Chapter 56 - Chapter 56

Although the tradition didn't really serve any purpose…

Still.

It was a rule set by the Third Hokage himself.

Every newly graduated genin was expected to answer the "Ninja Three Questions" for their jonin instructor.

So—

Yoruha stroked his chin, thinking seriously for a moment.

Then he spoke with a calm, deadpan tone:

"What do I like? Beautiful women. Just like you right now."

"What do I hate? Fat and round women. Like you'll become in the future."

"My dream? To prevent beautiful women from turning into the kind I hate."

"..."

Emmm...

Mitarashi Anko's face flushed slightly.

She was momentarily stunned into silence.

Old man… is it too late to change this kid's instructor?

If this goes on much longer...

I swear, one day I'm going to get high blood pressure and die from this damn brat's mouth alone!

That evening, back home.

Yoruha found that his father and younger sister had just returned from the Nara clan's estate.

"Brother, you're back!" Ino chirped, hurrying over. "Who did you get assigned with? Which team?"

"I requested to be placed alone," Yoruha replied casually. "No teammates. The Third Hokage already approved it."

"Oh?" Yamanaka Inoichi raised an eyebrow, clearly caught off guard. "You're in your own squad? Then… who's your assigned jonin?"

A one-man team?

You actually requested that? And the Sandaime agreed?

It wasn't unusual for kids to have bold ideas—

But Hiruzen actually went along with it?

Was he planning to test his son or just mess with him?

"My instructor is Mitarashi Anko," Yoruha said, matter-of-fact. "We've already completed the bell test. The pairing is official."

Pairing, he said.

Inoichi twitched.

Our son's smart, talented, and powerful... but his mouth is another story.

With a female mentor, saying they'd been "paired"...?

Inoichi had a bad feeling in his gut.

Something was definitely going to go wrong down the line.

"Dad," Ino suddenly chimed in, curious. "Is this Mitarashi Anko an elite jonin? I don't think I've ever heard of her."

In Ino's worldview—

Only elite jonin were worthy of guiding her brother.

In fact, if the Hokage wasn't too busy, he should be Yoruha's personal teacher!

"As for Anko… no, she's not an elite jonin. Her overall evaluation isn't that high. She's a tokubetsu jonin—a special jonin," Inoichi explained.

"What?!" Ino shouted, clearly offended. "A special jonin? Not even a full jonin?! How could the Hokage assign someone like that to my brother?!"

"Dad! You need to go talk to the Hokage—right now! At least get him someone who's truly elite!"

In her mind, special jonin were just glorified chunin with a niche specialty.

Not on the same level as full-fledged jonin at all.

Inoichi sighed, shaking his head.

"Anko's situation is… unique. It's complicated, and not something I can fully explain to you yet," he said calmly. "All you need to understand is that the Third Hokage wouldn't assign her to Yoruha if he didn't think it was the right choice."

After all—

Anko was once personally trained by Orochimaru.

She had talent.

Real talent.

But ever since Orochimaru defected from the village, Anko had suffered. Some of her memories and power had been sealed away by her former master.

Orochimaru had even left behind a Heavenly Curse Mark on her.

It had taken the combined efforts of the Third Hokage and the sealing team to suppress it.

Because of that—

Anko's strength had been intentionally suppressed for her own safety.

"Dad's right," Yoruha added. "Anko may not be elite on paper, but she's from the Hokage's direct circle. The fact that the Third Hokage picked her for me just means I'm now part of that same circle."

He shrugged, expression calm.

"But even if I understand the implications… I'm honestly not interested in all that political stuff."
