Chapter 265 - Chapter 264: Earth-Shattering Secret

Has the world gone insane, or was it just him?

Yoru's face was filled with disbelief. He was certain he hadn't misheard—Sirzechs had indeed asked him to take care of his wife?

"Lord Sirzechs… Forgive me, but I don't quite understand. What exactly do you mean by that?"

"I want you to take care of Grayfia. I've been searching for someone like you… and I've finally found him."

Sirzechs's tone was calm as he spoke, and the bitterness in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by a gentle tenderness.

That gentleness, of course, wasn't directed at Yoru—it was for his wife, Grayfia.

It was clear that Sirzechs truly loved his wife. Yoru had heard about their story from Rias—a romantic tale that had become a legend in the Underworld. A love that blossomed between two young people from rival factions during the conflict between the Revolutionary and Conservative Devil clans. They overcame many obstacles to be together.

But why… why would Sirzechs ask him to take care of his wife?

Yoru couldn't make sense of it. He stared at Sirzechs, hoping for an explanation.

"This is a secret between Grayfia and me. But now, I'm entrusting this secret to you. I hope you'll keep it safe."

Sirzechs said solemnly, and Yoru gave a slight nod. Then, Sirzechs began his explanation.

As one of the Four Great Satans of the Underworld—and the strongest Satan in history—Sirzechs Lucifer's power had long surpassed the limits of a typical Devil. After inheriting the position and power of the previous Lucifer, his already fearsome strength evolved even further. But this immense power brought a hidden cost: a transformation in his destruction energy.

Sirzechs had inherited the power of destruction from his mother's Bael bloodline—a force incredibly powerful and tyrannical. In the past, he could still control it enough to avoid harming his loved ones. But after becoming a Satan, this power grew even more intense, changing not only his strength, but his very existence.

Though Sirzechs appeared normal on the outside, his body had changed—he had become destruction incarnate.

He could no longer get close to others. If he did, the immense destructive force in his body would invade and break down their physical forms from the inside out.

Now, he couldn't even hug Grayfia or his little sister Rias, let alone give Grayfia the kind of physical intimacy a woman desires.

"She's been married to me for years, but though we appear to be a loving couple, the truth is… we've never even held hands, never embraced. So… I want you to give Grayfia the happiness a woman deserves."

Sirzechs said this with such seriousness that Yoru was left speechless for a long time.

"Why… me?"

Yoru finally snapped out of it and took a deep breath before asking.

There was no shortage of powerful Devils in the Underworld. Why had Sirzechs chosen him, of all people?

"Because I don't trust them. If this secret got out, it would be a massive scandal—for me as a Satan, for the Gremory household, and for Grayfia's Lucifer family. There are many talented young Devils, but most are from noble families and serve only their own clan's interests. I can't rely on them."

Sirzechs locked eyes with Yoru, his gaze sharp and unwavering.

"But you're different. You were once human, and now you're part of Rias's peerage. I can tell Rias deeply trusts and likes you. I believe in my sister's judgment—so I believe in you. On top of that, your power and potential are terrifying. I can feel it. One day, you may become someone as powerful as I am. The future of Devils may lie in your hands."

"You're giving me too much credit, Lord Sirzechs…"

Yoru let out a dry chuckle and rubbed his nose awkwardly. He truly didn't know what to say to the man in front of him.

This man's unconditional love for Grayfia was moving. To love someone so much that you would willingly entrust her to another man just to make her happy—how many people in the world could do something so selfless?

"…What's wrong? You're not willing to agree? Don't worry about Rias—I won't let her find out. And I won't interfere in your relationship with her. I can see she really likes you… and the girl from the Shitori family too. Gotta say, you've got some real luck with women."

"Well, if Lord Sirzechs says so, I suppose I can't really refuse. But… isn't the real question what Grayfia herself wants? I highly doubt she'd agree to something like this."

Yoru laughed bitterly. He couldn't begin to understand Sirzechs's way of thinking. He wasn't just offering his wife to someone else—he didn't seem to care about Yoru's relationship with his sister either.

This was getting complicated. Grayfia was Rias's sister-in-law, and Yoru was Rias's servant…

"Grayfia… Don't worry. She's my wife. I make the decisions."

Sirzechs said that without hesitation. But before Yoru could respond, a cold voice echoed through the room.

"I do not agree!"

Grayfia, her face frosty and expression stern, had somehow entered the room without either of them noticing. She stared coldly at Sirzechs.

"Oh, Grayfia. You're here."

Sirzechs didn't seem surprised at all. It was as if he'd known she'd been eavesdropping the whole time.

"I told you before—don't bring this up again!"

"You have to understand… I'm doing this for you."

"There's no need for that. I am your woman. The woman of Sirzechs Lucifer. I ask that the Demon King not do anything that would disgrace the name of Lucifer!"

Yoru awkwardly rubbed the tip of his nose as he looked at the couple now locked in confrontation. He had no idea what to say. He was starting to feel like a complete third wheel.

But he could sense the chill in Grayfia's words. It seemed like the only reason she still acknowledged herself as Sirzechs's wife… was to protect the name and honor of Lucifer.
