Chapter 1 - Preface

To my closest friends:

Nicole, Gina, Abby, and Sam

No level of gratitude can I express that will show my full love for you all.

For the others that supported me all of this time, I'll see you in the underground.

For my parents, I hope this helps.

Ever since I was diagnosed with D.I.D. five years ago from when I started writing this book, I had always seen and hated how terribly the disorder was portrayed in most media. Be it movies and shows I saw or some (not all) other books I read about it that I read, I always felt like they never actually talked to someone with the disorder when writing it into their story. Those types of portrayals definitely fueled a lot of the distrust and directed hatred that I have received from a lot of people over the years, and I wanted to set the record straight, at least partially.

I wanted to tell a story; my story, what I went through both in and outside of my head during the equal parts wild, confusing, dangerous, and tragic part of my life while I was still coming to terms with my condition. I wanted to depict that adventure as much as I could through this writing, and I hope that you as the reader can use this both as a form of entertainment, and a way of learning about this disorder that I and many other people have and live with every day that is so often misunderstood and villainized.

With that said.

Welcome to The Underground.
