It had been two days since Rina met Misa. After that, she didn't come out of her room for two whole days. Mr. Haruto was concerned about his only remaining daughter. He tried to talk to her, but it was useless—Rina had isolated herself from everyone. Haruto approached her again that morning. He knocked on the door, but Rina didn't respond. After continuous knocking, Rina finally answered, "What is it, Dad?"
Haruto finally got a chance to talk to her. "Rina, it's been two days. What's wrong with you?" Rina didn't respond further, and Haruto didn't ask anything again. After a few minutes, Haruto walked away from the door. He went to the living room and sat on the sofa. His eyes were gloomy, his mind filled with thoughts and emotions. Haruto recalled memories from the past—his daughters playing, both of them together and happy. As all these thoughts swirled in his mind, Haruto somehow fell asleep.
9:24 AM
Haruto suddenly woke up to the sound of someone knocking on the door repeatedly. He stood up and walked toward the door, opening it. Standing there was a girl—long blond hair, beautiful eyes. But Haruto froze when he saw her outfit: western jeans and a baggy jacket. Riko once had the same outfit. Shaking off his thoughts, Haruto asked, "Who are you?" The girl smiled. "I'm Misa. Riko's friend."
Haruto was shocked. It had been almost three months, and nearly everyone knew Riko was dead. Why now? And why her? Misa asked if she could come in. Left with no choice, Haruto let her enter but didn't say a word as he closed the door.
As soon as Misa entered, she sat in the living room and asked Haruto if Riko was home. Haruto grew more confused and agitated as Misa playfully repeated Riko's name. After a few minutes, Misa said, "Oh, now I see. You don't know anything, do you?" Haruto didn't understand. "Look, Misa, if you were really Riko's friend, then you know she's not with us anymore." Misa didn't say a word—she just smiled. Haruto sat there quietly, completely lost. Then Misa asked, "Where's Rina?"
Haruto, slightly calmer now, thought she might be mistaken. He walked to Rina's room and knocked again and again, but Rina didn't answer. Haruto then said, "A friend of Riko's is here." The moment Rina heard this, she yanked the door open. "Who?" Rina rushed to the living room and saw Misa sitting on the sofa. Misa made a peace sign and grinned. "My dear friend, how are you?"
Rina's whole body froze. Her eyes widened, her hands shook. Behind her, Haruto asked, "Rina, do you know her? She's Riko's friend." Rina didn't answer. She just stood there, silent. Misa stood up, walked toward Rina, and grabbed her hand. She looked at Haruto. "Can we please go to her room, Mr. Haruto?" Haruto nodded. "Of course. Rina, take her inside."
Rina, terrified, said nothing as Misa pulled her into the room and locked the door. Alone with Misa, Rina watched as Misa talked nonstop—about yesterday, Riko's favorite movie, her favorite food, the places they used to hang out, even her crush. As Misa rambled, Rina stood behind her, trembling.
Then, suddenly, Rina grabbed Misa's neck and choked her. She slammed Misa to the floor, sitting on top of her, squeezing tighter. Rina's face twisted with rage. "Who the fuck are you? I know you're not her friend. I know it! Then who are you?" Misa, gasping for air, her eyes turning red, smiled weakly. "Yes... yes, kill me... just like you killed her... Go on... ki-kill me."
Rina recoiled, jumping back in shock. Her body refused to move. Sweat poured down her face. Misa, still on the floor, burst into laughter. Rina stumbled to her feet, backing away. Then—the air glitched. A system appeared before her.
[System - Welcome, sinner. Your time is up.]
[System - Please select a punishment.]
[System - 1. Drown 2. Survive.]
Rina panicked. She rubbed her eyes, tried to look away—but the system remained burned into her vision. She grabbed Misa's neck again, screaming, "What have you done to me, you bitch?!"
Misa just laughed. Rina shoved her away and tried to reach her father. But when she opened the door, there was only an endless dark void—a black expanse of nothingness. Rina's mind unraveled. She turned back to Misa, grabbing her hand, begging. "Stop! Please, stop!" But it wasn't Misa controlling this—it was the system. Then, suddenly, Misa hugged her. Rina, confused and terrified, felt a strange warmth. Misa held her tight. "It's okay. I know you can see it. Calm down. I know how it feels." Rina tried to push her away, but Misa wouldn't let go. She knew there was no escape. Why? How did she know?
June 28, 1916 - World War I
A girl who betrayed her own brother. A girl who let him die. A girl who envied him. Her brother was slaughtered by enemies—because she let them in that night. But in the end, she never escaped her fate. The system punished her.
August 25, 1916 - Misa was confirmed dead.
Cause of death? Envy , drowned .
As Rina struggled, Misa held her tighter. Slowly, Rina's body grew weak. She looked at Misa, a tear falling. "Please... stop this. I can't take it anymore. I was the one who killed her. I was the one who killed Rina." Misa smiled softly. "I know, Riko. We share the same sin... and the same fate."
March 4, 2024
The last day Riko and Rina were together.
According to reports, Tanaka Riko died that day. But the one who really died was Tanaka Rina. They had been hanging out by the riverside with friends. Riko led Rina away where no one could see them. In the woods, Riko asked Rina for a favor. "Hey, Rina, can I ask you something?" Rina smiled. "Of course, sis." Riko's face darkened. "I want to be you." Rina didn't understand. "What do you mean?" Riko's voice turned venomous. "It's always you who gets everything. Dad loves you more. I saw it—he gave you extra gifts on our birthday, but I got nothing." Rina, heartbroken, held Riko's hand. "That's not true! I always shared everything with you!" Riko shoved her. "Don't lie! You're his favorite. Everyone's favorite!" Tears filled Rina's eyes. She turned to leave—but Riko grabbed her neck from behind, slamming her to the ground. She punched, choked, and dragged Rina to the river. Rina, still alive, begged for mercy—but Riko threw her in and ran away. Rina couldn't swim. Riko returned to the group, pretending to be Rina, and claimed Riko had gone missing. And so, Riko became Rina—but she never got what she truly wanted. Because she had destroyed everything she ever needed. Now, the system appeared before Riko one last time.
[System - Please select a punishment.]
[System - 1. Drown 2. Survive.]
Riko didn't fight. She didn't resist. She just smiled. Misa sat before her, took her hand, and guided it toward the system's options.
Together, they selected Drown .
The room crumbled. Walls collapsed. The photo of Riko and Rina on the table turned to dust. The void swallowed them—both drowning in the endless abyss of their sins. Misa looked at Riko. "I waited 100 years for you. This time, I won't be alone."
Earlier, when the system appeared to Misa, it had given her a message:
[System - Congratulations, Punisher. You will have a sinner to accompany you. Please enjoy your punishments together]
