Chapter 7 - You Don’t Get To Be My Safe Place

Scene 1: Village Horse Festival Grounds – The Next Day

There's a buzz in the village—Kүres (traditional Kazakh wrestling) and horse racing are happening. Children run with flags, elders drink kumis and laugh. Ainur watches the games from a distance, her smile forced.

She notices Arman tying his boots to join the wrestling match. Their eyes meet—just for a second.

Then she looks away.

Scene 2: After the Match – A Bold Step

Arman wins the match. Villagers cheer. Dust still settles when he walks directly to Ainur—sweaty, bruised, breathless.

He stops in front of her. Hands her a wildflower.

Everyone's watching.

ARMAN (quietly):

"I haven't talked to Dana since I got here. I blocked her. You can check."

AINUR (calm but cold):

"This isn't about her. It's about you. You lost the right to explain with wildflowers."

She walks past him. But he follows—again.

Scene 3: Her Father's Garden – That Evening

Ainur waters tulips. Arman stands behind her, holding something in his hand: her old bracelet he kept all these years.

ARMAN:

"I kept this. Every time I looked at it, I hated myself."

He puts it gently on the stone wall beside her and walks away—finally not chasing.

Scene 4: Late Night — Ainur's Room

Ainur sits at her window, holding the bracelet. Tears slip down silently. She whispers:

AINUR:

"He's trying. But why does it still hurt so much?"

Outside, a soft knock at the gate. She looks out—no one's there.

But on the ground lies a small notebook:

Her old journal—the one she lost years ago.

Inside, a note

"You were always the one I read. I just didn't know how to write myself beside you." – Arman
