Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: Tactical Sacrifice

Ruyi Disk's third soul skill, Light of Berserk, boosts all attributes by 30% for two minutes—but once time's up, the user suffers severe backlash.

This move is a desperate, high-risk gambit—meant to trade one's life for a chance at victory.

In the original story, the Ruyi Disk only activated this move at the very last moment. But now, with Han Feng and Dai Mubai's strength far surpassing the Mad Battle Team's expectations, they were forced to use this soul skill early—pushed into a corner with no other options.

"Not good! Zhuqing! Xiao Wu! Get back now! "

Tang San reacted instantly. The moment the skill activated, he shouted in alarm, launching his Blue Silver Grass to pull Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing out of danger.

But Spider—cold and calculating—smirked.

"Thousand-Hand Asura… you're far too arrogant."

She was the only member of the Mad Battle Team able to remain sane under the effects of Light of Berserk. That was why they'd made it to the top ranks of the Soto Battle Arena in the first place.

"Goat!"

Spider fired webbing from both hands. Her left-hand strand latched onto her nearby teammate—the Goat Spirit Master—and flung him toward Zhu Zhuqing, pinning her down. Another net shot toward her from the other side.

Spider knew full well that Xiao Wu was more important to Tang San, but she also knew Xiao Wu had a teleportation soul skill—catching her would be near impossible. So she made the smarter choice and targeted Zhu Zhuqing instead.

Hearing Tang San's warning, Xiao Wu didn't hesitate and teleported to safety.

Zhu Zhuqing, however, found herself under attack. Her eyes widened in shock. That Goat Spirit Master—part agility, part power—was already faster than her, boosted further by the Berserk Light.

With a grunt of pain, Zhu Zhuqing was captured.

But Spider didn't hurt her. She knew the Monkey Brothers were still in Tang San's hands. Even with the berserk buff, they couldn't escape the tight defense of Tang San and Han Feng. Zhu Zhuqing? She was a bargaining chip.

"Zhuqing!"

Still locked in a struggle against Mad Rhino, Dai Mubai roared as he watched Zhu Zhuqing get taken. His heterochromatic eyes burned with fury.

But just as he had been suppressing Mad Rhino before, now the tables had turned—he couldn't break free to help her.

On Tang San's end, his Blue Silver Grass began to tremble. The two Monkey Spirit Masters were struggling violently, nearly breaking free—Tang San wasn't yet capable of controlling two berserk Soul Experts at once.

"Oscar! Flying Sausage! "

As a skilled tactician, Tang San immediately saw the key to buying time and shouted to Oscar.

Oscar, always quick on the uptake, used his third soul skill and conjured seven Flying Sausages. He kept one and handed the rest to Tang San.

Tang San grabbed them, intending to toss the berserk monkeys out of the field. But it was too late. They were already upright and tearing through his Blue Silver Grass restraints.

"Get airborne! "

Forced to choose, Tang San abandoned the idea of throwing the monkeys. He quickly ate one sausage, handed the rest to his teammates, and launched himself into the air, pulling Han Feng and the others away to avoid further combat.

But just as he thought they were clear, Han Feng burned through the vines with fire, grabbed a sausage mid-air, and shouted:

"Give me one more! "

Following Han Feng's gaze, Tang San immediately understood. He handed the remaining two sausages to him and warned:

"Be careful! "

"Heh! " Han Feng grinned and took the sausages—but didn't eat them.

His second soul ring glowed as he flashed past Dai Mubai, reappearing in front of Zhu Zhuqing—shield raised, three flaming shields circling him.

At this point, Tang San and the others had taken flight. Dai Mubai was still locked in battle with Mad Rhino, unable to break away.

Han Feng and Zhu Zhuqing were left behind—surrounded by the Ruyi Disk user, the berserk Spider, and two Goat Spirit Masters.

The goat who'd pressured Han Feng earlier had already returned.

With Zhu Zhuqing still bound by Spider's webbing, that meant Han Feng was now facing four berserk Soul Experts alone.

He looked at them coldly. Reckless? Maybe. Regrets? None.

