Chapter Thirty-Eight
Yuta's unsure footsteps reached the glowing doorway, and he could hear his own heartbeat thundering in his ears as he peered into the secret chamber.
Darkness.
The faint blue light had completely vanished, replaced by this oppressive feeling that made Yuta's legs harden like lead.
The screaming had stopped. He blinked at the complete dark foggy void in front of him.
What was this place?
A whisper.
It was so faint that Yuta almost missed it, but once he heard it, he couldn't unhear it.
He was still standing on the doorway when the whisper came again, closer now, and Yuta could almost make out actual words.
Almost, but not quite.
It was like trying to remember a dream that slipped away the moment he focused on it, but the parasite still clawed, attempting to burrow its way into Yuta's skull. The air thickened with its desperation.
