Kaelthar's clones had each led their respective girls to different corners of the divine realm for individual training. The ambient air buzzed with pure energy, and the ground shimmered as if the very soil was alive with power.
Among the rolling hills at the edge of a tranquil riverbank, the clone designated for Koneko stood quietly, arms folded as the petite white-haired girl followed with steady, silent steps. She glanced around the area—a quiet landscape dotted with ancient trees, crystalline flowers, and a calming stream that reflected the golden sky.
"…This place is nice," Koneko said softly, tail swaying with faint curiosity.
Kaelthar turned toward her. "It's a sacred ground meant for quiet focus. Perfect for you, Koneko."
Her golden eyes met his, a flicker of pride flashing in them. "I'm ready."
He studied her for a moment, nodding approvingly. "You've come far. You accepted your nekomata lineage… but there's still much to refine."
Koneko nodded silently, her expression neutral—but determined.
Kaelthar stepped forward. "Your physical strength is already excellent, but divine power doesn't rely on brute force alone. It flows from within—through intention, harmony, and identity. This training won't just be about strength… but about finding your own path to divinity."
She blinked, her ears twitching. "My own… path?"
"Yes. You're not just a nekomata. You're Koneko Toujou. You must figure out what divinity means to you."
Koneko took a deep breath. She remembered her past—her older sister's betrayal, her inner conflict with her nature, the fear of becoming like her… But now? Now she had Kaelthar. Rias. Everyone who believed in her.
"I'll find it," she said, voice firm.
Kaelthar's gaze softened. He reached over and gently patted her head. "Good girl."
"...Nyaa." Koneko immediately froze as a soft purr escaped her lips. Her cheeks flushed bright pink, her tail puffing slightly. "Th-That was… embarrassing…"
Kaelthar chuckled. "You liked it."
"...Maybe," she mumbled, eyes downcast.
"Then let's begin."
—
The next few hours were nothing short of intense.
Kaelthar had always trained them with discipline, but now? Something was different.
The intensity increased tenfold. His movements were sharper. His instructions more precise. The weight of every technique, every blow, every breath carried divine pressure.
Koneko gritted her teeth as she pushed through dozens of training sets. Her body glowed faintly with spiritual light, her nekomata traits responding to the divine energy. White flames laced with ethereal power wrapped around her fists as she struck boulders into dust.
Kaelthar watched quietly as she trained—punching, dodging, unleashing her youkai aura in controlled bursts. Occasionally, her hair would shimmer with silver streaks, her body surrounded by soft feline energy. She was learning to integrate her nekomata nature with divine discipline—an elegant harmony of beast and grace.
She collapsed to her knees once, panting, sweat running down her pale skin. Her knuckles were bruised. Her breathing heavy.
"You're pushing yourself too hard," Kaelthar said, appearing beside her.
"I… need to be stronger," Koneko said between breaths. "Something's coming, right?"
He didn't answer immediately. But the brief flash of seriousness in his eyes said it all.
"Yes," he said at last. "Something far beyond what you've faced. That's why this training is different. I'm not just preparing you… I'm preparing goddesses."
Koneko's eyes widened.
"Divinity isn't just about power. It's about truth. What do you fight for, Koneko? What is your truth?"
She stared at her hands, trembling. "I… want to protect everyone. My friends… Rias… you."
Kaelthar nodded slowly. "Then channel that. Let it become the foundation of your divine path."
Koneko stood again, her small fists tightening.
"Then I'll walk it. One step at a time."
Kaelthar smiled faintly. "Good."
—
They trained harder after that.
Kaelthar introduced her to a new combat technique: Divine Paw, a fusion of her raw nekomata strength and spiritual finesse. Each blow channeled her inner balance—her light and darkness—into concentrated force.
Though the form wasn't perfect yet, Koneko was gradually improving.
She even began tapping into her innate nekomata senses—anticipating strikes through instinct, reacting without thought, her movements becoming faster, more fluid.
Her tail moved in perfect rhythm with her steps, guiding her balance and enhancing her agility.
Kaelthar watched closely. Each mistake was corrected with precision. But every improvement was met with encouragement—even if subtle.
After hours of relentless training, Kaelthar finally raised a hand.
"Break time."
Koneko collapsed to the ground with a soft sigh, her body trembling slightly. Despite the exhaustion, her eyes held a fierce glint of pride.
"Good work," he said.
"…Thanks." Her ears drooped slightly as she looked up at him, cheeks pink again.
Kaelthar reached into a pocket dimension and summoned a small paper bag. "Here."
Koneko blinked. "…Is that…"
"Cookies," he said simply.
Her eyes sparkled. She reached out and took one, holding it like it was a holy relic.
"…You remembered," she whispered.
"You've earned it."
She munched quietly, tail swaying in pure delight. Kaelthar sat beside her, watching the clouds in the divine sky drift slowly across the horizon.
"You're progressing well," he said after a moment. "But we have a long, long way to go."
Koneko nodded. "I know."
He turned to her. "Do you regret choosing this path?"
She shook her head immediately. "No. I want to walk this path with you."
Kaelthar gave her another head pat—this time, slower, more affectionate. Koneko purred again, then quickly covered her mouth in embarrassment.
"Stop doing that," she murmured.
"But you like it."
"...Nyaaa," she whispered under her breath, trying to hide her smile.
Kaelthar stood up. "Break's over soon. Get ready. Next, we'll begin meditation—spiritual syncing. That's the first step to touching divinity."
Koneko stood too, brushing the crumbs off her lap. Her golden eyes were calm, determined.
"Let's go, Kaelthar-sensei."
He raised an eyebrow. "Sensei?"
"…Shut up," she muttered, cheeks pink again.
As they walked back to the training grounds, Kaelthar couldn't help but smile.
Koneko's path to divinity was slow, steady, and silent—but it was hers. And with every step, she grew stronger.
The storm ahead would be fierce—but so would she.
And Kaelthar would be right there with her, every step of the way.
