MAEVE'S POV
Devon's words had done the trick, and now I was officially a stalker.
I was hitting almost every wall in private rooms, hoping to find the right spot to uncover a secret passage.
I wondered if Ivan could tell that I had been hot on his trail for the last couple of days—tracking his every move, waiting for him to finally vacate his study.
It was nearly impossible, made even more impossible because that damn Beta just wouldn't leave his side.
Seriously, how much work did he have to do that kept him locked away for hours on end? He wasn't even Alpha yet.
Of course, Ivan didn't have a clue that I had been keeping a close eye on him.
I tried to keep my spying looking purely coincidental—checking in when he came in for lunch, walking down his study's hallway to briefly spot if his personal guard was lurking outside that door, which often meant he was present.
And of course, I was avoiding Francis like my life depended on it—because it just might.
