==============
"Right!!"
With the word, Shea leaped sideways, away from her spot. Immediately after, a crater formed on the ground where Shea had been standing, as if a meteor had struck.
"There!!"
She immediately twisted her body and swung Doryukken at the top of the crater, but it cut through empty air without resistance.
"Ugh, come on!! I missed again! What am I supposed to do!?"
Seeing that she couldn't hit, Shea backstepped to gain distance, suppressing the urge to stomp her foot, and shouted in frustration. This had been repeating for a while now. The enemy was invisible, she couldn't hear a single footstep even with her rabbit ears, and to make matters worse, her intuition wasn't working. In such a situation, how was Shea able to keep evading the enemy's attacks? The answer was thanks to the power of "Divine Revelation," a derivative skill of her "Future Sight." By glimpsing scenes of her future, she was barely managing to dodge the attacks. After dodging, she would launch an attack at where the enemy should be, but since she could only wildly swing Doryukken at an estimated location, she couldn't land a proper hit.
One might think, why not counter-attack in conjunction with the enemy's attacks? But this invisible enemy surpassed Shea in terms of raw strength. While Shea's "Divine Revelation" could show her how she would die, it didn't reveal the exact position or angle of the attack. After all, she couldn't see the enemy. To attempt a speculative counter-attack against such an enemy? It was nothing short of a foolish tactic. Counter-attacks truly showed their worth when the opponent's attack was completely read. It wouldn't succeed unless she at least knew the direction the enemy was coming from.
"Seriously, give me a break..."
Shea muttered softly, her legs trembling slightly, her breathing ragged. She was clearly fatigued. No matter how low the magic consumption of "Divine Revelation" was, using it constantly accumulated a significant drain. Furthermore, being continuously targeted by an invisible enemy and seeing her own death repeatedly to avoid attacks was chipping away at her mental state, even more than her magical power or stamina. However, in such a situation, the enemy wouldn't wait for her.
Shea reacted to another precognition and steeled herself.
(There's no way I can win like this anyway. In that case, it's all or nothing...!)
Shea, who had previously chosen to evade, closed her eyes and relaxed her body on the spot. And the moment a horizontal blow touched Shea's left armââ
"ââ!!"
She twisted her body on the spot, forcibly evading the blow, and in that momentum, swung Doryukken horizontally.
After a metallic clanging sound, something was sent flying with a crash.
"I got a hit!!"
Shea clenched her fist, pleased that her strategy had worked. Shea's plan was to intentionally not evade the enemy's attack, but rather, the moment the attack touched her skin, she would parry it and immediately counter-attack without giving the enemy a chance to escape. It sounded simple in words, but how many people, even if they thought of it, could actually execute such a thing? Beyond the skill of parrying an attack the instant it touched her, what was truly incredible was her audacity to wait without evading an attack that carried the risk of instant death. However, it was just a single hit, and based on the impact, she hadn't finished it off yet. Honestly, just one successful hit was like a miracle, but Shea had no intention of giving up.
"I will definitely survive and return to Hajime-san! And then, I'll see the world where Hajime-san was born! There's no way I'm dying in a place like this!!"
Shea roared, steeling her resolve, but the enemy, unconcerned, pressed in on her. A mindless monster had no reason to listen to such determination. The moment the monster, which had crept up behind Shea, raised its armââ
"HYPER MILEDI KICK!!"
Suddenly, a voice like the ringing of a bell, utterly out of place on a battlefield, was heard, and something shot past Shea at high speed. A tremendous roar echoed as something was sent flying, followed by a dull thud as a massive object hit the ground.
"Yeah, nailed itâ It was a guess, but it seems you can erase your own sound, but not the sound of objects around you~"
The girl, who landed softly on the ground, pumped her fist in a satisfied gesture, then nodded to herself as if she had come to a realization. She was a girl of about fourteen or fifteen, with golden hair tied in a ponytail and sky-blue eyes. Shea had never seen this girl before. However, the voice the girl produced was annoyingly familiar.
