Gold Roger: "My treasure? Why, it's right where I left it. It's yours if you can find it. But you have to search the whole world."
After hearing Gold Roger's speech, the crowd shouted like the whole world was about to sink into the sea.

While the others were talking to him, he gripped the kitchen knife with both hands and poked it into his left cheek—just above the chin and below the eye.

After Luffy poked the left side of his face, the ??? Pirates took him to the bar owner, Makino—a young adult woman with dark green, silky hair—to patch his wound. After patching Luffy's wound, the ??? Pirates made a toast for Luffy's bravery.

"A toast… to Luffy's… courage and to our great voyage."

"Drink. Drink. Drink! Drink like it's your final day on earth! Hahaha!"
??? 6:
"Booze! More booze! Bring more! Hahaha!"
??? 7:
"Hey, that's my meat!"
??? 8:
"Not anymore! I'm gonna eat it!"
??? 9:
"Hey, stop fighting! You're gonna spoil our fun!"
While the others were enjoying the party, meanwhile…
Luffy:
"It didn't hurt at all!"
Man with straw hat and red hair:
"LIAR!!! That was a foolish thing to do!"
Luffy:
"I am not the least bit afraid of getting hurt! Take me with you on your next voyage!! I wanna be a pirate too!"

"Luffy, do you know why we call you 'anchor'? Because you can't swim—you just sink! What good is a pirate who can't swim?"

"But if I don't fall overboard, then it doesn't matter if I'm an 'anchor'!! And I'm a strong fighter! I've been training! My punch is as powerful as a pistol!"
Shanks:
"A pistol, eh? Is that so?"
Luffy (very angrily):
"Are you doubting me!?"

"Calm down, Luffy!"

"Let's just have a good time!"

"Yeah, pirates always have a good time!"

"The sea is vast and there's a lot of islands to explore!"

After hearing their speech, Luffy's face brightened like the sun with a wide smile. Shanks turned to his crewmates and…
Shanks:
"You guys… stop filling his head with crazy ideas."
Lucky Roux:
"But it's true! Right?"

"C'mon, Captain, let's take the lad with us just this once…"

Angry Luffy:

Shanks:
"You're just too young, kid. Maybe in ten years I'll give you a chance!"
Angry Luffy:
"Cap'n Shanks! I'm telling you… I am not a little kid!!"
In between the conversation, Shanks slid a cup of milk to Luffy and said…
Shanks:
"Don't get upset now. Here, have some milk."
Luffy:
"Oh boy! Thanks!"
While Luffy was drinking the milk, Shanks laughed like it was the best joke he had ever heard and said…
Shanks:
"See? A real pirate would never drink milk!!"
Angry Luffy:
"That was a dirty trick!!"
After Shanks made fun of Luffy, he got very angry and walked away with the glass of milk…
Luffy:
"Hmph! I'm getting tired of this. I even stabbed my face so you'd take me with you!"
As Luffy was talking to himself, a man sitting in a chair with a cigarette in his mouth lit it and spoke...
???:
"Luffy, Cap'n's just doing what's best for everyone."
Luffy:
"How do you figure, Mr. First Mate?"

Benn:
"The safety of the entire crew and ship rests on his shoulders. Being a pirate isn't all fun and games, you know… There's a lot of duty, like… pillaging, hostage-taking, heavy drinking… and swimming!"

Benn:
"And Captain knows all about the dangers of the sea, too! It can kill you in a thousand ways. It's not that he wants to crush your dream of becoming a pirate."
Luffy:
"Well, I don't believe it!! Shanks just likes to make me look dumb."
Shanks (mockingly):
"Hey, Anchor!!"
Luffy (angrily):
