Chapter 15 - TROUBLE (ZAYDEN)

"Sir?" I looked up at the new voice, lost in my world, escaped my reality, I faked a smile.

"Are you staying longer?" He asked, and I shook my head. Getting up, I grabbed my phone.

"No, I am heading out now," I said, walking towards the door.

I got in my car and drove, absentmindedly but safe and ended up in front of her dorm, I try to see just a glimpse of her, which is pathetic but seeing her help me be at ease, but a knock on my door made me look away from her window to the person and saw Nova, I stepped out.

"What do you want?" I asked her, and she chuckled.

"You know it's funny you're acting all hard to get towards me when I especially know the truth." she was at my throat after finding out she really was desperate.

"What truth, Nova?" I asked calmly, and she crossed her arms.

"That you killed her brother?" She pointed out, and I chuckled.

"Did I?" I questioned, walking closer to her.

"Careful what you say Nova, don't let the real killer find out, or you might just be the next hidden journal" I finished, she really needs to back off, I already had enough on my plate that I don't need her on the side.

"Wow, you're so cold. How did I not know?" She asked, and I shrugged.

"Are you a thing with her now?" She asked, but something else caught my attention, someone else, in a car, a tinted car that didn't belong on campus. The door opened, and I held my breathe, why is he...

"No..." I walked towards him, in a rush to ask what he was really doing, but...

"Zayden," I paused at her voice, he heard too, I turned to her first, intending to run away with her, but he already saw and had also called me, gaining her attention.

I was very anxious as he talked to her, and she was replying

"You should thank him." My eyes narrowed at him. What's he up to.

"He was adamant you get the scholarship. At first, I was sceptical, but then he said that's the only closure he could get." I can feel Aria staring at me.

"You didn't have to bring that up," I whispered, and he laughed, slapping my arm.

"Nonsense, please bring her over for dinner, I would like to know more about her," he said with a smile, and I swallowed the lump and curse, forming in my throat and mind.

"Thank you, sir, I will be on my way," she said shyly, and he gestured she left, then she turned to me.

"Talk later," she smiled, and I nodded. I watched her walk into her dorm.

"What was that?" I asked, turning my attention to him.

"I told you...

"If you keep this up, I might really not care and let shit blow up," I hissed, and he smiled.

"No, you won't," he said it like he knew me.

"Dare me, David," I hissed, and he chuckled.

"Not just me, but a lot of people are involved with this, and trust me, they are not as nice as I am," he shrugged, I gritted my teeth.

"I don't care," I snapped, and he nodded.

"Choose your words carefully," he threatened.

He left me there, I called Aria, and she showed up.

"Your uncle is nice," she said to me, and I shook my head.

"Can you like not get close to him, and tell me whenever you see him?" I asked, and she gave me a look.

"Why?" She asked.

"I just.... can you do that?" I asked, and she nodded.

"What did you have in mind when you brought me here?" She asked and I stared at her, I didn't have anything in mind, I just felt it will ease my guilt somehow, taking care of her in his stead but definitely not falling for her.

"I don't know, but I didn't expect it to be this," I pointed between us, and she chuckled.

"It's kind of hard to accept," she admitted, and I sighed, and I grabbed her hand.

"Do you want to come sleep over at mine?" I asked, and she stared at my face.

"What?" I asked consciously, and she shook her head before walking ahead of me, tugging me towards my car.

"If you don't want to go, you don't have to go," I whispered, and she glanced at me.

"I want to go, I just feel anxious to go," she mumbled, and I stopped her.

"Why?" I asked, and she looked down.

"Why?" I asked again, and she sighed.

"We didn't properly talk about that at the rooftop," she mumbled, and I caught on.

"Do you want to talk about the kiss?" I asked, and she shook her head before letting go of my hand and rounding the car.

"Open the door," she said, and I did. She got in, leaving me outside with a smile that I didn't know I could have, not after the shitty day I just had.
