"Well then... shall we continue?"
Spassslowly looked around, taking in their figures, and calmly stated. Standing around Spasswere four individualsâFreed on Uranus, Hajime, Miledi, and Aletia. Judging by the situation alone, it seemed overwhelmingly disadvantageous for SpäĂ, but while Spassshowed no signs of distress, the four were already severely wounded.
The moment Aldias was confirmed to be down, Miledi and Aletia attacked SpäĂ, who was attempting a follow-up, and then Freed and Hajime added a pursuing breath attack and gunfire, but all of them vanished before reaching SpäĂ. From then on, it was a one-sided massacre. Their attacks had no effect, and simply by uttering words, phenomena that threatened their lives were unleashed. They were barely able to survive just by maneuvering to avoid death.
"Hah, if you'd just go home quietly, we wouldn't need to do anything more."
"Oh? Are you scared, dear? Are you scared? Shall Big Sis give you a hug?"
Miledi spoke to Hajime, who had made a negative comment, in a playful tone, but her expression was deadly serious, glaring at SpäĂ's every move.
"We cannot leave you be. My apologies, but you'll have to accompany us."
"We won't let you have your way any longer."
On Uranus's back, brimming with fighting spirit, Freed readied himself to unleash magic at any moment, while Aletia, though in a natural stance, enveloped her small body in immense magical power. Seeing them, Spassasked.
"Do you perhaps think he will return?"
"..."
"It's futile. He may still be alive, but it's only a matter of time."
That last blow. It wasn't just a magical explosion. It had altered the information of Aldias's physical body, collapsing it from its causal information. Aldias's constantly deployed magical barrier had prevented a complete kill, but it was just a fatal blow. Because the information of his body was rewritten, he could not be healed or regenerated.
"Your hope will soon die. It's over."
"It's not over. Aldias will definitely come back."
"...On what basis?"
"Because we believe in him."
Because he's family. Because he's their loved one... More than anything, because he's Aldias . That reason alone was enough.
"Besides, we promised."
Sometimes it's okay to stop. It's okay to look back. During that time...
"Rely on us!!"
At Aletia's shout, Freed's fighting spirit also surged, and Miledi and Hajime's will to fight increased as if pulled by his aura. Seeing them, Spasscouldn't help but feel that it wasn't futile resistance.
Impossible. There's absolutely no way he could return. He knew that well. Yet, the moment he brought Aldias down, a great sadness filled SpäĂ's heart. There had been several times before when beings like him, who brought hope, appeared. In the end, they never met his ideal, and he ended up disappointed, but he had never felt such sadness. Even if they didn't reach his ideal, they certainly contributed to the future growth of humanity. That's what he always thought, and he would quickly move on.
Looking back, it was the same when he first recognized his individual existence. The moment he knew, he wanted to meet him. He wanted to talk to him. None of the previous candidates, even when discovered, had ever wanted to show themselves immediately.
When he found him, he was truly ecstatic. A passion he had never felt for previous candidates. His not meeting his ideal brought her an unparalleled disappointment, and at the same time, a hollowness, as if a hole had opened in her chest.
(Why did I expect so much from him...?)
Had he unconsciously expected that much? Aldias's sacrifice would surely affect the world. Yet, he even thought that a being surpassing Aldias might never appear again.
"...Hah, perhaps I'm getting old. Deluded by fantasies that don't exist, becoming senile..."
As Spasspressed his brows and shook his head, Aletia and the others remained vigilant, maintaining their combat stances, ready to move at any moment.
Still, they couldn't react.
"Devour."
Behind Aletia, a flaming maw shaped like a dragon appeared, threatening to tear her small body apart.
"Ngh!?"
"Aletia!?"
Blood-red fangs threatened to pierce Aletia's fair skinâ
"White Calamity Vortex."
A swirling, shimmering silver vortex suddenly appeared behind Aletia. Immediately after, the dragon's maw was cut in two as if by a single stroke, and then swallowed by the great vortex.
"......Foolish."
SpäĂ's eyes widened in astonishment. It wasn't because his attack was blocked. It was because the being that blocked it was here.
"...Is your break over already?"
