Chapter 8 - 008: A Comrade's Death

******

Otanz shot a red blazing flame at the soldiers who stood still. They were rounded up. They could not escape death. Some had already began to shed tears, others had accepted their fate in agony.

BOOOOM!!!!

The flames shot at them echoing in its void form. The ground shattered upon contact with the Tiger Flame. Rumbles shot across the sky as arrows of flame flew across the scene.

Henry had managed a slight dodge but that didn't mean he had escaped the thrilling moment. His face was brutally fractured and his legs were as good as useless.

Half of his left leg was burnt brutally by the flame and all he could do was to stare at it in shock.

"Damn it." he muttered in anger. His eyes scanned through the scene but the thick fog that settled after the blast had not cleared.

His gaze shifted to the demons lurking in and killing some of the soldiers to his face. Tears welled up in his eyes as he stared at the cold beings rip off throats of his men cruelly.

He tried to see if he could see any human but he saw none. His face tightened in anger. The humans seemed to ignore his cry call. They were intentionally letting them die.

"Stupid bastards!! I can't believe we have been out here dying to protect those who care less of us. They think us as nothing but slaves and puppets. We lay down our lives for them and all they do in return is to pay with this cruelty? They don't even have the nerves to step out!!'' Henry cursed out loudly.

"Argghh!!" another dying soldier screamed in horror as death cruelly carried him to its abode.

Henry lay on the ground and stared at the young soldier being devoured by the demons. Tears streaked down his cheeks as he was also helpless.

He could not save them as he would not be able to stand to his feet. It was only but a matter of time for his death.

"Damn Dark Angels. Just useless folks who coat themselves in the name if fighting for earth. Damn things. Have no idea of what their stupidity has caused us." Henry muttered.

"But I do not blame them totally. God himself saw this place as a cruel world. A world where good is repayed with evil. A world where the evil rule over the just. A world with no just being. Wouldn't it be as good as to wipe it off? Even if I had his power, I would do exactly the same. Not after being betrayed by my own people."

*Cough*

*Cough*

*Cough*

Blood streaked out of his nose as he looked at the scene. It was now clearing in fog but he couldn't still make out anything from it.

"Fuck. I'm dying...If it pleases God the Supreme, may he forgive me for going against his will. This world is just a mess of beings in an illusion of peace in evil."

*Cough*

*Cough*

More blood. Tears streaked down his cheek as he stared at his legs. His blood was forming up a pool and bath in red juice. A tasteful juice.

He looked forward and saw a demon lung at him. He didn't move. He had accepted his fate. Death was now at his corner and all he could do was wait for it. There was not a thing worth living for at this point.

The fang of the demon dug into his heart. A radiating pain razor's through his body like sharp blade.

"Arghh!!..."

But then the pain subsided. He didn't know why but he began to sob lightly. Not because of pain but because of the fact that he was coming to the realisation that the humans who had always fought for had turned their backs on his troop.

If only he had listened to his mother. His late mother had warned him not to engage into the Super Military. She had cried and weeded bitterly after his departure.

He thought he was being a hero but he forgot that there were no such things as heroes. Heroes didn't exist as their good deeds died with them.

His mother passed out after he went for his first mission. The death was a touching one that left a scar in him but he never gave up on the humans. He was willing to sacrifice more to see that they lived.

But here he was, at the moment of life and death calling on the humans for their generosity. What did he receive in return? Betrayal. He received nothing other than their cruel side.

"These humans are not worth living for. They are... they are the demons themselves. Only to your wish at your power and turning into camouflaged snakes when you are down."

He blinked lightly. He wasn't feeling the pain any more. He was finally dying. And for some reason he felt happy about it.

Then suddenly he saw the demon vibrate and burst into pieces. He stared without any expression on his face wondering who was disturbing his death.

"Damn! Captain not in good shape." Kelvin said aloud. His eyes sparked with precision and curiosity.

"What happened Henry?" Kelvin asked but Henry only smiled.

"Leave me to die. Just know this. The ones you fight for will soon turn to your own enemies and the earlier you realise that, the better for you." Henry muttered as pain rocketed through his body.

Kelvin stared at him as tears streaked down his cheek. His best friend was speaking in death language. His emotions broke in as he bursted into a violent sob. His hugged Henry tightly as he could not imagine living without his only friend.

"Kel...I hope...I..have more cookies....up...the..rrr" Henry muttered and his eyes closed up. A smile tugged on his lifeless lips as he felt himself die in comfortable arms.

Kelvin turned and felt the zero heart beat of Henry. His eyes widened in shock. No. He had planned to take him to the Medical Zone after the fuel was cleared. Why die so early? Was he eager to die?

His face reddened in anger and he turned around. To his shock, the Arch Demon was laying on the ground headless. Beside him stood a being with dark energy emitting from his body.

"Nooooooohhh!!!!!'' Kelvin exclaimed and picked up his weapon.

"Damn you Dark Angels!!!!!!!'' Kelvin exclaimed in anger as tears flung from his eyes.
