Chapter 65 - Chapter 65 – Fang Yi’s Progress

What? You still can't find the Roger Pirates?

At Marine Headquarters in Marineford, Vice Admiral Garp was growing frustrated. While he occasionally went out on missions, he had been closely awaiting any updates regarding Roger.

"Yes, sir! According to our latest intel, the last confirmed sighting of the Roger Pirates was near the entrance of the Grand Line, around Reverse Mountain. After that… they disappeared completely," the reporting officer said after saluting.

"Reverse Mountain? What were they doing there? Have you checked with the local bases in the Four Seas? Maybe they veered off somewhere?" Garp rubbed his chin in thought.

"We've already asked. The regional branches sent scouts, but none found any trace of Roger's crew," the officer replied, slightly embarrassed.

"Hmph. Has this report been sent to Vice Admiral Tsuru? What does she think?" Garp pressed.

"Uh… I haven't received anything back on that yet," the officer said.

"Alright. Go find Tsuru and hand her this intel. Ask for her opinion directly!" Garp ordered.

"Yes, sir!" The officer saluted and left.

"Huh… Strange. What the hell is Roger doing near Reverse Mountain?" Garp muttered, scratching the back of his head.

He didn't know that the Roger Pirates had already returned to the New World and were now hunting for the remaining three Road Poneglyphs, while also searching for the Whitebeard Pirates.

"Yo~ Buggy, not bad! Your power can split you apart like that?"

Fang Yi laughed as he watched Buggy dodge one of his arrows with his new Devil Fruit ability.

At this point, Fang Yi's skill "Precision" had reached Level 5 (MAX). That meant every two arrows had a 50% chance of guaranteed hit—an incredibly overpowered skill.

Unfortunately, Precision couldn't stack with his elemental arrows. If an arrow missed but the Precision skill was activated, it would only register as a hit—the elemental effects like ice or fire wouldn't apply unless it struck the target.

Fang Yi also discovered another limitation: even Precision couldn't fully bypass Devil Fruit defenses.

Take Buggy's Chop-Chop Fruit, for example. Even with Precision, the damage from Fang Yi's arrows was still minimal because the Fruit's power naturally reduced physical attacks. The system accounted for such mechanics.

Fang Yi had sensed something similar back during the battle in God Valley. Against Big Mom or Kaido, if his arrow didn't carry an additional effect and only Precision was activated, it barely caused harm, just mild pain at best. Their monstrous physiques gave them enormous natural resistance.

It was the same issue he faced with Barrett—he simply couldn't beat him.

But with his strength steadily improving, even normal arrows were growing more powerful. If he layered Armament Haki on them, they could even hurt tough Devil Fruit users.

"Wahahaha! Pretty good, right? Oh—and I can fly now too!" Buggy bragged, clearly thrilled with his new power. He'd already forgotten how miserable he was after accidentally eating the Devil Fruit.

At that moment, Buggy had left only his feet on the deck while the rest of his body flew above.

Fang Yi grinned and decided to teach him a lesson.

"Yaaah! You sneaky bastard! Let go of my feet!"

Buggy shouted down at Fang Yi, who had just stepped on his feet, preventing him from flying away.

"Puhahaha! Buggy, you clown—you're just comedy gold!"

"How can someone be this dumb? You're showing your weak point to the enemy! That's hilarious!"

Even before Fang Yi could comment, the rest of the crew burst into laughter.

Honestly, Buggy's move had tactical merit—if he kept his feet hidden, he could use flight to his advantage in battle. But doing this on a ship, where your feet are exposed? That was just asking to get stomped.

"Buggy, if you master your Fruit's powers, you might become a major force on the seas someday," Fang Yi chuckled as he released Buggy's feet.

"Hmph! I don't need you to tell me that! This great captain will rule the seas one day!" Buggy huffed proudly.

Gaining powers seemed to have opened a whole new world for him. He even joined Fang Yi, Barrett, and Shanks in training… for a few days. Eventually, he gave up, grumbling about how exhausting it was.

After the day's training ended, Fang Yi returned to his room and opened his character status panel:

Compared to earlier, Fang Yi hadn't gained many new skills, but his skill levels had improved significantly. Notably, Precision was now MAXED, making it his first fully mastered skill.

Some skills, like Divine Protection, Stun, and Lethal, were hard to activate during combat and could only be leveled through Skill EXP scrolls.

In contrast, active skills like Fire Arrow, Ice Arrow, Binding Arrow, and Flame Dragon Explosion were easier to grind since he could use them repeatedly in practice.

Interestingly, his Music skill had upgraded from Beginner to Intermediate—not from training, but from a random skill draw he purchased in the upgraded system store for 5,000 points.

When he got a life skill instead of a combat one, Fang Yi almost chopped his hand off in frustration.

It was his only chance at drawing a random skill post-upgrade, and it had cost him dearly—he had even skipped buying Strength and Agility Inheritances for it.

Ever since then, his luck had plummeted. Even daily lottery draws—despite having seven tickets per day from Roger, Rayleigh, Jaba, Shanks, Buggy, Barrett, and Crocus—had turned up nothing useful. Not even a single skill EXP scroll.

It was like the wheel of fortune had turned its back on him.
