Chapter 7 - Chapter 007

It felt like forever, Kiara had been staring at her phone, waiting for his call. If he wasn't going to do anything, she was ready to find her lawyer and divorce him.

A few minutes had passed when an incoming call appeared. Reaching for it, she saw her doctor friend's name on the screen. A small smile flashed across her face as she pressed the answer button.

"Hey! Are you good?" Kiara asked, taking a seat on the bed, feeling a little tense, worried that her friend might ask about the night with her husband.

The recipient didn't respond immediately. Instead, there was a moment of silence.

Kiara squinted, wondering if the network had gone bad for a second.

"Can you hear me?"

"I can hear you, Kiara! What is going on with you? I thought you left the hospital just yesterday to spend some time with your husband?"

Kiara was confused. The only explanation she could think of was that her husband had been spoiling her name.

"I don't get you. Yes, I did. But things didn't turn out the way I expected. I was already broken when I left the hospital."

"You were broken? Have you seen the news? You cheated, and as if that weren't enough, now you're asking for a divorce?"

Her mouth fell open. She couldn't believe it had gotten to the news. Her husband was well known, and most people knew she was his wife, especially those she was connected to through him.

So this was his plan. This was why he had refused to send the divorce papers. Now, everything was being twisted against her.

"You're speechless? That just shows you did it." The doctor didn't know what or whom to believe.

She gulped. "Whatever you want to believe, I won't stop you. But just know I didn't do anything. He's the cheat, he slept with the maid, and yet he's pointing fingers at me."

The doctor grew even more perplexed. Nothing was making sense to her, not even Kiara's side of the story.

"You know what, I'll call you when I'm less busy. I have to go now." Kiara said, ending the call before her friend could respond.

She picked up her sunglasses, unsure of where to find him. Now that she was all over the news, she had to hide her face until she could clear her name.

Grabbing her jacket, she made her way outside. As she hopped into the car, a notification popped up on her phone.

"Good." She mumbled, seeing it was from her damn husband. Still, she was skeptical, the address he sent was for a hotel. What would she be doing there? She's all over the news for being a cheat, now he's sending her a hotel address? She thought.

If he wanted her to sign the divorce papers, they could've met at a lawyer's office. Not wanting to overthink it, she drove off at high speed, heading to the hotel.

It was one of the most popular hotels in the country, so she knew she'd have to disguise herself to avoid unwanted attention. Who would want to hear her side now that the news was against her?

He was familiar with so many people, they'd all believe him.

When the drive finally came to an end, she stepped out of the car and strode toward the room number, her gaze fixed on the ground.

Once at the door, she assumed he'd be inside and pushed it open without knocking. The sight of a man lying on the bed made her freeze. He's features, it was different from that of her cheat husband.

She was supposed to see her husband, not some random man she didn't know. Assuming he might be the lawyer, she stepped forward, but the man's eyes remained closed.

Is this some kind of setup to make me look like I cheated? She thought, taking a step back.

There was no way she'd stay and get caught in whatever this was. As she turned to leave, a knock sounded at the door.

She screamed, quickly covering her mouth with her hand, panicked and unsure of what to do next. She had been a fool to think her husband would be inside.

What bothered her even more was that the figure on the bed still hadn't moved an inch.

It got her wondering, was he sleeping while waiting for her, or was he dead?

The thought of him being dead made her panic even more. She was lost in thought when the knock came again, and this time, the door slowly pushed open.

"Who are you?" She asked, stepping back with every word, sweat forming on her head.

He was tall, towering like a giant, with a thick beard covering half of his face.

"The man." He pointed at the bed. "Why is there blood coming from his mouth?" The stranger asked.

Kiara hadn't even noticed the blood until then. She glanced at the man on the bed and staggered slightly.

"I didn't do anything to him, you have to believe me. I just walked in, I was about to leave." She swore, still backing away. With every step she took, the man followed.

"You can't leave after murdering someone. We have to call the police." He said, his husky voice sending chills down her spine.

Kiara dropped to the floor, her hands patting the ground as she pleaded.

"You have to believe me! I have nothing to do with this. I only came here to meet my husband, he set me up!" She cried, sweat soaking through her underarms.

This wasn't how she wanted revenge. If she ended up in prison, there'd be no way to get even with him.

Still unsure of what was going on, another knock came, and the door burst open.

A fight broke out between the bearded man and a group of people who had just stormed inside. Kiara looked for an escape route, but the man grabbed her before she could slip away.

The sound of fists and feet hitting flesh filled the room, drawing attention from others nearby, though to most, it probably sounded like a couple in the heat of passion.

Once the bearded figure was down, the man who had grabbed her earlier took her hand and marched her out of the room. He picked up her keys and shoved her into the driver's seat before getting in beside her and speeding away from the scene.

"Who are you? Where are you taking me?" She asked, her voice shaking.

"Shut the fvck up if you want to live for your revenge." He responded. He's gaze glued to the road.