"That voice... C-could it be Miledi?"
"Correct, correct, absolutely correct! It's the beautiful warrior girl who appears in everyone's hour of need, Miledi-tanâ Kyu-piin!! Alright, applause~ clap-clap-clap!!"
She was half-disbelieving herself, but the irritating way of speaking was undoubtedly Miledi. Only Miledi was enough to say "Kyu-piin" to herself.
"Wait a minute! Your body?! Why are you in a human body?"
"What do you mean 'what'? Miledi-san was originally human, you know? Shea-chan, you're as clumsy as ever~. Well, Miledi-san's cuteness is something that can be called a world treasure beyond human limits! So it can't be helped if you misunderstood! Sorry for being so cute!!"
A vein throbbed on Shea's forehead at the familiar words and actions, but cutting her off would only lead to multiple layers of retort. Besides, this was a battlefield. Calm down. I'm an adult. I'm a grown woman who can switch gears. She told herself this.
"By the way, Shea-chan, why are you alone? Oh, could it be you wet yourâ"
"I'll crush you!!"
Retraction. It would be better for the world to crush this beast right here, right now.
"Now, now, calm down. This is an important battle to decide the fate of humanity, you know? Let's at least choose the time and place."
"KYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!"
Miledi's words, spoken as if calming an unruly child, finally made a strange shriek escape Shea's lips. She was completely being toyed with in Miledi's palm.
CRACK.
At that moment, the sound of crumbling rubble came from the direction Miledi had kicked. Even the two of them shifted their attention.
"So? What's with that body?"
"This? This is a present from Aldias-kun."
"From Aldias-san...?"
Hyper Miledi-san
The naming, of course, was by Miledi herself. It was a combat doll Aldias had created using his memories of Ehit. In essence, it was the same as a divine apostle like Noint. However, unlike a generic mass-produced divine apostle, this was a custom-made type, tailored specifically for Miledi herself. It wasn't just a doll; it was adjusted to suit Miledi's combat style. In terms of appearance, the Miledi Golem might look stronger, but this one was far superior in pure power and durability, not just magical efficiency.
"And now... don't interrupt a maiden's conversation. How boorish."
'Kaigou' (World-Shattering)
Suddenly, Miledi's voice shifted from its usual cheerful tone to a flat, spine-chilling one. At that moment, the ground directly in front of Miledi vanished.
"Invisible? Inaudible? Unperceivable? Yes, it's certainly an amazing stealth ability. The ability to make Miledi-san unable to grasp your exact location is commendable. But if I just crush everything in my sight, it doesn't matter, right?"
Just outside the effective range of the magic. The ground had caved in, forming a cliff. Peeking down from the edge, only a single pillar of ground remained, pushed down to the very bottom of the earth. On top of it, a clear imprint was left, as if the ground had been hollowed out to perfectly fit a human shape. Presumably, something invisible had been crushed there.
"Oh? You fixed the surrounding space with spatial magic and stopped me. You're surprisingly capable. But to stop me, you'd need someone like Na-chan, otherwise it's useless, you know?"
'Kaigou'
The column began to crack from the top as the pressure of the continuously layered gravity, pushing it down, intensified. The pillar was cracking.
"You know, I'm actually pretty angry, you know? Being toyed with by your master as he pleased. And then, at the end of it all, wanting to protect humanity? Hahaha, what a third-rate actor. Even an amateur could come up with a better script."
Shea, standing behind Miledi, couldn't see Miledi's expression, but she could sense it from the atmosphere.
(She's furious.)
Perhaps it was also due to the influence of her human body after being a golem. Until now, Miledi had expressed her emotions through the changes in her smiley face mark, her voice, and the busy movements of her small golem body, but with a human body, every slight movement now conveyed the hatred Miledi had hidden deep within. Even though it wasn't directed at her, cold sweat ran down Shea's back.
"Well, whatever. It's pointless to say anything to you, since you don't have self-awareness anyway."
