Chapter 2 - First Client: Care Instructions for Patient Romani Fox

Today, Romani Vixen came to consult her brother Max, distressed and unsure of what to do. Her husband, Fox, is in a deeply concerning condition. Not knowing where else to turn, she remembered Max once mentioning "The Precept Purifiers", a mysterious duo—Annie and Am—renting the third floor of his shop, Crazy Rose.

For the past three months, her partner has been bedridden in a hospital. No nurse has been able to care for him without encountering strange, sometimes disturbing events—events that have affected either the caregiver or Fox himself. Vixen has witnessed some of them firsthand. To prevent further harm, she compiled the following strict care protocol for anyone assigned to watch over him.

Care Instructions for Romani Fox

 1. Fox always wakes at 6:06 a.m. He will immediately ask for someone named Lilithia.

You must tell him: "Lilithia is traveling to Syria and will return next month."

(If you say you don't know, he'll ask endlessly and cry uncontrollably for the rest of the day.)

 2. He is only permitted soft foods as prescribed by his doctor.

Do not give in to his requests for meat dishes or anything requiring a knife or fork, no matter how much he begs—those could become weapons used against you.

(To the nurse: I trust you'd never serve unauthorized food, but please double-check the dietary label. Sometimes, his meals get mysteriously swapped.)

 3. Afternoon naps (1–2 hours) may include the following behaviors:

 • 3.1 Sleep-talking and calling your name

 • 3.2 Asking deeply personal questions

(Even if he seems coherent, remember: he's under heavy sedation.)

 • 3.3 Violent thrashing

Do not respond to him—ignore his voice completely.

If you accidentally speak back, he may become active and lunge at you.

In that case, immediately wake him up by saying: "Lilithia has returned."

Do not touch him, or he may strangle you.

 4. Night duty is far more dangerous. You may charge extra or refuse the task entirely.

 • 4.1 He sleeps at 8 p.m. and remains still until 10 p.m. Use this time for personal needs.

 • 4.2 At 10 p.m., he will sit up. Stay perfectly quiet—don't even shift your position.

 • 4.3 If he hears nothing, he'll begin sniffing the air. When you hear a "sniff-sniff" sound, remain still. The automatic air freshener will activate and mask your scent.

You are in the presence of something capable of ripping your guts out without warning.

 • 4.4 If you hear classical music, don't panic. You have two choices:

Option 1: Run to the private bathroom, lock the door, remain silent, and bring your phone.

You may leave the bathroom at 11:00 p.m.

Option 2: Run to the nearest nurse's station, tell them you're assigned to Romani Fox.

They will let you hide until 11:00 p.m., but you must return to your duties afterward.

 • 4.5 If at 11:00 p.m., Fox is not in the room, check the hospital kitchen downstairs.

You will usually find him near the raw meat freezer.

(Don't ask me why the meat sometimes disappears.)

If he's unconscious, call security to escort him back.

But if he's awake—and sees you—I'm sorry.

 • 4.6 Once he's back in his room, you may relax—but beware of the midnight nurse.

The real nurse knocks five times.

If you hear three knocks, ask for the nurse's name.

No nurse on this floor is named Lilia.

If "Lilia" asks to check on Fox, firmly tell her: "You're not welcome in this room."

(There is a jar of salt in the cabinet—sprinkle some at the door. It helps.)

Never let Lilia near Fox, and don't look through the peephole—you'll regret it.

She will leave… but return every hour.

 • 4.7 At 3:00 a.m., Lilia won't knock—she'll call from the balcony.

Your only task: Don't let Fox leave the room.

If you already used salt, the door is safe, but he may try to reach the balcony.

Don't let him go, even if he becomes unnaturally strong.

"Please help protect my husband's life."

 5. At 4:00 a.m., Lilia will appear at the door again. This time, she'll scream and try to break in.

You may hide in the bathroom if needed. Don't open the door.

 6. At 5:30 a.m., the normal nurse will return. You may rest until 6:00 a.m.

Once Fox wakes, you may leave—but don't forget to take the horseshoe keychain with you.

Note: You may inform me of any additional charges through private message.

These are the full care instructions for my husband.

They are difficult—most caregivers withdraw before completing a full shift, even when we offer generous pay.

We will not blame you if you choose to withdraw. You will still be compensated even if you don't complete the assignment.

"Fortunately, Fox's father knows the hospital director, so we didn't have to transfer him to another facility—even though he's caused enough trouble to warrant being expelled from this one.

Right now, I'm struggling with severe sleep deprivation because I have to stay up at night to watch over my husband. As you can see, it's incredibly difficult—so much so that I've felt hopeless more times than I can count.

But I can't leave him. I promised Fox's mother, before she passed away, that I would take care of him the best I could.

I don't know who Lilia is or why she wants him so badly. She's terrifying. Every time she appears, she tries to take him away. It's the worst thing imaginable. There was one time… I almost let her into the room. Please don't make me describe it—it was like being in hell."

Vixen said, tears streaming down her face in quiet despair.
