Just before anyone could understand what was going on, a woman who was supporting Ah Man cried out loud. The entire crowd turned around and looked at the woman whose face had turned quite pale.
"What happened?" Xie Daiyu marched over to where Ah Man had collapsed. His brows furrowed as he looked down at the woman whose face was turning paler with each passing second.
"I don't know," the woman holding Ah Man gasped. She looked down at Ah Man, whose skin had started to slowly turn green and then said to Xie Daiyu, "I saw her getting injured earlier and helped her up. I never expected her to fall like this." She then turned to look at Ah Man before asking her, "What's the matter with you, Ah Man? How come you collapsed due to such a small injury?"
Everyone turned to look at the small cut on Ah Man's cheek and couldn't help but frown.
Shao Xia, on the other hand, curled her lips and scoffed, "Weak."
Xie Daiyu whipped his head and glared at the woman. Even though he had been disappointed to the max by Shao Xia, his disappointment reached a whole new low when he heard the rude comment made by Shao Xia. He glared at her and said to her, "One more word from you and I will haul you and your family out of the tribe, Shao Xia! We don't need a tribe member who would mock her tribe members when they are down."
When Shao Xia heard Xie Daiyu's threats, she wanted to tell him that she was willing to leave on her own, but then she thought about how she was still weak and couldn't leave the tribe for now. Anyway, this tribe was going to get destroyed in a matter of a few months.
That's right, as a reborn woman, Shao Xia knew what was going to happen in a few years. Thus, she was not bothered by Xie Daiyu's temper; sooner or later, this mer would come begging in front of him to save his life.
As for Ah Man? This woman was destined to die. She died in her past life as well, so what was the point of shedding tears for a woman who was destined to die? Shao Xia let out another snort and then turned around to walk away. She was not going to waste her time with Ah Man and her injuries.
That woman was poisoned by the Mist Spider, and everyone knew that there was no cure for the poison of the Mist Spider. It was better to hunt down a theropod and arrange her meals than worry about Ah Man, whose death was as certain as her turning into the Guardian of the Beast Goddess.
Xie Daiyu watched Shao Xia leave, and his temper rose to the point where he started to shake. Honestly! This woman, how could she just ignore Ah Man and leave without even bothering to care about her? She was too much.
"Daiyu, we don't have time to worry about Shao Xia," Xie Suicheng spoke up when he saw his brother staring at Shao Xia. He knew Xie Daiyu's temper too well and knew that the mer was thinking about running after Shao Xia and hunting her down. However, with the current situation, they didn't have the time to deal with someone like Shao Xia. If she didn't want to care about Ah Man, they couldn't force her to show sympathy to the poor woman.
After all, empathy was something that people evoked from within. Shao Xia was selfish enough to even turn a blind eye to the mer she promised to mate with and share her future with; how could they expect anything from her?
Xie Daiyu let out a growl before turning to look at Ah Man, whose consciousness was flitting in and out. He leaned down and sniffed the woman carefully. His eyes flickered with unease when he recalled the smell that was lingering on Ah Man's skin. "This is bad… I can smell the scent of Mist Spider on her."
"Mist Spider!?"
The crowd gasped and worriedly looked at the woman on the ground. They all knew that even though Mist Spider was a really small spider, its bite was really vicious. With just one sting, it could kill a beast woman in a matter of a few hours.
"What will we do now?" Kong Wenhui clutched her head and looked down at Ah Man, who was about to die. "There is no cure for Mist spider bites. Does that mean—"
"We are not sure yet," said Xie Suicheng as he interrupted the discussion. "We need to make sure that Ah Man is really bitten by that Mist Spider or not. Maybe where Ah Man was crouching, there was a Mist Spider nest. Who knows? She might not even be bitten by that thing and just fainted due to exhaustion. She has been going on hunts for days."
Though no one spoke up, neither of them believed the words that Xie Suicheng said to them. How could they? Even if Ah Man was exhausted, there was no way she would faint. This must be due to the poison in her body. But as Ah Man was a rather important member of their tribe, they didn't want her to die either. After all, she was a powerful warrior; if she died, then the loss suffered by their tribe wouldn't be simple.
But if she were truly bitten by the Mist spider, they wouldn't be able to do anything.
Realizing that he didn't have a lot of time, Xie Daiyu picked Ah Man up in his arms and then returned to the tribe in a hurry. Just in case this was a simple matter of injury and exhaustion, then it could be solved by Priestess Yuan.
Seeing that Xie Daiyu was rushing back to the tribe, the rest of the team also followed him, hoping that Ah Man was not bitten by the Mist spider, but—
