Chapter 46 - Village Hall

A large, wooden building complex stands majestically in the center of Adam Village.

The complex consists of three sections. The first is the office for the village head and his staff.

On the other side, a large warehouse is located behind the village head's office, used to store various equipment and valuables.

In front of the village head's office, there is a large, wallless hall that serves as the village hall.

The village hall can accommodate hundreds of villagers and is used for various village government purposes.

The village hall is also used for community gatherings, including wedding ceremonies for Adam villagers.

Jay, who arrived with his family in a simple, beautifully decorated horse-drawn carriage, immediately became the center of attention, as many villagers gathered around the hall to watch the wedding procession.

Getting off the train, Jay was then led by his father to the village hall, where the village chief and several village officials were already awaiting Jay's arrival.

Of the many people there, a middle-aged man with a sturdy build and a stern demeanor caught Jay's attention.

The middle-aged man was smoking a rolled cigarette and smiling as he welcomed Jay and his father.

As for who this figure was, it was Uncle Logan, the village chief of Adam Village, where Jay and his family lived.

"You look amazing, Jay!" Logan praised, seeing Jay dressed in the William family's wedding attire.

"Thank you, Uncle," Jay replied with a smile.

"Paul, everything is ready. Now we just have to wait for the bride to arrive," he gestured to Paul.

"Great, thank you so much, Uncle Logan. You've been a great help to our family," Paul replied gratefully.

"This is what I should do, as the village chief, especially since Jay is a promising young man.

The livestock in the village are all very happy with the feed Jay has found, and it will really help us with our work during the harvest," Logan replied to Paul.

"Don't worry, Uncle. Jay will definitely continue to contribute well to the village," Jay replied, after being signaled by his father to speak.

"Look, the bride has arrived!" another voice rang out from the villagers as they heard the sound of another horse-drawn carriage approaching the village hall.

Shortly, voices of surprise and praise erupted from the villagers surrounding the village hall. This was due to Ameno's stunning appearance.

Jay, who also witnessed Ameno's arrival, had to say that in the special wedding attire provided by the William family, Ameno looked even more beautiful, as if she had a special aura about her that made her the center of attention.

Ameno wore a dress embroidered with gold and beautiful floral motifs, still wearing black, just like Jay.

Ameno, adorned with flower tattoos on her hands, looked stunningly beautiful. She also wore light makeup, along with several distinctive markings around her forehead.

A golden crown-like ornament rested atop her hair, which was styled into a bun.

With her slow steps and sweet smile, Ameno quickly became the center of attention of the entire village.

"Wow... Jay is so lucky, his wife is so beautiful..."

"Yes, look at her skin, so fair and smooth..."

"She seems to be the most beautiful girl in our village..."

Several villagers immediately complimented Ameno's appearance.

Shortly after, Ameno arrived right beside Jay, and now Jay could see Ameno more clearly, especially with the fresh scent of jasmine that seemed to be emanating from her.

This made Jay even more delighted and happy, (this is truly a blessing beyond imagination), Jay thought to himself.

"Okay, since you're all here, let's begin the wedding ceremony." Logan, the village chief, then spoke and led Jay's wedding ceremony.

"Before that, have you decided on a dowry for your second marriage?" Logan asked Jay and Ameno.

"It's been arranged by the village chief, and they both agree," replied Paul, Jay's father.

"I represent Ameno's family, and it has been agreed upon," replied Jay's grandfather, who was Ameno's spokesperson.

"Is that true?" The village chief then asked Ameno directly.

ng.

"Yes, village chief. I have agreed to the dowry given by Jay," Ameno replied, embarrassed, but she answered nonetheless.

"Will it be revealed publicly or confidentially?" The village chief asked again, as it was a tradition in their village for a couple to marry at the village hall.

They would be asked several important questions before making their vows, including the bride's dowry.

There were two options: the first was to reveal the dowry the groom had given the bride.

The second option was to leave the dowry undisclosed.

"It will be kept confidential, village chief," Ameno replied again. (The bride's decision to freely reveal or not reveal the dowry given by the groom is her right, regardless of the circumstances.)

"Good, then I'll ask again: did you marry with your own consent? Or was there coercion?" the village chief asked Jay and Ameno.

"We did it with the village chief's own consent," Jay replied.

"Yes, there's no pressure," Ameno replied again.

"Next, are you willing to marry as a man and woman, and live the life you choose without regret?" the village head asked again.

"Yes, we are," Jay and Ameno replied almost in unison.

"Then do you dare to swear before the Universe that what you are doing is something you can be held responsible for?" the village head asked again.

"We dare, we will accept all the consequences of our oath," Jay replied, followed by Ameno.

"Then, with the permission of the Universe and the order of the State that I hold, I hereby declare you husband and wife," the village head gave his blessing.

"Thank you, village head," Jay and Ameno replied happily.

"Okay, now you guys, please fill out this form and receive your own marriage certificate." The village head asked the two of them to write down the contents of the marriage agreement recognized by their country. Afterward, they were given two marriage certificates displaying their personal details and stating that they were husband and wife.

"You are now a husband and wife recognized by the state. Congratulations!" Jay and Ameno raised their hands, revealing a small green booklet, signifying their marriage.

"Thank you!" Jay and Ameno replied.

"Congratulations..."

"Congratulations on your new life!"

"Wow...congratulations on becoming husband and wife..."

Various congratulations were immediately showered on Jay and Ameno. Meanwhile, Jay's extended family was also delighted with the smooth wedding process.

The rest was to invite several important people in the village and William's extended family to a meal at their home to celebrate the wedding.

Another large celebration, which required inviting the entire village, would be held the following month, after the main harvest.
