 item. For each +1, is an increase in defense and protection by 50 each, so now a total of 400 and 125 respectively.
And, finally, a [Random Modification Scroll]. This one costs 20k. All of these are rare and not cheap. I used it in the Kimono and gave me… +5 Constitution. I will take it. More HP will not hurt.
I can continue improving other items beside Bloodless this way. Now that I have money and a place to buy stuff, it is easier. But these purchases took what I got from what I sold and a small part of the money I already had in my person.
Maybe I should have asked the Mayor for more money.
"Now, where is this guy?" I ask when we arrive at the park.
"There are so many souls I cannot say which one could be our target…" Karina says.
"Well, we need to look with our eyes."
The park here is full of people. People walking around, sitting on the benches, resting in the shadow under a tree. It is a relaxing view from all that has been happening to me in the last weeks.
It feels relaxing, like a sign of normalcy while I see all these people of different species walk around the place.
It is actually making me feel like stopping and take a rest.
"I don't see anyone that seems to be homeless or something similar." I comment.
"I have never seen this many people since you found me."
"I guess… since I found you?" The comment calls my attention. "I never actually asked you this, but did you live before being part of the sword?"
"Ah… I actually cannot remember anything from before you found me." She pauses for a second before talking. "I try to think about any time before you took me and all I see is black."
That is an odd way to exist. The way she makes it sound is like she just popped into existence when I picked her up.
Which would make sense, items were generated on the spot and I had no idea a spirit would actually live inside of it.
"What? You are looking at me too intently…" Karina points out.
I did not notice. I guess I do that when I am focused on someone, thinking about them.
"I was just thinking about when I found Bloodless."
"Ah, I remember too." She places her hand in her mouth, with a wide smile and starting to laugh "I remember you running away from a giant beast! That was hilarious! You looked so scared!"
"Hey! Easy to talk when you are not the one that has to run!" I answer to her, now annoyed by her commentary.
"Hah! Angry? Do something about it!" She answers with a smug smile.
And before I could do anything.
"Mommy! Look, that woman is crazy!" A little girl points at me.
Shit, I forgot no one else can see Karina but me. Some people are looking at me like I am talking alone and I feel my face blush.
"Hahahaha! You get what you deserve!"
I will get back at you for this treason!
"You know… when I saw you for the first time, you barely spoke, even when others were around." She flies closer to me. "I am grateful it was someone like you who found me."
"S-shut up!" I answer now feeling too embarrassed with what she is saying. Why is she suddenly saying something so embarrassing?!
"You are so red!" She continues teasing me.
I am about to pull the sword and attack back with the only weakness I know she has, when something happens in front of us.
"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!"
And intense scream, rapturing through the air.
