"President, what's going on with you today? I'm really worried about you."
As the voice rang out, the doorknob slowly turned. Shigenji Shirou walked straight in.
"You've got some nerve. Who gave you permission to enter!"
Seeing Shirou barge in, Canna's face twisted in anger.
"President, you! Why are you hugging Yoru like that?! What exactly have you two been doing in here all this time?!"
Seeing the pair in such an intimate embrace, Shirou's face flushed red as he roared in outrage.
He completely ignored Canna's scolding and instead questioned her even more aggressively.
"Shirou! Just who do you think is the master here—you or me?!"
Seeing the boy losing control, Canna's expression turned cold.
"What I do with Canna-nee… doesn't really concern you, does it?"
Yoru, who never had much affection for this boy who had been hostile from the start, replied flatly. At the same time, he slowly withdrew his hand from the opening of Canna's blouse.
Disobeying a direct order from his master and barging into her private space—such behavior was no different from insubordination. With that thought, Yoru's gaze toward Shirou took on a distinct chill.
"You bastard! Who gave you the right to call her 'Canna-nee'?!"
Like a wild beast in a frenzy, Shirou took a few steps forward as he shouted.
"Shigenji Shirou!"
Canna slammed her hand on the desk and shouted his name.
"P-President…"
Shirou froze in place, his expression twisted in pain.
"Shigenji Shirou. As a soldier, are you planning to betray me?"
Canna stared coldly at the boy she had always treated like a younger brother. But it was obvious now… Her feelings toward Yoru were something she couldn't control, while she felt none of that toward Shirou.
It might sound cruel, but it was the truth. Yoru was exceptional—so much more so than Shirou—that Canna couldn't help but be drawn entirely toward him. She feared falling behind Rias, which only pushed her feelings toward Yoru to deepen over time into something uncontrollable.
"President…"
Shirou tried to speak, but not a single word came out.
"Leave. Now!"
Pointing to the door, Canna ordered coldly.
"…Understood, President."
Shirou had calmed down completely. With stiff politeness, he bowed and slowly backed out of the room, though his eyes never left Yoru—filled with hatred.
Clack.
The door closed softly. The last thing Shirou saw was Canna's beautiful face, slightly flushed, her breath ragged.
Crunch.
He bit down so hard he drew blood—he had shattered his own tooth.
I'll kill him… I'll definitely kill him.
The President is mine… forever mine…
Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Shirou ignored the strange looks from others as he staggered away from the student council office.
"…Sigh."
After Shirou left, Canna collapsed weakly onto the desk, as if all her strength had drained away.
"It's my fault. I didn't expect… that he'd just barge in like that."
Yoru shook his head with a helpless expression. He really hadn't expected Shirou to act so rashly.
"I didn't expect it either… It was him…"
Hearing Yoru's words, Canna gave a bitter smile.
"Well, I guess it can't be helped. After all, my Canna-nee is so beautiful—it's no surprise someone might have a secret crush on you."
"I'll find a way to explain things to him. I'll also make our relationship clear to him. But for now, Yoru, it's best you avoid seeing Shirou."
"Mm, don't worry. I'm not petty. After all, both of us are your servants—your soldiers."
"I don't recall having such a disobedient soldier like you… I told you not to act recklessly…"
Canna muttered with mild annoyance, but anyone could tell—she was just acting cute.
"Alright, go back to work now."
With that, Yoru nodded and left the student council room.
Being walked in on was treated by Yoru as nothing more than a minor incident. After all, as Canna's servant, he believed Shirou should be able to accept that his master had fallen in love.
But clearly, things didn't go as Yoru expected. After school, Canna came to him, visibly worried, and said that Shirou had gone missing.
"Huh? Missing? What do you mean? Did that guy get heartbroken and run off to cry somewhere?"
"…I hope that's all it is."
Canna sighed helplessly, clearly unaware just how deeply she mattered to Shirou.
Before long, she had no time to worry about Shirou anymore—because whenever she recalled what she had said to Yoru in the student council room earlier, her heart would start pounding uncontrollably.
She had agreed to that—
Which meant… that tonight, she would become Yoru's woman.
Shirou's disappearance didn't cause much of a stir. Not just Canna—even the other servants simply assumed he had left early due to personal matters.
In the quiet of the night, a broken boy wandered through the empty streets. Every time he closed his eyes, the image of Canna and Yoru embracing flashed before him.
He had loved the President for so long. Loved her deeply. He even dreamed of marrying her and having a child together… So why?
Why had that random guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere?
That so-called servant of the President—mysterious and often absent—was always protected by her. And their relationship was so… intimate.
He had only been around for a month. He was just a soldier!
But I… I was revived with four chess pieces!
Why? Why does the President love him? What does he have that I don't?!
These wild thoughts churned inside Shirou's mind. He wanted to scream at the sky, but no sound came out. In the end, all he could do was collapse in agony on the ground.
And just then—footsteps echoed.
A man appeared before the lost Shirou.
"Well, well… A lost devil.
Tell me… do you desire power?
Power enough to obtain everything you want?"
