Chapter 6 - Pathway

The confrontation between a Asterorion Theoklastes and Four Figures.

"We've come to heed your words regarding our decision. We reject your offer. We have no plan to give you Eldoria and Ignisara," the feminine voice declares.

"Embrace it, or we shall initiate a war," the cocky deep voice also adds, which makes Asterorion furious.

"You wish to start a war against me, Kakos?" Asterorion says with anger.

"You are nothing but a mere Orber Warrior to me. The spacetime will bend at our clash, but you shall be erased from existence if you dare to disobey, Starbuster," Kakos says with a proud and evil laugh. True. Since he was born, The Creator created Kakos as God of Cosmic Wars and evilness, but his loyalty to his Orber is unshakable by any means.

"Five years hence, Kakos. You shall rue these words!" Asterorion declares before retreating.

"Kakos," a voice intones, heavy with concern, "why have you committed such a reckless act?"

"That is not your concern, Aequees," Kakos proclaims. "This is my conflict, born of my loyalty to Orber I." With that, he fades from sight.

The Wyrmwood Company and its two reanimated legendary figures.

"What in the world is this?!" The Supervisor says in disbelief as he sees the creatures within the eggs. Some are hatching, letting out strange, groaning sounds from their vocal chords.

Some of them are already maturing. What? They just hatched and are already maturing?

"Prepare yourselves, Ferruccio and Orion," Kaji reminds them as he prepares his sword.

"Blow 'em up, Kaji?" Orion asks as he reloads his bubble-acid-bomb gun.

Then, one matured creature jumps toward Kaji with strange, whistle-like sounds, only to be cut in half by Kaji'sPetrification Slashes. Other matured creatures also try to attack the others but are quickly finished off by Orion and Ferruccio.

"We should probably finish them all at once, or else they'll reproduce more!" Ferruccio says as he prepares his cestus for a technique.

"Yeah, do it," Kaji agrees before backing up. After Kaji agrees, Orion coats Ferruccio's cestus with acid bubbles and backs off as well.

Ferruccio coats the bubbles again with fire before slamming his cestus on the ground, causing an earthquake only below the eggs. The bubbles then do their work, drifting into the cracks caused by the earthquake, then blowing themselves up.

The acid-infused explosion devours the ground and causes the floor to fall, which leads to the eggs cracking before they can even hatch.

"This will clear them," Ferruccio says as he stands back on his ground.

The dark laboratory of Microchip.

"WOAH! I can use Wood element now too?!" Chris exclaims, his voice full of surprise, as he makes a nearby withered test plant grow back to life.

"Yup. You could use five, right? Now you can use six," Microchip confirms proudly as he organizes his messy documents.

"But... are there limitations? You know I hate restrictions," Chris says as he tests his Wood element on nearby tools. He makes wooden arms, transforms the silicon skin on his own body into a wooden skin, and more.

"Only one thing. I tried to upgrade the Wood element, and it's still in its imperfect state, which means there might be some issues. Things like itchiness from blood and nosebleeds. But don't worry, it's not fatal," Microchip explains the drawbacks one by one while organizing his documents.

"Oh, and if you would, could you go to Point Mountain for me? To gather information about Majestic Yin. You can test out your new Wood element on the guardians there. Don't worry, they're harmless. Just prepare yourself mentally," Microchip says as he grabs an empty syringe with the letters "M.Y." etched on it and hands it to Chris.

"Alright. By the way, Wood and Fire together sounds like a good combo, right?" Chris asks as he opens his artificial stomach compartment to store the syringe at the appropriate temperature and environment.

"Yup. Fire and Wood is a classic combo, and it's overpowered. Your base elements are also buffed," Microchip adds.

"Alright, see ya!" Chris says before running out of the lab.

Five years after the incident of Rosejail. Saint Glorian Medical Academy.

"Welcome to class, Jaylee Callen!" The teacher greets Jaylee warmly while students look her way. Jaylee, who has a deadpan expression, just bows to the class and sits down in an empty seat.

The teacher just smiles at her—more of a reassuring smile—before opening the pathology book. "Class, Page No. 450," she begins.

The teacher teaches Introduction to Pathology, all about the mechanisms of disease. After the lesson, the teacher writes a question on the blackboard that says: "A patient presents with a severe anemia and a macrocytic red blood cell morphology. Further tests show an elevated level of methylmalonic acid (MMA) in their blood. What is the most likely cause of this condition?"

"Alright class, who can answ—" Before the teacher could finish her sentence or the students could even think, Jaylee raises her hand lazily and answers: "Vitamin B12 deficiency, due to the elevated methylmalonic acid. MMA is a specific marker for that deficiency because Vitamin B12 is a coenzyme for the conversion of MMA to succinyl-CoA."

"Woah... That was quick," the teacher says, surprised at her intelligence, before wiping the blackboard to teach a new lesson.

The students give Jayleestrange looks, some filled with awe. But a certain trio isn't fazed. In fact, their eyes are glinting with mischief, and it's clear they're plotting something.

Later that night.

"Yo, Jaylee. Open the door," a cocky voice comes from behind Jaylee's dorm door. Their motive is entirely sinister.

The trio is renowned at the academy for their bullying and for the reputation of their parents, who have ruined the lives of many girls. Many beautiful, smart, and well-mannered students have been ruined by them. Most of them, because of shameful memories, ended their own lives or went very far away. And their next target is Jaylee.

"Hey, we are asking nicely. Open. The. Door," another one demands in a rougher tone.

"Yeah, don't make us lose our cool," the last one adds before banging on the door.

After a moment, the door opens, but it's not who they expected... It's a man.