Truth be told, out of everyone at Shrek Academy, the person Han Feng got along with best wasn't Tang San or even the cheerful Ma Hongjun—it was his roommate, Dai Mubai.

Now that Zhu Zhuqing had been captured, Han Feng couldn't just walk away.

"Hah! Reverse Flame Guardian? I've seen you fight two at once. Let's see if you can handle four! "

Spider sneered. Her eyes glinted, devoid of warmth.

"Let's find out."

Han Feng smirked.

No time for banter. Spider launched her berserk teammates—two Goat brothers—straight at Han Feng. With the Ruyi Disk's boost shining down, they clearly intended to take out one of Shrek's aces.

"I said this road is closed! "

Han Feng roared. His first and third soul rings flashed. The three Flaming Shields granted by his defensive skill were strong enough to withstand the attacks of Soul Experts. With the help of his Guardian of Life, he blocked the twin attacks—and also used flames to burn away the webbing trapping Zhu Zhuqing.

His immovable flame field couldn't be instantly cast, but as the fire surged, Han Feng shoved a Flying Sausage into Zhu Zhuqing's mouth and—despite her icy glare—tossed her to safety.

"Damn it, Fengzi! Could you not be gentler? "

Dai Mubai shouted. Grateful, but unable to say it properly.

Han Feng rolled his eyes. No time for chatter. Just as he was about to eat his own sausage, Spider struck—her first soul ring lit up, firing a web that wrapped around the sausage and melted it with corrosive purple poison.

"You've got to be kidding me! Bai, are you a damn dog?! I save your girl, and you bite me?! "

Han Feng cursed as he watched the last sausage melt away.

Dai Mubai had no comeback. He had seen it clearly—Han Feng could have easily burned the web and escaped after giving Zhu Zhuqing the sausage. But to make absolutely sure she was safe, he gave up his own exit.

The good news? Han Feng's flame field was now fully active. For the time being, he could hold his ground.

"Mubai!"

Up in the air, Tang San tossed down the last sausage.

Seeing the berserk Monkey brothers turn back toward him, Dai Mubai let out a fierce grin, slapped the sausage away, and shouted in rage—soul power flaring.

Not only did he hold off Mad Rhino, but he also blocked both berserk monkeys head-on.

He couldn't retreat. If he did, Han Feng would be surrounded by the entire enemy team. That wasn't an option.

Others might not realize it, but Dai Mubai knew Han Feng's second soul skill had range limits. In smaller one-on-one duels, this wasn't an issue—but this was a seven-man battlefield. Without Dai Mubai present, Han Feng couldn't escape.

"Fengzi! You better thank me later! "

Even under a three-man siege, Dai Mubai laughed wildly, white hair flying as his soul power exploded. His strength nearly doubled—he remained unyielding.

This was, in truth, a proto–self-created soul skill. Dai Mubai didn't yet realize it, thinking it was merely a burst technique with painful side effects.

Inside his flame domain, Han Feng stood tall. His three Flaming Shields had already shattered. He fused his Flame Dragon Armor with the field itself, letting him face down four Soul Experts without breaking a sweat—he actually seemed more relaxed than Dai Mubai.

"Hey Bai, you talk more crap every day."

"Learned from the best! " Dai Mubai couldn't turn to look but could easily imagine Han Feng's face. He laughed freely.

"Damn monsters…"

Spider gritted her teeth. Even with her whole team berserk, they still couldn't overpower just two people. Hatred burned in her eyes.

"Brother San…"

Up in the air, Ning Rongrong looked at Tang San with pleading eyes.

Her Seven Treasure Light had long been buffing Han Feng and Dai Mubai, but it wasn't enough.

They looked unbeatable now—two fighting seven—but anyone could see they were burning out. They couldn't last much longer.

Tang San frowned. Zhu Zhuqing had only just been rescued. He couldn't let her take risks again. Rongrong and Oscar were both support types. And though he didn't want to admit it, he couldn't bear to send Xiao Wu into danger either.

In the end, Tang San took a deep breath and said quietly to Oscar,

"Give me a sausage. I'm going in."