Aletia asked without even looking back. The answer came from right beside him.
"Yes, that's enough. Sorry to have worried you."
"Impossible... Why are you alive...? Aldias -kun!!"
There stood Aldias , wounded but perfectly whole.
"Freed, Miledi , Hajime. I apologize for involving you."
"Don't worry about it. We believed in you."
"Well now, if you hadn't come, Big Sis Miledi was planning to beat him up in your stead."
"I never want to deal with something like this again."
After smiling at Freed and the others, who had three different reactions, Aldias stepped forward, in front of them.
"I'm sorry, I'm not confident I can fight without involving you all."
So, leave it to me. He didn't say the words. Still, his back told the whole story. And the four of them understood it perfectly. Their role ended here.
"Good luck."
"Don't lose this time, okay?"
"You incited this. Finish it."
"...We'll be waiting."
"Alright."
Aldias , who responded to their thoughts without looking back, glanced at them, and then Aletia and the others descended to the ground. Without even a glance at them, Spassstared at Aldias with eyes as if seeing something impossible.
"This is... the principle being restored?"
"It seems I can easily manipulate my own body."
"My own... body?"
Spassfrowned at Aldias , who spoke as if it were someone else's problem, but then his eyes immediately widened. Deep within Aldias's soul. A foreign magical power mixed within the raging torrent of magical power, like a raging current. It was covering Aldias's soul as if stitching together gaps. Spassknew that magical power well.
"Could it be... Ehit-kun?"
One of the humans led from another world to promote the evolution of humanity. Ehit, the God of Creation of the human race, who had sublimated into a god and had been manifest until recently. He clearly felt his magical power within Aldias .
"I'm surprised he's alive, but the fact that you two teamed up is an even greater surprise."
"Team up? Don't be ridiculous. Who would ever borrow the hand of a narcissist who's nothing but pride?"
"Hey, you!? What did you just say!? You brat who knows nothing of women!!"
"I don't want to hear that from someone who targeted that brat's body. You're distracting me, shut up."
"...I see, indeed, it doesn't seem like a friendly atmosphere."
Since Ehit's voice was only audible to Aldias , from the outside it looked like Aldias was talking to himself, but Spasscould feel the turbulence in the magical power Aldias wore.
"So? What are you two doing here together?"
"To kill you."
"To kill you."
"Is it just my imagination... or did I hear a double voice?"
A scorching blade was brought down towards SpäĂ's head, who casually deflected the killing intent unleashed by the two most fearsome beings.
â------------
Clang, clang, clang.
How many times had it been? In the sky, flashes of crimson and azure clashed repeatedly, each time echoing with a high-pitched, yet body-shaking roar.
Thundering Rain Dragon
A downpour of magic-composed rain poured down. Spassimmediately raised his palm, but then grimaced and deployed five layers of barriers to block it. Yes, he blocked it. Whereas before, Spasshad neutralized Aldias's magic with just a whispered word, now he had intentionally activated magic to defend himself.
As Ehit had surmised, the principle of SpäĂ's ability was the alteration of causality through "Interference with Principle." The ability to connect her will to the world and rewrite everything within it as she pleased.
However, to activate it, he needed to read the information to be altered. Spassstared intently at Aldias . Then, strange black patterns appeared in SpäĂ's vision. These were the forms of the information bodies filling the world. Only by deciphering them, then rewriting or deleting them, would the phenomenon appear in the world. With SpäĂ's power, it was a swift technique completed in 0.000024 seconds.
That power could not be activated. The moment she tried to read it, white ink seemed to paint over the black patterns. Ehit, like SpäĂ, could perform "Interference with Principle." However, he couldn't instantly read information like SpäĂ. Then why could he interfere like that...? The answer was simple. He didn't need to read it. After all, Aldias's body was covered from end to end with Ehit's magical power. Ehit accurately understood the information the moment it was activated, without needing to read it. A mere 0.000001 seconds. There was no way Spasscould keep up.
However, this was tantamount to the folly of making the magic one was about to cast disappear oneself... yet, Aldias's magic was activating without any problems. Incredibly, Ehit and Aldias maintained a precarious balance where their magical formulas barely mingled. It was less about mixing their formulas and more about Ehit's formula enveloping Aldias's , like an aura.