'Kaigou'
As if boosted by Miledi's voice resounding for the third time, the pillar disintegrated into dust, leaving a bottomless, dark abyss in front of Miledi.
(She effortlessly dealt with an enemy I struggled with...!)
She hadn't underestimated her. She thought she understood. Yet, she was still astonished by the sheer power of the person before her.
This was the Liberators' leader, Miledi Reisen.
As Shea held her breath, gazing at Miledi's back, Miledi suddenly spun around to face her.
"Well, I guess I got a little too hyped up. It's totally overkill, isn't it? â"
Her voice had already returned to its original light tone from the flat one she had used moments ago. As Shea secretly exhaled in relief at this, she noticed Miledi staring intently at her. Miledi was even saying "stare" out loud.
"Um, what is it?"
"Here."
Feeling somewhat itchy and uncomfortable, Shea asked Miledi for a reason, and Miledi pulled a handkerchief from her pocket and handed it to Shea.
"I don't have a change of clothes, as expected, but just wipe yourself with this for now? Oh, you can have this handkerchief. It's kinda gross now."
This time, Shea actually swung Doryukken at Miledi.
Dragon vs. Dragon
"GROOOOOOOOAR!!"
Tio, in her dragon form, soared through the sky, engaging in a grand spectacle against numerous wyverns and dragons. Her fangs effortlessly tore through shimmering wings, and her claws easily ripped apart sturdy scales. Tio, having experienced the Great Dungeon exploration with Hajime, possessed overwhelming power compared to other dragonkin. Forming a clumsy alliance would only hinder her, so she had separated from the other dragonkin and was undertaking skirmishes across the entire battlefield by herself. However, even if each enemy wasn't a major threat, their sheer numbers were frustrating Tio.
"This is troublesome... Should I just blow this whole area away?"
"Calm down, Tio Klarus."
A man's voice reached Tio's ears, who coincidentally had started uttering dangerous remarks just like her master.
"Hm? Freed-dono, is that you? Is it alright for a commander to be in a place like this?"
"It matters not. My training is not so weak that it would collapse if I were absent. Besides, there are other capable individuals."
Freed, riding on Uranus, confirmed that there was no problem, then glared intensely at the distant sky.
"Furthermore, I've confirmed that a rather unsettling individual is approaching here."
"Unsettling individual?"
Tio tilted her head, then turned her neck to follow Freed's gaze, and it came into view.
A Dragon. A dragon whose entire body was dyed pure white, just like other dragon species. In terms of being a pure white dragon, Uranus was the same, but unlike Uranus, who possessed a biological mysticism, these dragons gave off only an uncanny impression, like bloodless wax figures.
"Hmm, that's quite a large dragon. The ones around here look like mere specks."
Though still distant, its size difference was apparent compared to other dragons flying nearby. It was still somewhat blurry, but it was considerably massive.
"If it were a dragon... that would still be better."
"What do you mean?"
As Freed instructed, Tio narrowed her eyes and gazed intently at the dragon, then noticed its abnormal appearance.
The parts that were thought to be pure white scales were formed by the agonizing faces of angels, and its two pairs of wings, large enough to envelop its body, were composed entirely of bloodless angel arms, each feather being an arm. Furthermore, countless eyeballs embedded from its head to its tail rolled frantically.
This was a human-body composite dragon chimera, its entire body constructed from the raw materials of divine apostles. By no means was it a noble or pure existence like a "dragon."
"How utterly repulsive...!"
"It's their choice what they bring, but thinking of my partner, Uranus, it doesn't sit well with me."
"Krrraah."
At the sight of a being that seemed to insult the very concept of dragons, Tio's and Uranus's gazes sharpened, and Freed also felt a surge of irritation, as if his cherished partner had been mocked.
"I shall lend a hand. Let us crush that dragon-shaped counterfeit."
"No need to tell me. The sin of insulting the dragonkin. Let them atone for it!"
"Krrraah!!"
The sovereign of the skies soared towards the grotesque monster.
