Chapter 6 - Chapter 006

It was late afternoon, and there hadn't been a call from her husband regarding the papers she had asked him to provide for their divorce. Even with the threat she had sent, the calls, and the messages, nothing moved him, and it made her wonder where she had gone wrong in the marriage.

She had done everything he asked of her and had even played a part in his successful business. But what did she get in return? A maid who had been having an affair with him under the same roof.

With all the years she had spent with him, she had never suspected a thing. The maid had never invaded their privacy or tried to poke her nose into their business, never had she done that.

She felt like she should fight for her marriage, but she would only be a loser when he had clearly stated he didn't want her. She wouldn't coerce herself to stay in a place where she was no longer welcome.

Instead of sitting back and doing nothing, she reached for her phone, grabbed her car keys, and made her way out of the hotel room where she had spent the night.

Hopping into her car, she drove out of the parking lot at high speed. Just as she hit the highway, the memory of the unknown man crept into her mind. She regretted allowing him to touch her when they weren't even a couple, it only made her feel cheap.

Somehow, she had found herself drawn to him when he gestured for her to come closer. His hands caressing her thighs, she had never felt anything like that before. There had been a spark she would rather not end, but she had to leave.

The drive went on for a few more minutes, and soon she was parking outside the company. Stepping out of the car, she looked around the premises, thinking how well he had grown the company, not by himself, but with the help of her connections.

Just before she had gone into labor, he had told her his plans to expand the company, even though it was already big.

Kiara pushed the thought aside. That wasn't why she was here. She turned on her heels and strode into the building.

Surprisingly, they greeted her as usual, with the same sign of respect. It made her wonder if any of them were aware that her marriage was about to crash.

She believed if they knew, there wouldn't be this kind of respect. He would have given them instructions to stay away from her. But seeing how there was still respect from the employees, it was clear they hadn't found out yet.

The elevator dinged. She stepped out and made her way toward his secretary's desk.

As they came into view of each other, the secretary rose, her face marred by a tight-lipped smile.

"Hello, ma'am. You're welcome." She greeted. It was always the same, the way she treated her. Nothing had changed.

"Does he have any visitors?" Kiara inquired, glancing at the door and then back at her.

"No! You can go inside." She replied, gesturing toward the office door.

Kiara nodded and walked to the door. She knocked and pushed it open before he could respond.

The moment she stepped inside, regret washed over her. She wished she had waited for his response before walking in.

Right in front of her was the maid, making out with him in the office. On the desk sat a banquet she had perhaps prepared and brought for him. At that instant, Kiara blamed the secretary. If she had warned her someone was inside, she wouldn't have come closer.

They were both stunned to see her. The maid quickly moved behind him, her head lowered in shame.

"I didn't give you permission, what right do you have to come in here?" He scolded, taking a step forward while the maid still hid behind him.

'You dick. So this is what's been going on? I was a fool to keep sending the maid here. Now she comes whenever she feels like it' Kiara thought inwardly, her jaw clenched.

"I wouldn't be here if you had picked up my calls. I asked for a divorce. What part of that didn't you understand?"

He laughed coldly, his eyes narrowing as he gave her a scornful look.

"I'm a busy man, and you know that. I'm the CEO of this company, there are papers on my desk. When I'm less busy, I'll send the papers. Now leave." He pointed to the door.

"Who made you a CEO?" She snapped. "You must be forgetting you had nothing. I brushed you up, fed you, and clothed you until you could finally be a man."

The words stung him. It was the truth. He had come from nothing and had been lucky just to attend the same school as her, on a scholarship, no less.

There was nothing he could do but feel the weight of his shame.

"This is my company." He warned, voice sharp. "Watch how you speak to me before I have you thrown out."

The only reason she was holding back was because she didn't yet have a lawyer. But given the situation, if he didn't send the papers, she was going to take matters into her hands.

"Before the end of today, make sure I get those papers." She breathed, stepping closer to him. "And as for everything you have, I'm going to take it all back. You'll curse the day you proposed to me."

She glanced at the maid, whose head remained bowed. She's not worth my time, Kiara thought. There's no point speaking to her.

"Let's see how you ruin someone who's already made." He sneered, bursting into laughter.

Kiara ignored them, turning toward the door. Just before she could march out, the maid leaned closer to Anderson and whispered something into his ear, words that made his eyes widen.

"You'll get the papers today." He said suddenly. "Just wait until I give you a call."

It was a relief for Kiara. But unbeknownst to her, a trap was about to be set for her.

Without looking back, she pulled the door open and walked out of the room.

Once she was out of sight, he turned to the maid, taking her hand gently.

"How do we plan to do it? She needs to be out of the picture. If she's not, a portion of my wealth will go to her."

"Don't panic." The maid said with a small smile. "I've got you on this. There's somewhere I need to take you." She added, a sinister smile spread across her face.
