"HP: Too Late, System!"Chapter 360: The Administrative Assistant Exam—and a Few Answers
Victoria's lips curled in a faint smirk as she replied, her tone cool and composed, "At least it's better than being a troublemaker for the school."
"Ha! That's the spirit—classic Slytherin," Sirius said, clapping his hands with a laugh.
"All right, down to business. What does the Administrative Office actually do?
Put simply, we're the department that keeps Hogwarts running smoothly: class schedules, student management, event planning, faculty coordination, external relations... and, of course, handling every kind of unexpected situation."
With Slytherin setting the tone, Gryffindor wasn't about to be outdone. Jack piped up at once,
"What about students dueling in the corridors?"
"That's the Prefects' job."
Emily raised her hand anxiously, "What if professors get into a fight?"
"That's for the Headmaster to handle."
Augustine ventured, "Organizing Quidditch matches?"
"That's Madam Hooch's responsibility."
Victoria folded her arms, tilting her head, "Then what are we supposed to do, exactly?"
Sirius snapped his fingers. Four cups of tea appeared on the table. Another snap—four chairs slid into place behind them.
"Have a seat, make yourselves comfortable. Our job is to do all the things nobody else wants to do—but that someone absolutely has to."
The four assistants fell silent.
"I'm joking!" Sirius grinned, taking a leisurely sip of tea he'd "borrowed" from Douglas's office.
"In truth, the Administrative Office is the hub that connects every department at Hogwarts. We help wherever we're needed, fill in the gaps, and solve the problems that fall through the cracks.
And as for all those jobs you just listed—prefect duties, headmaster headaches, even Madam Hooch's tasks—well, occasionally, they land on our desks, too."
He pulled four sheets of parchment from a drawer and handed one to each of them.
"Here's your first assignment: a personal skills assessment. Complete these questions so I can get a sense of your strengths."

II. Short Answer
Briefly outline the main attendance policies and procedures for student management at Hogwarts.
If a student experiences a medical emergency in class, how should an Administrative Assistant coordinate the response?
As an Administrative Assistant, what must you coordinate when organizing major school events (like the House Cup)?
The four of them groaned, but set to work answering the questions.
Sirius pulled out a stack of files and started sorting through paperwork.
Half an hour later, the completed assessments were handed in.
Sirius scanned the answers and nodded.
"Excellent. Now I have a better sense of each of you. Time for some hands-on work."
He gestured at the enormous Hogwarts Marauder's Map (student edition) behind him.
"Ahem. You've noticed this, right? It lets us see where every student is at any time, which makes things much easier than in the old days. Plus, we've got the castle's house-elves on standby.
One thing to keep an eye on: always check where Mr. Filch is. You'll notice he has an uncanny knack for catching mischief-makers in the act."
"But that's not today's focus. Today, you each have a task—one per person."
Sirius tapped the map with his wand; the kitchen glowed, showing several student dots—clearly someone was after an early snack.
"Jack, coordinate with the house-elves to finalize the menu for tomorrow's end-of-term feast, and update the kitchen rules."
Jack thumped his chest. "You got it!"
The wand moved to the library.
"Emily, Madam Pince says students have been sneaking food into the library. I need you to design a spell or magical device to detect contraband at the entrance. Talk with Madam Pince for details—she should be free now that exams are over."
Emily pushed up her glasses. "Sounds like a fun challenge."
The wand shifted to the greenhouses.
"Augustine, I need you to organize this term's student performance records, then include them with grade reports or next term's prep letters to send to parents…"
All four gasped. Thank Merlin they'd graduated early—imagine having your school reports sent home!
Augustine managed a wry smile. This job was sure to make him unpopular.
PS: Answer Key
B. Normal walking pace—no running allowed Hogwarts rules explicitly forbid running in the corridors.
D. Check for abnormalities in the classroom Safety comes first; assistants should check for dangerous items or magical residue before addressing the student.
C. Arriving on time for electives in the assigned classroom A is a Potions violation (could cause explosions), B is misuse of magic for pranks, D is breaking dorm curfew. Only C is proper behavior.
B. Find out the reason for lateness, then act accordingly Hogwarts emphasizes guidance over punishment.
B. Warn once; if repeated, ask them to leave Stands management follows a "warn-then-remove" procedure.
A. Rush to the scene and break it up Physical conflict is urgent—intervene immediately, then refer to the Head of House.
B. Focus on education, with punishment as a last resort The Hogwarts philosophy is transformation, not mere punishment.
C. Student repeatedly breaks rules and it's serious Maintain privacy, but keep parents informed of serious, ongoing issues.
B. Gather feedback from teachers and student reps, then submit to the Headmaster for approval Major changes require discussion and Headmaster's sign-off.
B. Investigate the facts and then mediate Investigate (using, for example, Memory Recollection Charms), then mediate; direct punishment or Ministry involvement are not standard unless it's a criminal matter.