"This is my chamber..." the man says before grabbing two of them by the heads and slamming them against each other.

"O-Hey! How dare you—" Before the last boy could do anything, the man kicks him in the stomach brutally before punching his face and chest with fists coated in Stone element. The attack leaves the kid with multiple nosebleeds, cuts, and a mostly broken skull.

"Never return again..." the man says before disappearing mid-air. He seems to be an illusion, or a spirit, but how did he beat them to within an inch of their lives?

"Thank you for your purchase!" a cashier woman says to Jaylee, who has just bought some soda and snacks.

She walks back to her dormitory, to her room. But she is caught by surprise.

The trio were heavily beaten up, with blood everywhere. All of them have passed out. Jayleescoffs before taking out her phone, taking a picture, and calling the dormitory security guards.

"Three bastards passed out in a pool of blood outside my room," she reports before calmly walking into her dorm. How can she be nonchalant about this?

Inside the cave of Point Mountain.

"Pillars of Hell!" A voice echoes through the cave, followed by sounds of ice melting, wooden pillars raising, fire crackling, and the deathbed screams of the Point Guardians.

"At this rate, I might even enjoy killing them," Chris says through his built-in comms to Microchip.

"Calm down, they are just doing their jobs," Microchip replies.

"Anyway, I'm almost at the "Core." I can hear people's chatter, who are they?" Chris asks as he activates his ultrasonic hearing aid.

"The newspaper says the Gangster Presidents want the national treasure of Point Mountain. Be careful not to interfere with them," Microchip warns Chris, knowing his curiosity will lead him into bigger problems. Their childhood is a perfect example.

"Alright, I'll call you back later." Chris grins; he's definitely not going to pass up the chance to find the Core faster.

After he examines the geography of the mountain, he finds the closest way to the chatter, which leads to his right, into another cave. He walks to that side and places his hand on the ice, then burns it with a long-ranged fire beam attack.

"What is that sound?" Ferruccio says as he frowns and looks to their left side. The beam goes so long that even the smallest amount of heat is obvious.

"Stand on your ground, Ferruccio," Kaji warns him as they all back away a little. Orion raises his guns, and Kaji unsheathes his katana.

"Wood Golem Inferno Smash!" Chris punches the last layer of ice before jumping high to smash the ground, with a Wooden Clone of his using the same technique at the same intensity.

The Wooden ClonetargetsFerruccio, and the original ChristargetsKaji.

"Heavenly Slash!" Kaji coats his katana with Stone element and swings it to strike back at Chris.

"Fist of Hercules!" Ferruccio also replies to the attack by charging his left fist at the clone's attack.

"Woah, Kaji! Remember me?" Chris grins wider. Their attacks don't even touch each other, just clashing mid-air.

Surprised by this man's acknowledgement of his name, Kaji frowns. "Who the hell are you?" he asks as they both infuse more strength into their clash, which makes a small, quick explosion occur between them, knocking them back.

"It's Crydan, Kaji!" Orion says as he blasts the Wooden Clone of Chris with acid bubbles, and helps Ferruccio finish it off.

"Crydan? Damn, I wouldn't have attacked you if I knew it was you!" Kaji says with a laugh and sheathes his katana.

"Same here, but how are you still alive? I remember seeing the news that you were assassinated," Chris asks as he glances at the Supervisor and his crew, who are trembling with fear.

"Dead Rebringer Technique, by Ferruccio," Kaji says as he gestures to Ferruccio, who's watching the conversation.

"Ohh, pretty useful in good hands," Chris compliments before turning to the crew.

"Don't be scared, I'm an ally." He laughs, but even the Supervisor is still not buying it and raises his sword with shaking hands. After all, they've just seen a match up between their strongest allies and him.

"Are you after the national treasure, too, Crydan? And why are you in another body?" Kaji asks, confusion plain on his face.

"Well, it's an experiment. Anyway, you're all searching for the national treasure, too? I just need some of the leakingMajestic Yin energy for an experiment," Chris says as he scans the nearby area.

"Wait, you know us?" Ferruccio asks with similar confusion.

"Ferruccio Di Cenere, son of Joboro Di Cenere," Chris says simply.

"Your father and I were good friends back in the day, before he was assassinated. I'm the one who cured your heart disease," Chris explains, showcasing a hologram of the heart surgery he performed on Ferruccio, all from his memory.

"Enough of the reunion. We should focus on finding the treasure, as well as the Majestic Yin energy for Crydan," Kaji says before unsheathing his sword.

"Yeah, I want to do that experiment really badly," Chris agrees as he turns toward a specific direction of the cave.

"Prepare, Kaji. Use a Heat Type element, preferably," Chris says before imbuing his fists with Fire to use his signature technique.

"Yeah, I can use my Magma element," Kaji says before coating his sword with Magma to prepare a slashing attack.

Both of them clash their weapons—a sword and a fist—together. Then, they both swing their weapons, releasing a flame-coated shockwave at the fixed direction, while screaming...

"Strike of Underworld God!"

The shockwave attacks the surface, the Fire fueling the Magma's intensity. The surface is completely destroyed, leaving a massive crater behind.

"Are we going to die?!" The crew cries out from the back, and even the Supervisor is sweating more than before.

"Ferru, you brought cowards on this mission?" Orionmocks as he turns to the crew and scolds them.

"Sorry, Senior. My company has never been in a life-or-death situation like this," Ferruccio says while rubbing the back of his neck.

"Teach them about the danger of the situation and about not panicking," Orion says before preparing to enter the ice tunnel made by Chris and Kaji to get to the Core."
