Once she was quite alone, she took out a butcher knife and then started cutting the meat into small chunks. But not small enough for Ruan Zeqiu to realise that there was something amiss.
She maintained a non-uniform shape of the pieces of meat.
After that, she went inside the supermarket and washed the meat clean before sprinkling it with the anti-parasitic pills. She knew that if she stuffed the pills inside the meat, Ruan Zeqiu would notice them. Smearing was a much better idea.
After she was done, Ruan Chanchan exited the supermarket and then pulled the rest of the meat to a corner and placed it there.
When Ruan Zeqiu returned to the cave, he was surprised to see the chunks of meat in the bowl. However, a second later, he smiled at Ruan Chanchan and said to her, "Sister, did you tear the meat for me?"
Ruan Chanchan nodded in response while silently waiting for the mer to sit down and eat. She wanted to see if the mer would notice something amiss; if he did, then she would be more careful in the future.
"Thank you, sister," said Ruan Zeqiu, who was used to Ruan Chanchan staying silent. He didn't say anything else and simply sat down before taking a bite of the meat. Just as he took a bite, Xiao Xi glowed brightly, and a notification flashed in front of Ruan Chanchan's eyes.
