It had to be the happiest Lana had been to meet up with Nicholas.
Her intention was to whip out her phone and send him a text requesting a meeting. But before she could, his message flashed on her screen, their thoughts apparently in sync.
Even before heading to school, she drove straight to the café they were to meet up, frantically rushing out of the car as she pulled over. She was anxious to see him. anxious to talk to him. Anxious to talk about how her encounter with Thomas Frane the previous day went.
Prior to the previous day, she could count the amount of times she had seen her father-in-law. Nothing more than three times at family arranged meetings and a couple more on TV screens and less often on billboards. Their meetings were never private so she never really got a good grasp of the kind of person he was or what to expect. At least, that was before yesterday.
