Eutostea, the third princess of Thebes, is visited by the mysterious guest calling himself the God Apollo in bed. In pitch-black darkness, only an outline of him said, “I have come to share a one-night love with you. Once the night passes, you will not remember me, nor shall we meet ever again.” Soon, the three princesses band together to reveal his face while he is sleeping. But the candlewax melts off the tip of the candle in Eutostea’s hand and falls on the god’s shoulder. Apollo wakes, grabs the second princess, declaring, “Princess of Thebes, admire to your heart’s content. ‘Tis the face of the mere shell you sought so dearly.”

She didn’t reveal her true identity by bragging like, ‘Well, this is who I am.’ Since Eutostea talked very calmly, there was a moment of silence among the soldiers. Although they were named the Sacred Band of Thebes, which made them sound grand, these troops were established not so long ago and were recruited differently, and even their training took place in the border area, far away from the palace, so they only had a little information about the royals.


However, they heard a lot about King Aphelius’ beautiful two princesses, and therefore, knew who they were. And they also were aware that those princesses became prisoners of war and were held captives when the enemies took the palace. Thus, no matter how hard they tried to be all eyes, the priestess in front of them would hardly be the princess of Thebes, wouldn’t she?
