Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Arrival in Kuoh Academy

Christopher Thomas Green opened his eyes to a world that was at once familiar and completely alien.

The air smelled different—grass, concrete, and a faint hint of incense from somewhere nearby. The sky stretched a soft blue, streaked with the kind of clouds that promised calm weather. Birds called from the treetops, but beneath it all, there was a subtle vibration he recognized immediately: life energy. Not Sanctuary-level, not vast or commanding, but enough to tell him that this world was alive, and watching.

He sat up slowly on the soft grass, brushing the dirt from his jacket and looking around. The school campus before him was brick and glass, typical in its architecture, yet alive with an undercurrent of magic, subtle but insistent. Students moved about, laughing, talking, and hurrying to class, oblivious to the supernatural currents threading through the air.

"Well," he muttered, grinning to himself, "definitely not boring. Definitely not dull. Definitely… high school drama waiting to happen."

Christopher stretched, feeling the strange exhilaration of being fully mortal in a world that would eventually test every ounce of his patience and curiosity. He rose, brushing grass from his pants, and started walking toward the nearest building, his senses quietly cataloging the environment. Every sound, smell, and visual cue was noted, like a mental map forming almost instantly. Observation had always been his specialty.

As he rounded the corner of the main hall, a flurry of movement caught his attention. Crimson hair flashed like fire in the sunlight, moving with confidence and grace. The girl—no, the young woman—was immediately identifiable: Rias Gremory. Her posture, her aura, and the subtle power emanating from her left no doubt. She scanned the students with sharp, calculating eyes, yet there was a warmth in her presence, an underlying empathy that softened her dominance.

Christopher raised an eyebrow, a grin tugging at his lips. "Well… that's one way to make an entrance." He moved closer, careful to remain inconspicuous, but he couldn't help studying her. Observation first, impression later—that had always been his way.

Rias noticed him immediately. How could she not? Even without overt magic, his presence carried weight. His aura wasn't loud, not aggressive, but it was steady, solid, and rooted. Something older than any of the human or devilish energies around her. She blinked once, expression unreadable, and then continued walking, though her gaze lingered briefly.

Christopher chuckled softly. "Mysterious and powerful. Of course. Typical first-day chaos. At least it's entertaining."

He moved along the campus, taking in the other students. Here and there, subtle glimmers of magic flickered—powers he recognized as natural extensions of the world's rules: angels, devils, fallen angels, and those who didn't quite fit either category. He cataloged them all silently. No one knew him, no one had reason to fear him yet, but the careful balance of observation and humor had always drawn people in. He was safe, invisible, yet noticeable in the right way.

Christopher's attention shifted to a soft, hesitant voice nearby. A small figure with white hair and pale eyes stood near a bench, arms crossed, observing the others. Koneko Toujou. Quiet, reserved, suspicious of everyone yet clearly attuned to the supernatural currents. She glanced at him briefly, tilting her head as if deciding whether he was a threat or not. Christopher winked subtly. "I'm harmless… mostly."

The girl's eyes narrowed, unimpressed. Christopher grinned anyway. Humor was his first line of diplomacy.

"Hey," he said lightly, walking closer, voice casual. "New student. You wouldn't happen to have a map, would you? First day, and I already feel lost."

Koneko's expression didn't change. She said nothing, just tilted her head slightly, still assessing him. That was fine. Christopher wasn't in a rush. Trust and attention were earned, not demanded.

A sudden burst of energy drew his gaze across the courtyard. Asia Argento bounded forward, her movements energetic, almost musical. She waved enthusiastically at a group of classmates but paused mid-step as her eyes landed on him. Something about his calm, confident presence caught her attention immediately.

"Hello!" she said, voice bright, warm. "Are you new here? I'm Asia!"

Christopher grinned, walking toward her. "Christopher. Nice to meet you, Asia. First day jitters?"

Her smile widened, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "Something like that. You… you seem… different from the others."

He chuckled softly. "Different is my specialty. Observation, humor, charm… I like to keep people guessing."

Asia giggled. "Well, I like that. You seem… nice."

Christopher felt the familiar pull of connection—the kind that drew people toward him in Sanctuary. Here, it worked differently, but the principle was the same. Humor, empathy, patience. Human connection.

Before he could respond, a voice rang out, commanding and amused at once. "Christopher Thomas Green, isn't it?"

He looked up to see Rias Gremory approaching, her red hair catching the sun, her posture graceful and authoritative. Her eyes scanned him carefully, yet there was a faint, approving glint. "I've heard about you," she said softly. "Not everything, but enough to know that your arrival is… interesting."

Christopher bowed slightly, still smiling. "Interesting in a good way, I hope."

Her smile, subtle and knowing, suggested she appreciated his humor. "Yes. Good… and perhaps necessary."

He grinned again. Humor, charm, observation—already, the first interactions were playing out perfectly. A subtle thread of connection forming without force.

Christopher's eyes swept the campus again. Every detail mattered. The subtle energy flows, the personalities at play, the rules underlying this world. He cataloged it all silently, mentally noting that this world was chaotic but balanced, fragile but alive. And he would navigate it—not as a god, not as an emperor, but as himself. Observant, human, funny, and sharp.

He could feel it already: the supernatural currents were stirring. Challenges were waiting. Alliances would form. Chaos would erupt. But for now, he stood, smiling, grounded in the present, and fully ready to meet the strange, dangerous, and fascinating life that awaited him at Kuoh Academy.

After all, even in a new world, some things were universal: humor disarmed tension, charm drew trust, and careful observation prevented disaster. Christopher Thomas Green was ready to make his mark—humanly, humorously, and, inevitably, irreversibly.