A delicate magical control where everything would collapse like a stack of blocks if either made even a slight mistake in magical manipulation. Aldias continued to execute this while fighting, and Ehit accurately perceived SpäĂ's targets and defended. It was the ultimate, transcendent technique, achievable only when two of the world's leading magical geniuses combined forces.
Such perfect coordination, impossible even for a seasoned duo who had spent years together, would normally suggest partners who were perfectly in sync. However, the reality was completely different.
"Too slow! Your magical output was slightly delayed!!"
"You're the one whose magic control is faltering!!"
"That's because you were slow, you idiot!!"
"You fool, can't you even realize you're getting a young upstart's mess cleaned up for you?!"
"Was it pointless to expect anything from someone who's always been alone!?"
"Hah, I don't want to hear that from some lonely man who can't even stand on his own two feet at his age!?"
"Ah!?"
They were fighting fiercely. Even if Ehit's voice was only audible to Aldias , it was clear to anyone watching that they were constantly insulting each other. They showed perfect coordination, but in reality, they weren't supporting each other.
âI can do this much. So you just follow along on your own.
This was the only common point between them. Working together? Don't make me laugh. There was no such understanding between them. They were merely using each other for their own purposes. That's why Aldias and Ehit never held back. This guy was annoying. He didn't like him. He didn't even want to see him.
âBut, he'll probably keep up with this much anyway.
Aldias , from his experience of being tormented for many years. Ehit, from his experience of being dragged down from his divine throne.
This guy will easily keep up with this much. It was already a kind of trust. There's a saying in Hajime's homeland, Earth:
"The more they fight, the closer they are."
If you were to say this to them, they would not only vehemently deny it but might even send murderous intent your way (Ehit would come to kill without question), but there would be no other moment where this saying was more appropriate.
"Hmph!"
"Guh!?"
Aldias's flame-clad "Claiomh Solais" shattered SpäĂ's magic sword, and he pursued SpäĂ, who was blown away by the impact, to land a follow-up attack. However, even if he couldn't interfere with Aldias or the magic he unleashed, he could interfere with other things.
"Burst."
"Gahhh!?"
In an instant, the space around Aldias exploded with a flash. Aldias , blown away, quickly regained his posture, but a follow-up attack assailed him without delay.
"Distort."
The space twisted grotesquely, then swirled as if to tear the target apart. The moment Aldias's left arm twisted into a grotesque shape, Aldias's figure vanished.
"Kuh!?"
At the same time, a rising slash from Aldias , who appeared in SpäĂ's blind spot directly below, cut through Spassand his barrier. The moment he tried to bring down a counter-slashâ
"Don't... underestimate meeeeee!!"
An impact as if the atmosphere around Spasshad exploded was unleashed, blowing Aldias away.
"That was..."
"Don't let your guard down."
As Aldias , regenerating his twisted arm, watched the phenomenon before him with wide eyes, Ehit's warning echoed.
"His 'Interference with Principle' ability is troublesome. But a god cannot be so petty as to rely on such cheap tricks."
The space in front of Spasswarped, and Spassplunged his arm into it without hesitation. And from it, he pulled out a sword drenched in crimson blood. The sword, once bearing a divine name, had become a demonic blade that had drunk the blood of a beloved child, forever seeking the meaning of taking that life.
"Demonic Sword, Fragarach."
Spassdrew the sword, which she had not once drawn since that day. Simultaneously, an immense magical power surged from SpäĂ's body. A formidable aura, sharp as needles, pricked the skin.
"Absolute and overwhelming 'power' that is eternally unchanging. That is the true nature of a god."
In that instant, feeling the murderous intent behind him, Aldias swung his sword backwards. However, that blow did not strike SpäĂ. Grey danced through the air. SpäĂ, twisting her body in a circle to follow the sword's trajectory and evade, unleashed a single strike that would bisect Aldias , who was stiff with his sword swung back.
A pure sweeping attack. Yet, a blow from a "God" who had surpassed the realm of "humans" transcended the framework of a mere slash, becoming a devastating blow that annihilated all things.
