The twin golden sun of Kaelthar's personal dimension hovered eternally above the crystalline sea. Waves lapped rhythmically along the soft shores, where energy thrummed gently through the land—magic, life, and aether coexisting in harmony. Yet today, the peace was charged with something different: a brewing excitement. The air itself seemed to shimmer, expectant.
The girls stood on the sandy training field Kaelthar had shaped near the edge of the water. Each wore a confident smile—or at least tried to. Their training had been fruitful: Kunou's aura pulsed with newfound life energy, Koneko's tails twitched with restrained tension, Akeno crackled subtly with power, and Rias's red energy of destruction hummed around her like an eager beast. And yet, all eyes kept drifting toward one person.
Yasaka.
The High Priestess of Kyoto stood barefoot in the sand, her silken training garb tied loosely over her curves, her golden hair flowing down her back in waves like the kitsune she was. She wore her usual warm smile, but behind her gentle gaze, a storm of power waited to be unleashed.
Kaelthar stood nearby, his arms crossed, watching with calm intensity.
"This will be your first sparring match since we started refining your power," he said, voice smooth as flowing mana. "I want to see how you apply what I've taught you. Think. Feel. Flow with your energy."
The girls nodded.
"Who's first?" Kaelthar asked, turning to Yasaka.
She tilted her head playfully. "Why not let them come at me together? It'll give them a real challenge."
The others glanced at one another. Koneko clenched her small fists. Kunou bounced with excitement. Rias narrowed her eyes in focus, while Akeno licked her lips, sparks dancing between her fingers.
"Three versus one?" Akeno asked.
Yasaka winked. "It might not be as unfair as you think."
Kaelthar gave a small chuckle. "Very well. Begin."
The dimension trembled slightly as the spar ignited.
Rias moved first, her crimson destruction energy swirling in a wide arc toward Yasaka. Her control had improved drastically—rather than wasteful bursts, it was precise, slicing through the air like a blade. Yasaka stepped back with the grace of a dancer, letting the energy wash harmlessly past her.
Before Rias could adjust, Koneko darted in from the left. Her movements were light, enhanced by the life energy Kaelthar had helped her channel through her limbs. She moved like a shadow, fists aimed at Yasaka's side.
But Yasaka pivoted.
Her hand tapped Koneko's wrist, redirecting the strike. With her other hand, she gently pressed a finger against Koneko's chest and sent her tumbling back with a subtle pulse of spiritual force.
Kunou took the distraction as her cue and leapt high, her two golden tails swirling behind her. Fire licked the edges of her aura—wild, but potent.
Yasaka looked up with fond eyes. "You've gotten stronger, my little flame."
Kunou shouted, "This time I'll win!" and rained down fiery bursts of raw life energy.
The explosions hit the sand—but Yasaka was already gone.
She appeared behind Kunou mid-air and caught her gently by the shoulder before flipping her forward. Kunou landed in the sand with a grunt but quickly bounced back up.
Meanwhile, Akeno had stayed back, her violet eyes narrowed in quiet analysis. Electricity surged down her arms, her fallen angel and demonic bloodlines fully awakened.
Akeno raised both arms and called lightning down from the sky. It crashed toward Yasaka like divine judgment.
Kaelthar's eyes glinted. "Good. She's mixing her natures."
But Yasaka spun, raising a hand, and redirected the lightning into the sea with a delicate motion of her fingers. Her command over spiritual energy let her nullify even potent hybrid techniques.
Rias charged again, this time with improved tactics, coordinating with Akeno. But Yasaka split her focus, deflecting Rias's assault with a sweeping tail and flicking a spiritual orb at Akeno's wrist, disrupting her focus.
It went on like this for several minutes. Attacks came fast, but Yasaka remained untouchable—graceful, strong, and wise. She didn't just defeat their techniques; she taught through her movements, each counter an unspoken lesson.
Finally, Koneko landed with a grunt, panting. Rias knelt beside her, wiping sweat from her brow. Kunou fell to her knees, gasping, while Akeno's lightning faded into sparks.
Yasaka stood alone, untouched, her smile kind but glowing with pride.
"You've all grown," she said warmly, walking toward them. "You lack experience, not potential. In time, you'll rival me—and maybe even surpass me."
Kaelthar stepped forward, clapping slowly.
"Well done," he said. "Yasaka showed restraint, but her strength and elegance can't be faked. You did well to hold out as long as you did."
The girls glowed from the praise, despite their defeat.
"Can we go again?" Kunou asked, eyes still shining.
Kaelthar chuckled. "Tomorrow. For now, let's rest."
He lifted his hand, and soft cushions, drinks, and parasols emerged from the sand. The sea breeze picked up gently as the group moved toward the makeshift beach lounge.
As the girls relaxed, Yasaka came to sit beside Kaelthar. Her presence was calm, confident.
"You held back," he said quietly.
She gave him a side glance. "Of course. They're still young."
"They'll catch up."
"I know." She smiled. "They have a great teacher."
Kaelthar raised an eyebrow. "Flattery?"
She leaned slightly toward him, whispering close. "Just the truth."
He felt her tail brush against his side briefly before pulling away.
The sun in his dimension didn't set, but somehow, the sky grew warmer, tinged with gold as if reflecting the growing bonds among them all.
