Chapter 14 - chapter 14

Workshop Banter – The Golden Dawn Suit & Domino's Shadow

Location: Stark Tower – R&D Lab

Time: Two Days After Xavier's Session

The lights in the R&D bay were dim, casting a soft amber glow over a gleaming armor frame mounted in the center. The suit—Lance's new armor—was a fusion of power and poetry.

A white Superman-inspired tech suit, its clean lines etched with golden glowing energy, hummed softly. A majestic white cape flowed from the shoulders, and a golden eagle emblem glowed on the chest—symbolizing hope, rebirth, and sovereignty. The seams pulsed with solar energy lines, alive with the sunlight Lance himself now absorbed.

Built into the collar: Athena, an integrated A.I., modeled after ancient Greek strategy and wisdom.

Toni stood in front of it, arms folded, jaw tense.

Toni (to herself):

"You better not get yourself killed in this, golden boy…"

She tapped a command into her watch.

F.R.I.D.A.Y. (in Irish accent):

"Diagnostics complete. Solar intake efficiency at 93%. Temperatures stable. Shall I run a neural sync simulation?"

Toni:

"Not yet. I just want to look at it a bit longer. It's the only thing keeping me from falling apart today."

A pause.

F.R.I.D.A.Y.:

"You've done well, Miss Stark."

Toni (quietly):

"No, F.R.I.D.A.Y. I've done just enough to not fall apart."

Just then, Domino strolled in, lollipop in mouth. The sarcasm was in her walk before she even opened her mouth.

Domino:

"Let me guess—you're talking to yourself or the suit? Or both?"

Toni:

"It talks back now. So technically, I'm not crazy."

Natasha entered behind her with a slight smirk.

Domino:

"Looks like a sexy cross between Superman and Apollo. You sure you're not trying to bang your way into Mount Olympus, Stark?"

Toni (deadpan):

"You think I'd go through all this trouble just to get him to notice me?"

Natasha:

"You've been building that suit for three weeks and muttering his name like a madwoman. It's either love or some cult-level kink."

Toni smirked, but her eyes were tired.

Toni:

"It's not just for show. It absorbs solar radiation, gamma bursts, lightning—any energy source. It's not just armor—it's an extension of him."

Domino (grinning):

"Sounds more like a love letter with thrusters."

Toni:

"You know what? Screw you both. I am in love with him."

The room went quiet.

Natasha blinked. Domino raised an face changed

Toni (shrugging):

"I fought it. Buried it. Told myself I didn't care. But when I was in that cave… dying… all I thought about was him. Not the money. Not my company. Just his face."

but when Toni finally broke down and admitted her love, Domino's expression flickered—just for a second.

Her smirk faded.

Domino POV (Flashback – Year 2002)

The air was thick with smoke. Her ears rang like broken bells. Blood soaked into the sand.

"Shit… Bravo Team, do you copy?"

No answer.

Private Neena Thurman, then just a sniper on her third overseas tour, crawled out from the rubble of the blast crater. Limbs broken. Face torn. Her entire unit—dead.

She remembered the cold hospital room. The doctor whispering about her cells mutating. "X-Gene activation," they called it.

Then the rumors started. Soldiers who awakened powers being carted off to blacksites. Never heard from again.

She'd been so damn scared.

Until he walked in.

General Stephen Lance Carter, tall as a tower, uniform pressed, voice like steel. He didn't flinch at her scars or her trembling.

He looked at her and said, "You're not broken. You're better."

And for the first time… she believed it.

Back to Present:

Domino crossed her arms, standing beside Toni.

Domino (softly):

"Guess we all owe him more than we can say."

Domino,(softly):

"Then you should tell him."

Toni shook her head.

Toni:

"Not until I can stand beside him without shaking."

Natasha walked over, placed a hand on her shoulder.

Natasha:

"You already do."

They stood in silence for a moment, three women too powerful for their own good—each quietly in love with the same man.

Then—

Domino (playful):

"So when's the wedding? And am I allowed to wear white or would that be a declaration of war?"

Laughter. At last.

Quiet Phone Call

Time: Later That Night

Toni lays in bed, staring at her phone.

A text from Lance:

"Thinking of you tonight. Sleep well, Star."

She clutches the phone to her chest, tears sliding down her cheeks—not of sadness, but hope.

The Phoenix and the Light – Stark's Final Act

Location: Stark Tower Atrium – Live Press Conference

Time: One Week Later

The crowd buzzed with anticipation.

Toni Stark stepped onto the stage—confident, calm, and heartbreakingly human.

No armor. Just a woman reborn.

She greeted the press, the cameras, and the people of the world.

"...I was building bombs. Now I want to build a future."

She introduced her new initiative—the Stark Humanitarian & Superpowered Development Foundation—a hub of research, mental health support, and superpowered development.

Then came the unexpected moment.

A new slide lit up the sky behind her—a holographic image of the Stark Industries weapons division… with a big red "SHUTDOWN" stamp across it.

Toni (resolute):

"As of today, Stark Industries will no longer manufacture or sell weapons. Not a single drone, tank, or missile. The past is behind me. My future is in healing—not hurting."

Gasps rippled through the press. Shock. Admiration. Speculation.

But Toni didn't flinch.

"I can't undo the pain I caused. But I can make damn sure it ends with me."

The crowd erupted in applause.

Above it all, watching from the shadows, Lance smiled.

She had become the woman she was always meant to be.

She had healed.

And she had risen.
