Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Malevolence (II)

Sure enough, the next event of Clone Wars is beginning to unfold before me. I think you can group the entirety of Clone Wars into thirty or so major events that take place? Two of which are now over. The Attack of the Clones that triggered Clone Wars, and the Siege of Christophsis, which introduces Ahsoka Tano who successfully rescues Jabba the Hutt's son at the end during a long sequence of events.

Now that I think about it, didn't Anakin wed Padme during the second movie, and not the Clone Wars? I still need to plot out what's to come, cause there's a shit ton to remember. If I can have Adam compile some lists for me, that should help plan my future courses of actions.

But now, I saw Anakin before me. I looked on, eyes hidden behind the green hum of my visor. Ahsoka stood beside Anakin on the holotable. I could see confusion in Anakin's eyes, not expecting to hear from Obi-Wan that the Republic recruited outside help to ensure Master Yoda's safety, even if it was kind of forced. Instead of taking heavy losses like an injured arm or leg, the clones walked away pretty scott free, and I was able to see a Master Jedi's prowess in person.

Boy let me tell you, the Force is no joke. It's said that the Force resides in all living things, right?

Well, what happens if you take someone across the multiverse who doesn't originate from Star Wars, and plop them into it? Does that make me eligible to wield the Force? It involves those Midi-chlorians. I think it's called M-Count for short. You needed to have a certain M-Count to even know something was special with your body. These guys don't exactly allow you to use the Force directly, it's more of a symbiotic relationship where it works two ways. You need to listen to them and they need to listen to you, and it doesn't always work out. If I had to put it in a similar context, it'd be like Peter Parker using Venom?

Most force-sensitive folks had around five to ten thousand M-Count, which five thousand was likely the threshold to even know you're force-sensitive or not. The Jedi would often test younglings at a young age to determine their M-Count, and if it registered in their system, they'd be taken to the Jedi Temple to become Jedi. It's been like that for ages, but once the Clone Wars end, that won't exactly be the case anymore. The Jedi will fall, the Sith will rise, and the Jedi will fade into the past with Rey becoming the quote, "The Last Jedi" much farther later on. I'm talking decades into the future.

With this in mind, back to my question, what happens if you take someone and plop them into Star Wars? Do you expect the magic to happen and bam, you're a force user?

I wish. That's just fantasy talk. I probably don't even have a single M-Count to my name. Instead, my body is infused with Chozo tech, and foreign parasites called the X Parasites. I don't even know if my body still has X Parasites, or if they've all been absorbed already. Even if the Force was used within my perimeter, it's not like I can suddenly create M-Count from it. Your body itself needs to generate them, not externally. So it's likely I don't even have any right now.

But that's fine.

I'm not worried about whether I can use the Force or not. After all, I know what is to come. Project Necromancer interests me quite a bit, actually. I have some bargain chips I can use against Darth Sidious. I'm sure he'll be testing out these blood tests mostly on clones, but if he had the perfect body to progress his test results, aka mine, I doubt he'd refuse. It'd have to be a no strings attached kind of deal, to which I don't know if Darth Sidious would accept or not.

Instead, I could focus on these Jedi, and see what kinds of powers they display. I don't know if learning the Force is even a requirement right now, since I have all of Samus's powers. A few upgrades went online already, and I'm sure there is more to come. And among the Jedi, Anakin here is THE one to observe. He is dubbed the Chosen One after all.

So meeting Anakin so early on is a benefit. I cracked a grin, and ended the momentary silence while Anakin's eyes locked with mine.

"Umm, may the force be with you?", I said, deciding on a cringy line. You'd hear this be spoken as a prayer whenever someone was about to go achieve something or partake in a very tough mission.

"Nice try. It doesn't exactly work like that buddy.", Anakin said, crossing his arms. He regained his composure rather quickly while taking a moment to observe. "Apart from that weird weapon on your arm, you look like you're Mandalorian.", Anakin said, shaking his head. He shifted his head back, and looked at Obi-Wan, acting as if he was seeking an answer.

"You seem troubled, Anakin. They happened to be within the area. Took out over half a droid battalion on their own. We really could use the help. It's much easier to recruit a bounty hunter compared to requesting assistance from the Jedi High Council.", Obi-Wan explained.

"I get that part, but that isn't why I'm angry. You just let this happen without consulting me first!", Anakin exclaimed, obviously annoyed by what had transpired.

"Indeed. Consult with the Council, we did not. Out of reach, we were.", Master Yoda added, nodding his head.

"It's as Master Yoda says, Anakin. There wasn't much that could be done. We can overlook this due to the result. We gained a nice foothold in the Outer Rim, plus it allowed us to meet this individual.", Obi-Wan continued to say, trying to calm Anakin down. "You called yourself Samus, right?", Obi-Wan asked, inquiring about my name.

"That's right. It's a pleasure to meet you Jedi like this. I tend to do things my own way, and my first contract is about to conclude. I don't have anything lined up after this, and it sounds like you all are in a pickle. I have a rather special skill set. Master Yoda witnessed my combat firsthand, but what I can do isn't just that. You see, I specialize in infiltration and retrieval. If you need me to go into enemy territory, I can retrieve a package for you.", I replied, full of confidence.

"Is that right? How high of a success rate are we talking here?", Anakin asked. I could still see a hint of disapproval in his eyes, but he listened to Obi-Wan. He started to ask more about me and where I stood in this.

"A hundred percent.", I answered. I remained confident. Technically speaking, I wasn't wrong here. During this one week or so of travel, Obi-Wan started the process of paying me. It wasn't instant, as it involved several thousands of credits. You heard me right, thousands. The Republic sure knows how to flaunt them. The more territories they gain out of the Clone Wars, the more resources they receive as a natural byproduct. And what does that equate? Profit. More clones. More ships. More fighting power to fight the Separatists. But also more wealth to hire external factors like bounty hunters. That's where I fit into this bill.

And since I was brought into Star Wars, I only had one job before coming onto this cruiser, which I nailed, by the way. Escaped unscathed and out of harm's way. I call that a success in my books, and Obi-Wan initiated the proceedings to make sure I get my payment. To my surprise, it was around ninety thousand credits, making me earn the salary of a high-end post if you were living on a planet like Coruscant. I bet I could rent out a decent sized apartment there, and use it as a temporary base, or if I just wanted to live the low life for a while.

It's not all about missions for me, this is my new life we're speaking about here. If I want to enjoy a slow life here and there, mingle with people, hit up a pub or something and experience alien customs I haven't seen before, then who is stopping me from enjoying that kind of life? I'd rather live like a civilian than how a Jedi would. I might kick this off depending on how this new event of the Clone Wars goes. I still need to register with the Guild first though, then I can consider looking for a place to live now that I have some credits to use.

I wasn't wrong when I answered Anakin either. One job completed, so that meant I had a hundred percent success rate, haha!

As for the original Samus, I don't ever recall her losing a mission ever. After all, you play as Samus in the games. Guess what happens if you encounter a "mission fail"? You lose, and you have to start over!

So yeah, I could confidentially respond like that, causing Anakin to stare right back at me.

"You're a confident one. I'll give you that. It's not like I don't trust Obi-Wan's words either. It is easier to recruit outside help, and we're pressed for time. What do you think Snips?", Anakin asked, looking at the Togruta beside him. Anticipation soared, waiting for an answer...
