The kitchen was surprisingly quiet.
Aegis sat at the table with a cup of tea, across from Sophie, Serilla, and Lune. The other half of the house was empty. Talia, Scarlett, Kanna, Liora, and, for reasons Aegis still couldn't fully process, Aaron, were all out jogging.
"Scarlett's idea," Sophie said between bites of toast. "She knocked on everyone's door at dawn and said something about 'keeping sharp.' Dad just put on his boots and went."
[Good on you, dad!]
Serilla was on her second cup of tea, watching the window like she was personally offended by how early it was.
"And you didn't go?" Aegis asked her.
"I don't jog."
"Ever?"
"If I'm running, someone is either chasing me or I'm chasing them, and in both cases it's not exercise."
Sophie finished her toast, brushed the crumbs off her hands, and slammed both palms on the table.
"Today," Sophie announced, "is Sophie Day!"
"..." There was a collective beat of silence.
"What's Sophie Day?" Aegis asked.
