Chapter 8 - TEAM WORK

CHAPTER EIGHT

(Written by Solomon Paul)

The sky above the scorched battlefield twisted with dark energy as Diane attempted to break through the city's barrier, leading her army of demons. But before she could advance, a familiar figure stood in her path—Amon.

They were outnumbered, but he didn't flinch.

Diane (smirking):

"Well, well, my dear Amon... we meet again. Tell me, how's Elizabeth? Oh wait, I'm sure she's long dead by now. Sacrificing herself like a fool—using that magic and still failing to finish the job."

Amon's fists clenched. His heart roared with fury.

Amon (growling):

"You're going to regret those words."

Without thinking, Amon drew his blade and charged, eyes burning red. But before he could reach her—

THWACK!

A sharp pain landed on his head as his instructor, Silver, chopped him from behind.

Amon (wincing):

"Ow! What the hell was that for?"

Silver (calmly):

"You don't rush in like a headless beast, especially not against someone like her. You're not strong enough yet. If you want to defeat her… grow stronger first."

Diane scowled. Her patience thinned.

Diane:

"Tch… enough of this. Kill them all. Leave no one breathing."

The demon horde surged forward, cloaked in a poisonous black mist.

Becky (a child):

"Mr. Silver, are we going to fight too?"

Silver (stretching):

"Hmm… looks like today is more of a field observation. But who knows? I kinda curious about this new type."

As the monsters closed in, Silver flicked his wrist. In an instant, they were all blown away—battered but not dead.

Silver (yawning):

"Seriously? These are your troops? I didn't even get to use magic. What a joke."

Diane's face flushed with humiliation. Being of low rank in the Demon Realm, she wasn't permitted to summon elite monsters.

Amon (in disbelief):

"These were stronger back then… there were way more. What's happening?"

Silver (mockingly):

"Maybe she was just scouting—never expected us to show up. Sucks to be her."

Diane (furious):

"How dare you mock the daughter of the Demon Lord!"

She activated Spatial Manipulation, summoning five monstrous goblins, each towering over the children.

Amon (alarmed):

"No... they're the same ones I fought before. This isn't good."

One goblin swung its massive blade toward them.

Amon:

"Everyone, get down!"

But it was too late—one of the kids, Sophie, was snatched and crushed in its grip. The other four goblins stormed toward the children.

Amon (shielding them):

"Stay behind me—now!"

Elioth (stepping forward):

"I'll fight too!"

Amon:

"No, you can't!"

Elioth:

"I've got experience."

Amon (confused):

"From what?"

Elioth (grinning):

"RPG games!"

Amon (thinking):

"Great. We've got a spoiled gamer kid here..."

Amon:

"This is reality—not a game."

Elioth:

"Then don't fight alone!"

Suddenly, WHAM!—a goblin sent both Amon and Elioth flying into a tree.

Sophie (screaming):

"It hurts… I can't take it anymore!"

Diane (laughing):

"How's that? Now choose—surrender, or watch her get crushed!"

Silver (smirking):

"Yawn… getting cocky, are we?"

With a flick of his hand, Silver annihilated the goblin holding Sophie and instantly vaporized two others behind Diane for assistance.

Silver (kneeling beside Sophie):

"Does it hurt?"

Sophie (whimpering):

"A little…"

He healed her wounds with a glow of magic.

Silver:

"Go help the others. Then stay clear, alright?"

Sophie rushed off and found Amon still fighting, his body regenerating every time he was injured—but the pain remained. He was holding off the remaining two goblins alone. Elioth lay unconscious nearby.

Sophie:

"Guys! We have to help!"

Becky:

"We can't! We're no match!"

Sophie:

"Together, we can! We're his seniors—we can't just stand here!"

Sharlotte:

"She's right. This was supposed to be training, after all."

Elaine:

"Let's do this!"

Everyone:

"Yeah!"

Amon severed one goblin's arm but was slammed against a tree and grabbed by the throat. Elaine summoned magic chains, restraining the goblin, and Sophie froze it. Amon used the moment to slice off its other arm and decapitate it.

He turned to the group, panting. But just as they relaxed—SNAP!

The last goblin shattered the ice, leapt, and bit Amon's head clean off, sending his body flying. Blood dripped from its fangs as it marched toward the terrified children.

The children (screaming):

"Instructor! Help!"

Just then, Elioth stirred, rose to his feet, and—with a mighty yell—hurled a giant sharpened log straight into the goblin's skull. CRACK! The monster fell, dead.

Amon's body regenerated as he walked back over.

Children:

"Your head… it's back?! How!?"

Amon (grinning):

"I can't die. I'm immortal."

Elaine (pouting):

"No fair!"

Amon:

"Hehe. By the way… who finished it?"

Ares:

"Elioth did."

Amon (shocked):

"Ehhhhh?!"

Elioth (smirking):

"Told you I could. They say I was born too weak to move—but my parents prayed to Lord Hercules, and he blessed me with divine strength. I was sent here at age 7."

Amon (thinking):

"So this brat really had it in him..."

Elioth:

"What?"

Amon (smiling):

"Nothing. I'm glad."

Meanwhile…

Silver stood silently, observing.

Silver (grinning):

"Well, well… they actually pulled it off. Then again, they were trained by me."

He took a deep breath. His aura erupted, shaking the very earth beneath them.

Diane (staggering, whispering):

"Tch… How can a human possess such power…?"

Silver (calmly):

"Ready when you are."
