Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Coral Moon of Rugosa

Sitting down at my single table inside the Personal Quarters, I allowed Adam to do his thing. He also gave me a full rundown on how to operate the control panel that was attached to this table. It both served as a normal table where I can do some personal reading, but also a station where you can view various types of information. Current mission. Current bounties. A planet's layout, so on and so on. It was a built-in hologram. I currently had the view of what I'd normally see in the cockpit lying in front of me, full three-dimensional.

If I had to give a comparison, it'd be one of those scenes during the clone wars where you'd see big figureheads like General Skywalker giving a debriefing in the command room where countless clones would wait to receive their orders. Not to that extent, of course. It's just me here in my Personal Quarters. But you could say I'm a one-man army. Or a one-woman army? Haha! Seriously, Samus's firepower and combat profile is no joke. I'm probably going to have to get used to the movements and all of that, but she tackles everything from espionage, infiltration, to close quarters combat and even grappling. Samus has taken down world-ending gigantic robots and terrifying dragon-like aliens. I'm looking at you, Ridley. Here's to hoping Ridley doesn't randomly show up here.

I mean one wormhole opened up, so who's to say a second one can't?

It's a lingering thought I'll have to keep in the back of my mind. I was thrusted into Star Wars. But we've crossed the multiverse once. I have to expect the unexpected regarding this.

As far as Samus's overall profile goes, she's well rounded, A or S tier in every style of combat you can think of. She's even an expert marksman, and knows how to hold a blaster well. The feeling will likely come quickly, but something like flying a plane will take more effort than simply holding a mere stun blaster. One cool thing though is Metroid has their own versions of blasters, and so does Star Wars. I know I have my Power Suit, but I'm already looking forward to using lots of different weapons the Star Wars universe has to offer.

Now I'm not blatantly saying a lightsaber will be one of those weapons I end up using. I highly doubt I'll become a Jedi or a Sith, and I don't even know if I'm force-sensitive or not. It's a lot harder to determine this if you're an adult, compared to a kid, right? I'm pretty sure I'm already in my mid-twenties here. Samus should have been around twenty-six or twenty-seven by the time Metroid Fusion ended.

Thinking that, I did some movements with my hand, tapping the panel a few times. The hologram changed, and I could now see the cockpit view. I could see a countless sea of stars in the far distance, and right near our proximity stood a sole moon. It was as if I was looking at a camo outfit. The planet had different shades of green, and some brown spots. There were barely any water sources.

[We have entered the atmosphere. Current temperature is on the rise. I finished an initial scan of this moon, and most of its water sources have dried up. There are lots of coral forests and rocky caverns. I have isolated a sole spaceship that is quite far out from a nearby settlement. Shall I proceed to land nearby?] Adam questioned me, causing me to pause.

A single spaceship, huh? Sounds like someone has come here before me. I'm already ready and can enter combat at a moment's notice, should the chance arise.

"Keep our distance and stay hidden. If this really is Star Wars, depending on who this ship belongs to, they might have been already notified of our arrival. Proceed with caution, Adam. I will do the same. Don't immediately attack.", I answered.

[Understood. I will land in a nearby opening within one of the coral forests. We've just exited the atmosphere. It is quite arid. Current temperature 90*F. There are habitats that are suitable to contain life, but this moon is pretty dried up. I would suggest not being here for prolonged periods of time. Get the info you need, and get the hell out of there. Adam out.] Adam said, cutting off his feed. He left me alone in my Personal Quarters.

"Looks like we need to do this the hard way.", I simply said, getting one last look at the moon's layout. The scenery was quickly changing as we descended. We had long since exited the moon's atmosphere. I'm surprised it even had an atmosphere. The moon I was used to had zero oxygen or other particles to its name. Here, on the other hand, have many explorable moons, on top of planets. Each one can be considered an adventure.

And this will be my first one going forward!

With one last look of the hologram, it vanished from sight, sinking back down into the middle of the table. I had temporarily taken off my helmet to view this hologram before me, so I reached for my helmet, which still rested on the side of the table near me. I faced it toward me, allowing me to look right into it.

"I can't let the past take over me. I'm Samus Aran now, ready to begin her next adventure!", I uttered to myself. Anticipation filled my eyes.

In one go, I placed the helmet back on, and I left my Personal Quarters. Adam also showed me how the latching chamber worked, which was pretty small compared to the other chambers. I waited on standby, waiting to disembark on this moon. All the while, Adam controlled the gunship, trying to find a good area to land.

Some time later.

On the moon's surface.

A sole gunship descended the atmosphere, quickly finding an open area to land. No matter where one looked, it was coral, coral and more coral. It had different shades of pink and red. But if one looked closely, a singular gigantic coral tree could be seen in the distance. This was the home to an indigenous species of the nearby star system, the Toydarians. They aren't exactly native to this moon, but they've claimed it as their own. For whatever reason, Rugosa was a popular vacation spot for these small, winged humanoids. This was the very same species who once held Anakin Skywalker a slave during the Phantom Menace. It was always a question as to why the Toydarians loved this place. It was quite arid, and had little places of interest.

The landing was smooth. Too smooth. I didn't see any wandering ships in the air, but once the latch opened allowing me to walk around on the moon's surface for the first time, it didn't take long for me to spot a crashed pod in the near distance. Seeing it already crashed like this, it was likely shot down.

"You getting all of this, Adam? Looks like someone wasn't as fortunate as we were.", I uttered softly, placing my right hand on my helmet. Adam was also connected with the suit. I am not sure if there's a range limiter on this, but he'll be able to keep me in check.

[I am. I am picking a few heat signatures. They're very similar to humans, like yourself. Still, proceed with caution. They may or may not be friendlies.] Adam said to me. [And by the way, I've upgraded your visor while it was charging. All of your translators you've acquired in your past adventures have been combined into one universal translator. It should pick up on all known frequencies and sound variations to determine the language being spoken. We will be charting through many unknown areas, so I prioritized this upgrade over other ones.] Adam continued, causing me to pause.

I've acquired a universal translator, just like that? A smile crept on my lips.

"Thanks a bunch, Adam. I'll continue to scout. Depending on the year we're currently in, it might not be the best time to encounter other humanoids. But we take what we can get. I'll update you on any progress I get.", I said, cutting my feed to Adam. He can gather live data through my visor, and all of this is going to be new to him. All sorts of environmental data will be reported back to him. Mineral composites. Fauna. New species. Whatever interest Adam has, he can document it in his archives. It may or may not serve a purpose one day, seeing as we're currently cut off from the Federation.

Still, if I recall, the language most folks use here is the Galactic Basic Standard? I know many aliens have their native tongue, but it should be pretty easy to be picked up by my visor. Guess I won't be taking my helmet off for the time being.

Yet not even a few moments passed before I heard some rustling nearby. A rather short-statured figure came into view, immediately causing me to enter a defensive position. Like this person was quite small. Only a couple feet high. They had green skin and pointy ears. The figure was currently smiling, acting as if they had anticipated my arrival.

"Quite an unexpected arrival, we have on our hands, hmm?", The figure questioned, approaching from one of the nearby coral trees. My eyes just stared at this figure.

No doubt about it. This person was Yoda!
