Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

THALIA'S P.O.V

I stumble into my apartment feeling drowsy from the pain I felt. Sophia had gotten me good but I got her better. She wouldn't be able to walk well enough or use her hands properly for the next few weeks, I had broken a bone or two of hers I presumed. Actually I had gotten more than that, but I also had a few broken ribs. A part of me couldn't watch her slaughter an innocent child, werewolf or not. A part which my father called weak, a part of me which I had inherited from my mother. I liked to think of it as compassion and human sympathy, not weakness.

I manage to clean up my wounds with the mini first aid kit which I always carried around with me in case of an emergency. I knew that I was no longer safe here, I needed to move quickly. If Sophia had found me then it surely meant that the werewolves had found me. I wouldn't put it past the bitch to rat me out to the werewolves. I knew she had connections to one or two werewolves but my father would never believe me.

I had just carried my bag to the sitting room when I hear a sharp knock at my door which causes me to tense up. Tucking my gun behind me and arming myself with my knife, I stealthily open the door, coming face to face with the building's owner, a middle aged woman who looked suspicious as fuck but she was human, werewolves had a particular scent to them as well as this look in their eyes not to mention the air of arrogance which they always carried around for being a supernatural being.

"Can I help you?" I watch as her eyes dart to the bag sitting in the living room, almost immediately I block her view as I cock my head to the side with a hard look, urging her to mind her fucking business and say what the fuck she had to say.

"I said, can I help you?" I repeat a bit more firmly to which she lets out a tight-lipped smile.

"Uh no, I was just doing a routine check. And besides I heard a noise so I thought to check." Lie, she was bloody lying through her teeth. Well maybe not the part about doing a routine check, but she was certainly lying about having heard a noise. There was no noise which further confirmed my suspicious that there was something not right about her.

"Everthying's fine, I'm just tidying up and if you'd excuse me I have to get back to what I was doing." Without giving her a moment to peak, I shut the door in her face. There was now way it was safe walking out the front door so I had to get out through the window. Glancing around to make sure that I hadn't forgotten anything, I pick up my backpack and then head out through the window. Getting on my bike, I hit the road.

Surprisingly, my bike happened to stop in the middle of the road due to a loose knot which I had to re-screw and it just so happened to be in the middle of nowhere surrounded by bushes. I had just finished fixing the bolt when I heard an all to familiar rattling sound of leaves in the nearby bush. Stealthily, I fish out the pocket knife in my boots as I slowly rise to my feet.

A minute or two later a group of werewolves emerge from the bushes. They looked dirty and unkempt and I knew instantly that they were rogues, they had this particular awful-stench surrounding them not to mention that they looked scrawny and had this deranged almost animal-like look in their eyes.

Edging closer to my bike, I take a look around as I take on a defensive stance with the knife before me. "Look I don't want any trouble, so just let me be on my way." I knew they wouldn't listen and that was exactly what I wanted. I wanted them to feel like they had the upper hand not knowing what they were dealing with.

And just then the wolves attacked, they were gonna be easy to tackle as they obviously weren't skilled fighters. A grey wolf lunged at me from my left but I had seen it coming so I was able to dodge the attack, swiping it off it's feet as I kicked its belly and then plunging my knife into its hind legs causing it to let out a howl of pain. Two wolves lunged at me at the same time but I was able to swerve out of the way just in time causing them to collide. Without wasting another moment I reach for the dark brown wolf wasting no time in slitting open its throat just as I feel the light brown wolf swipe at the back of my leg. Not expecting the attack, I let out a pained yelp as I struggle to maintain my stance.

"Son of a bitch." I grunt, casting a stare towards the direction of my attacker. The fight between the dark brown wolf and I was much tougher as it was stronger than the others and a bit more skilled, but not enough to take me on. The other grey wolf which I had previously tackled knocked the air out of me as it jumped me from behind. Not wasting another moment, I plunge the knife into its eye and as it let out a howl of pain, I slit its throat. Left with just one wolf standing, I eye its movement readying myself for its attack.

The wolf bared its teeth at me, already angry at the death of his companions which made him charge at me in rage. I head straight for the guts, swiping my blade across its stomach as it let out a pained howl. Not wanting to kill it without getting any information, I plunge my knife into both legs weakening it.

"Change." I order in a bored tone, soon enough a bald-headed middle aged man laid before me staring at me in anger and disgust but I could also see the pain he struggled to contain.

"Who sent you?"

"I won't tell you shit you fucking bitch, you're just gonna kill me anyways so do it." He snarls.

Sighing, I spin the blade in-between my fingers, "Yeah well there's that, but I could either make it swift and painless or I could drag it out so painfully that you wouldn't even be able to plead for death. Your choice." He seemed conflicted for a moment before finally speaking.

"It's Alpha Keith. Apparently word about you being a threat to the werewolves reached him and he wanted to be rid of you to earn more respect knowing who you are." Alpha Keith....I had heard of him, he was a bully and a shit-ass alpha. Well at least I could have a valuable excuse as to why I could kill him not that I needed one anyways.

Giving the werewolf a tight-lipped smile, i edge closer to him as his eyes widen in fear and what must have been realization, "Thank you darling." In a flash, his throat was slashed open and I watched in satisfaction as the life drained from his eyes.