Defense would not make it in time. Aldias , judging this, deployed a fist-sized barrier at the contact point between his torso and the sword. The moment the barrier briefly suppressed the sword's speed, he soundlessly transferred behind her and brought his sword down.
But as if predicting such a move, the sword's trajectory bent grotesquely like a snake, then swung upwards behind him. Two sword flashes clashed, and the air... no, the world, cracked. Crimson and azure sparks collided fiercely, and a high-pitched sound echoed in the heavens, as if the world screamed. As power clashed with power, Aldias narrowed his eyes, and an invisible magic bullet was fired towards SpäĂ. He had a momentary vision of Spassbeing blown away by a blow to her unguarded torso, but the space in front of SpäĂ's chest, who had read Aldias's movement, warped, and the magic bullet swallowed there was fired back with the same output.
"Guh!?"
Before Aldias , who was blown away, Spassthrust her arm forward as if pushing him. The moment Aldias , sensing danger, held his sword like a shield, an impact like being struck by a blunt instrument was transmitted through the sword, further blowing Aldias backwards.
Even as he was blown away, Aldias placed a finger on the guard of "Claiomh Solais." He then slid it along the blade, and crimson flames surged along the blade, making the scenery around Aldias shimmer like a heat haze due to the immense heat.
Blazing Inferno
Using the spring in his entire body, Aldias sprang his upper body forward, and from the tip of his outstretched sword, a spiraling explosion of flames, shaped like a great serpent, was unleashed.
Snow Blossom Scenery
Countless pure white butterflies appeared from around SpäĂ, swarming the great serpent of flames. Even as their bodies were incinerated, the deathly cold produced by the surging butterflies froze the great serpent. The sudden vaporization of moisture enveloped the entire field of vision in steam.
Before that sight, Spassheld her magic-infused blade horizontally, ready. SpäĂ's keen senses accurately detected a presence rapidly approaching from beyond the dense steam.
The casually rising steam currents were sucked into a single point within. The first thing visible was the blade of a sword, its tip gleaming black with magical power. Aldias , thrusting "Claiomh Solais," appeared, tearing through the steam. The moment he burst forth, Spassalso thrust "Fragarach" forward to intercept.
Oni's Cry, Seven-Collapse Mountain
Splendid, White Conquest Heaven
The clash of concentrated magical power caused a distortion in space, and black and white energy became lightning, destroying the atmosphere.
(âSo heavy!)
The stalemate lasted but a moment. Aldias was gradually pushed back by the impact transmitted through the arm holding the sword. He gritted his teeth and tried to endure, but SpäĂ's blow, increasing in pressure, pushed him back forcefully.
"With your level of power, it's impossible to kill me!!"
Experience is time. Time is strength. No matter how much resolve you carry, it is tiny and light compared to me, who has spent hundreds of millions of years on a single wish.
"I won't stop! I can't stop! To not let that child's death be in vain!! Humanity must be strong!!"
Spassraised his hand to the heavens, and the veil of light covering the sky began to converge, forming a single pillar of light. The heavens shone. The stars twinkled. The earth glowed crimson. The world shimmered. A sight as if all the "light" scattered across the world had converged. No longer could it even be perceived as light, but the very concept of white. The primordial scene that existed before the world existed.
The primordial light manifests.
"Weakness is a sin! For the realization of a world where no one grieves..."
And the future of humanity she believed in. The future of humanity I wished for.
"I reject you!!"
Spassbrought his hand down.
Breath of Genesis - Beginning of Renewal
The beginning magic that destroys all and creates all. The primordial light that creates one rained down from the heavens with a myriad of trajectories. An aurora that guides "thousands" to paradise and invites "one" to ruin. It was unleashed upon the "one" before her.
Neither evasion nor defense was possible. A lightning of judgment, unavoidable and hitting its mark, rained down on any target Spassperceived, regardless of whether it was organic or inorganic. Aldias , who immediately recognized the danger, attempted to evade by teleporting just before it activated, but the pillar of light easily swallowed Aldias , as if to say such an attempt was futile.
